When to call an ambulance

Why do you find it embarrassing?
You're just tring to learn to manage diabetes and diabetes doesn't play fair.

It's not embarrassing.

Weren't you in hospital a week or two ago as well?
it;s embarrassing because I can't keep this under control. I was in hospital just after Christmas for about 5 days

All the nurses know my name. So do the cleaner's. That's why it's embarrasing.

That's just lack of experience and the time it takes to learn.
It's like being embarrassed at not speaking a language fluently after only two lessons, it doesn't make sense!

How was your diabetes managed at that time? Did you have hospital food on the same mealtime doses you are having now?

Been there, done that .......

Trust me, when I was younger I had just started a new job and hadn't quite got round to telling them I was a T1, well I had a hypo and basically tried to fight of the work people trying to help me and they had to ring my mum to see if I had any know medical condition, I was about 25ish - now that was embarrassing ........

Insulin usage and control can be very very difficult at times, even those of us who have been on insulin for a long time can still have issues

If I go into ICU (which I am pretty sure I will) I'll be away for weeks :( They stopped my insulin last night

I won't remember any of this if I go into ICU. Maybe a good thing

I understand. I guess they wouldn't stop insulin unless you didn't need it, at least for now. I am well out of my depth with your condition, so I can only send you my very best wishes. Stay positive. This is the best chance of sorting out what's happening to you.

If you do go in ICU, I think they will allow you to use your phone if you want (they do in the UK) but Australia might be different.

Keep strong.
