What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Porridge does the same thing to me although i've not measured as high as 11.5 but certainly rise to around 9.5 an hour after eating. I was told to eat porridge when i was pre-diabetic as it was good for me so I was eating the darn stuff nearly every day. I used to love porridge - no sugar and just a bit of salt. Certainly didn't help to keep me in the pre-diabetic space.
At diagnosis they were still using the advice from diabetes. Org who are still suggesting cereals and porridge for breakfast..

4.9 today sun out starting to get hot hot hot breakfast then wee swim when pool opens. Still processing yesterday info and been doing a little research

6.1 today.
Amazed that so many others still being advised of the supposed benefits of high carb breakfast items. I had the same advice just a year ago " eat plenty of porridge, it's good for diabetics as it is slow release." For some that may be but it shoots my BS up straight away and stays there. I have found just avoiding the high carby foods such as porridge, bread, potatoes, pasta and then experimenting with other lesser known culprits is the only way to get a true picture of what is good or bad for you. Identify for ourselves the "devil" foods and try to stick to the "angel" ones, (never easy.) You cannot rely on generally held dietary beliefs as we are all different and often the advice is outdated.

Morning All 8.1 today which seems my norm these days. I want 6s but can’t seem to get them. Maybe the heat is a factor though it does mean that I am drinking more water and peppermint tea. Take care everyone in this weather, I tend to do stuff in the morning and hide indoors in the afternoon.

Morning all

Waking level on libre six point five.

- currently seven point two after walk and coffee

I’ll probably cut down on my coffee consumption as I read more medical papers on the subject

From my reading so far I get : probably good for you if pre diabetic or type two. Most likely bad for you if LADA or type one

I do drink a lot of coffee but for the sake of a longer healthier life could swop to an alternative

I think it is the heat. I have been in the later 7s to 8s in the mornings since the heat wave. But during the day I am in the 6s. Stuck in front of a hairdryer is the worse, at times I have wanted to join the client and to dunk my head under the basin whilst shampooing hair! The jealousy is real guys lol
