Putting my tin hat on!

I'm part Scottish, so why can't I have the option to vote for the SNP in my constituency or in England, Wales or Northern Ireland?
I'm part Welsh, so why can't I vote for Plaid Cymru in my constituency or in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland
I'm part Yorkshire, so why couldn't I vote for the Yorkshire party?
I'm mostly Scouse, we don't have that local type of party, Why?

We had a UK general election, why is it who the parties put forward in your constituency you can actually vote for?
Why can't people in Northern Ireland vote for the Lib dems?
It's crazy!

Monster Raving Loony party, or else it's the greens!
How many votes do you want!

There is a case for an English Assembly/Parliament dealing with English issues and using English money to pay for them. Then we all have our own assemblies, and Westminster can become a Federal Parliament dealing with only those matters that affect us all equally, are not devolved separately, and are paid for by us all.

I believe that this is probably the best solution. Largely autonomous regions with equal powers might end calls for Scottish Independence which i think would weaken all parts of the UK. Germany has a federal system but I don't know the details.

Don't mention the word 'federal' and England in the same phrase, please! (Isn't that swearing in the media, as is socialism?)

But, I agree with that!

Will that get rid of the house of lords? (Wishing!)

Hopefully. We would need to work out how a democratic second chamber might be set up. Of course, we should have thrown out the Bishops long ago. They're only there because Henry VIII 'nationalised' the C of E

That's far too sensible an idea Bluetit1802 and we all know politicians are not paid to be sensible. I did say to my husband (left leaning!) today that bearing in mind Conservative/Labour between them pulled in 84%? of the vote, and as a country we are facing probably the most difficult 2 years, why not put party politics aside and work together for the good of the people they represent? Let's start with the Brexit negotiations. Get a cross party Conservative/Labour negotiating group together. With the size of the vote the 2 parties hold that's a strong mandate. Bring in MPs with knowledge of the particular problems of the farming/fishing communities to look after their interests?
The governments in Europe manage perfectly well without majorities through cross party cooperation so why not here too? I'm not suggesting a formal coalition - that would be a step too far but for goodness sake there is common ground between them and it may be the opportunity to really sort things out.
Maybe then the abuse would stop because I am sick to the back teeth of it. Get rid of all the ridiculous sound bites for political gain. Make sure policies are properly discussed and explained properly to the public without stirring up hysteria (That would upset the trolls).
Most people probably want what I want ; a good education for our children/grandchildren; health and social care when it is needed; safe communities and being able to go about your day without fear; thriving economy.
As I said probably far too sensible but we can dream!

That is also far too sensible. :) I agree though that the conservatives and labour parties should work together as far as Brexit is concerned, bringing in those with experience and specialised knowledge from both parties. It is far to important to mess up, and affects all the rest of the issues we all care about. There will be good ideas and bad ideas from both parties, but working together might just iron out the bad ones.

Another thread? Is God really evil; or, basically, just an underachiever.
Oh no!
You are not getting me on that!

I would sum it up like this!

There is a board game of chance and fate and from the roll of the dice, things are decided and judgements are made by the pieces (us) on the board, which affects our lives. There is no overall control and free will dominates. There are the users, the abusers, the weak, the strong, the lucky and not so lucky!

And the winner of the game goes away chuckling!

Ah. Interesting. Philosophy doesn't get the washing up done, though, so think on.

Isn't God on our side? (That's what millions of soldiers all over the world have died for!)
Only the ones who died in the last 5,000 years, because the DUP says that is when She created the Earth.
That might be official Education Policy soon, now they're calling the shots.

Got to love the creationists!
Well God does??

According to the news this week it is now believed because of the recent finds in north west Africa that we were around well over 300, 000 years ago!

I think someone missed a couple of noughts off!
