What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Was going to experiment with eating a protein/ fat snack shortly after waking to see if I can persuade my liver to shut off the "glucose tap" but had a dodgy tummy so postponing until tomorrow.
 
Morning all, 4.55 mmol/L at 6 am. Seems like back on track after taking pain meds for knee pain. Still taking pain meds. Pain meds can raise BP, not sure if pain meds raise BG. Nice sunny weather in Northern California. Have a nice day everyone.
 
5.5 today.
I don’t like it when it doesn’t cool down overnight…it was a warm one yesterday. We’re lucky to still have clear skies…meaning no smoke. There’s a few fires around here so I’m expecting some bad air soon..
Good workout and then a haircut this morning.
Day four of full carnivore. See morning changes but the day numbers haven’t changed all that much. It will take a bit to burn up the glucose reserves.
 
5,2 just off to pool for a swim. Yesterday planned 2km must of miscounted 1700m could swear did 80 lengths Fitbit said otherwise. Weird lows with new libre overnight check against fingerprick 4.4. little bit discoloration around sensor which is a first for me. Wondering with the tiny wee bluish marks from prior insertion sites if they will eventually clear up.

Hopefully you'll get better sleep tonight @Debbiescot without cramps.

@debs248 tummy better today? Gl with experiment. Think a few people have said 3 to 5 almonds appears to help with dawn phenomenal. Ps some protein bars can have fairly high carbs

Out of the sixes and into the 7.2 today. Would normally say I don't understand why but in this case I know it was unfortunately a lapse into some late night drinks and a chinese take-away around midnight with friends. Went to bed with a 9.7 so fully expected a high morning reading especially after a bad nights sleep with gurgling stomach payback. Guilty as charged.

5.8 this morning. A lovely rain last night, much needed for the fires. Good workout today and good sugar control ….did not rise too much. Day five full carnivore. Feeling great. I let my pierced ears heal over a while back and today I decided to have my ears repierced. Haircut yesterday too….a beauty week.
Thunderstorms looming….

Those figures aren't really all that high and are not spikes. You've probably got a touch of dawn phenomenon, where your liver is upping your glucose to give you a start in the morning. Adding carbs via a carby breakfast will usually stop the DP but your BG will still see the effect of the additional eaten glucose.

There's little you can do about that directly, but these days I can stop mine rising with three...

Thanks! Much better today but still not v hungry. I've had to stop eating nuts as I cough/ choke a lot on dry textures. Cheese may become my default if snacking appears to make a difference.

Don't think I've ever seen a protein bar, much less eaten one. Thanks for the advice, I am an avid label reader, especially if anything claims to be "healthy".

10.8 today, normal for me despite unknown quantity of carbs in chinese takeaway. I mostly order meat/ seafood and veg but I sampled other family members' noodles and battered items so BG could have gone anywhere!
 
Fingerprick 5.9 libre 4.7
Skipping daily swim wee rash last few days gradually getting worse maybe too much time in water. Possibly from jacuzzi which went in the day before rash started. Think better off allowing it to clear up got a load of housework to do anyhow.

Breakfast washing on get stuff out to dry before the forecast rain and high winds come on
