I had mine yesterday and it was 9.1 (the highest its been for years). Little bit frustrated. Haven't had any tips from my specialist or dietician yet (even more frustrating)...

I have been on Insulin, Metformin, then Gliclazide and now on 62 units of Novomix 30 daily (increasing the dose every three days) plus Gliclazide tablets. So far, all have failed to bring my HbA1c down and it is climbing steadily and now at 10.8% (SEE BELOW).
UPDATE 5th December 2010: As you will see in my signature below (which updates on all posts automatically), things have changed pretty fast! 516 units of insulin now, is a lot more than 62 units. I was so concerned that I visited my GP a few days ago & he has put me on Orlistat (Xenical) capsules. These capsules stop about 30% of ingested fat from being absorbed & instead, the fat is ejected anally. The result is bright orange liquid fat being projected all over the toilet bowl by lots of flatulence! The leaflet with the capsules warns of flatulence & incontinence being very common side-effects. I shall, for the first time since I was a baby, have to wear "protection", in the form of panty-liners; and YES, I AM a MAN! The capsules are designed to encourage weight loss & they are certainly encouraging me to further reduce the little amounts of fat that I eat; so as to avoid the unpleasant consequences.
My GP warned me of the side-effects & he also said that a REALLY GOOD aspect of the Orlistat capsules, is that they reduce the Blood Glucose of diabetes patients. By heck, he was right! I'm in my 5th day of taking this medicine & have reduced my insulin today, from 516 units to 440 units; even after doing this, my BG before meals is in the 4.5 to 5.0 range. It was 9.0 to 13.0 five days ago!

6 - 6 - 6.2 - 6.4 - 6.6 as of yesterday... not low carbing and haven't really changed my diet or life at all.
The doctor seems pretty pleased witht he results... I'm a bit worried it is on a upward trend, but hope to keep in the low 6s from this point onwards.
I have done DAFNE, but I was using the principles before I had done the course.
