Social mixing most sport, Soaps!
Mine was never that high. I think the highest was 68/69ish.
It still took a while to take it in and understand things. I joined this site yet couldn't make sense of what HBAc1 meant or what Carbs were!!!
Everything felt over my head and extremely confusing so I 'wallowed' in my ignorance for a couple of years.
Eventually I risked embarrassment and asked those questions on here, expecting to sound thick!
Well two years ago, almost three actually now, I grasped it all and began to eat LCHF and low and behold I had it!
My AC1 came in at 36!!! I was elated!
Last year 37 and an impressed nurse who made me feel like a winner!
Due to be tested again in September and full of enthusiasm for getting it right in the end :)

Fairly modest HbA1cs of 60 and 61at T2 diagnosis end of November 2013. Then pre-diabetic levels 47 and below since then. My diabetes was caused in part by an unwanted too high carb diet, and being able to cut back down on those carbs brought levels down immediately.

Can I ask what you eat for fibre. I struggle with that part of it. The dietician I spoke to said include whole grain sourdough bread, brown rice, oats and potatoes occasionally but to me that conflicts with the low carb way of eating

I eat seeds, especially milled seeds. Linseed, or chia or some of the mixes you can buy in Lidl or Aldi. 1 tablespoon a day, usually mixed into thick greek yoghurt keeps me regular. If I don't and start to seize up I increase to 2 or even tablespoons until things move, then back to 1 tablespoon a day.
I was told about seeds as good fibre by a gastroenterology several years ago as a tool to manage ibs

I don't include any grains, don't eat potatoes. I never even think about fibre. I do eat some plants to get the no more than 40 gm of carbs a day.

My figures were similar. What has your approach been? Cheers Nick
I'm taking metformin (2 x 500mg), switched to a low (under 100g typically) carb diet and also have lost around 3 stone in weight (BMI reduced from 28.4 to 22.8).

@pinkjude Wow really! I'd never touch bread, potatoes or rice of any kind! I 'can' get away with the oats as long as they are the coarser ones, but not many can tolerate them. So once in a while I have just a few of those as a porridge mixed with chia, pumpkin seeds and maybe some flaxseeds, then add half a dozen raspberries. I cook this in a half milk, half water mix, and top with a drizzle of double cream. I also add chia and pumpkin seeds to yogurt as a breakfast if I eat one, although my breakfast is probably better called Brunch since I don't eat before at least 11am. I also eat Walnuts, Pecans and Pistachio nuts .. a small handful straight after a meal so that I don't have a gap which would enable my insulin to rise again. I'm lucky that I can have a small Apricot or Peach with a meal too if I want a change from nuts. Both have lots of fibre. Because I missed having mashed potatoes sooo much I experimented with using steamed Cauliflower florets, then whizzing in my blender with some cream cheese and butter plus seasoning and now I have a mash far tastier than potato! I also eat lots of salad greens, which contain fibre too :)

Hi, my HBa1c was 103 at diagnosis in March, been working really hard and 4 months later at my first 3 month check have got it down to 43 and lost 13kg v pleased

Did you do this through diet alone? I am determined and got mine from 115 to 100 in 3 months. Docs are keen to get me on glyclozide but I dont want!

Im getting horrific migraines but may not be linked I think food triggers them

Well done by the way that’s amazing!
