What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi guys is it best to go to bed in range 5-8mlor just above, I take 8?-10?ml of long lasting glargine at around 11a.m.When I go to bed in range I drop low during the night, any help would be appreciated thanks

will be worth speaking to your dsn / consultant we are not allowed to give medical advice and can only speak from experience.

experience for me is that when i was inititally diagnosed i was on 18 units toujeo alongside fast acting novarapid with meals 5 units. After a few weeks my insulin requirements appeared to change and was going low a lot (mostly at night or with litterly any exercise). i was told to try reduce basal alongside went to a different ratio for the fast acting. over time as complained constantly having to eat "chasing insulin with food" I'm now taking zero insulin. The DSN alongside consultant have said that for those newly diagnosed with type1 its possible to enter a honeymoon stage where your pancreas has recovered enough to produce some of its own insulin and in can in some cases allow the person to come off it altogether for days/weeks/months or in rare cases years.

I presume your using a CGM device. I've found any pressure anywhere near the area of sensor can result in 'false lows'. If its only nights that your going low as you checking those lows against a fingerprick readings?

amyway ensure to bring it up your insulin needs with your dsn / consultant, they can change over time. strongly suggest especially if newish to being diagnosed that you ask about dafne :) whilst speaking to them have you got a different daytime vs nighttime target? nighttime for me was a higher target 7-10 vs daytime target 4-8. not sure if your eating a 'supper before bed' or if indeed you want to some complex carbs may prevent overnight lows (< 4). the query i'd make especially if you share your cgm data with medical team would be to check if back ground insulin dosage is ok or could be altered and ask what them what the best way to go about that would be. good luck :)

Morning All 7.6 but got up an hour earlier. @Bcgirl I too love fresh cherries. The south east county of Kent grows them in abundance and you can buy them fresh from the field at the farm gates. Lovely memories. I am having small bowl of English strawberries and raspberries while the season lasts but I do miss cherries.

Off for a swim in a bit on this drizzly dreich day. at some point over the next week or so need to go mainland to get some school supplies for daughter, she goes back in a couple of weeks time. Also require to buy some more clothing for myself again. loads of weightloss now :O 69.05kg today. In january was upto size XL for trousers, went through L then M which started to fall down... now wearing Small. This afternoon plan organising my wardobe, throwing out all XL and some L. sort out L at at bottom (incase go back up to that) M ontop. and need a few extra small pairs to ensure have plently changes :) Same t-shirts etc too. Hopefully some nice sales will be on when pop across to get daughter stuff over the next week :)

@grantg I had a similar experience a couple of months ago. Didn't realise that a spin-off of going low carb was weight loss. I found I lost at least a couple of inches (5cms) from my waist. Had an incident when going through the airport scanners, having removed my belt and told to hold my arms out. My now very loose trousers decided to leave my waist, succumb to gravity and head downwards, ending up around my feet. Certainly brightened up the rest of the folks and security staff but not so much my embarrassed wife who said it was like being in a Carry On film. On the positive side she volunteered her services and dutifully sewed up the waistband on most of my trousers to prevent any further awkward "flashing" incidents. Thank you low carb.

Oh BTW 6.8 today

lol for the airport incident :) I've not went 'low carb' eating a fair bit less carbs than did prior most of the time...
breakfast = 28g 2x wheatabix 26g usually + approx 30g peanuts which is 2g. swim 40+ lengths afterwards. lunch usually between 18 and 35g carbs evening meal between 25-40 max. a wee walk 30ish mins with all meals if not swimming. snacks - mostly low carb peanuts/cashew etc yum better i think than prior couple of biscuits / packet of crisps. :)

in may when still was injecting insulin was crazy amount of carbs had to eat just to stay 'in range' :O enclosed a few screenshots curious if they diagnosed correctly as type1, honeymoon stage is what they are currently saying which can last days/weeks/months or in some cases years :( hoping they dont remove the libre however WILL buy if necessary :)

imo i'm so much more likely to be type2 as loads of relatives were type2.
this is for last 2 weeks in libreview
