I've been watching Spiral too. It's excellent. Great actors & believable characters. The guy who plays Roban looks like a tall version of Bernie Ecclestone (F1 boss) and Geoffrey Fittisou - let's just say I wouldn't kick him out on a cold night! Still trying to work out how it's going to end. I think after Saturdays last 2 episodes it will be Wallander again which I also love (but not Ken Brannah who is too much of an act-oooor)Just found this interesting thread. As I live in France, I can't get catch-up TV, so have to know what might be good in advance to set up to record it from satellite. So I really appreciate any tips!
Read Wolf Hall and it took me a while, but I do think she's a brilliant writer and so much cleverer than me! So have recorded the TV programmes and am looking forward to them.
Anyone a radio fan? Her short stories (assassination of Margaret Thatcher, etc) were recently serialised on Radio 4 and can be accessed via radio I-player( which I can get). I just love stories being read to me - a real comfort thing for me.
Also excellent at present is BBC 4 Saturday night's Spiral. I've seen the first 3 series (Engrenages from French TV) but have missed Series 4. The current one is series 5. Violent but realistic and informative particularly about French justice system.
Whilst we're sharing this sort of thing, I have followed some of the MOOC courses - great quality on huge variety of subjects. I've followed some on forensic science and police methodology that we see so often on TV. I really recommend having a look at what's available. www.FutureLearn.com
Happy viewing/listening,

Yes @Janiept I walked round the cemetery ....Holloway sanatorum was a lovely hospital in its day ....sadly most of it is now houses , some parts are still have a preservation on it ...And there are open days ...sometimes ...Yes it's a lovely part of the world and I have lovely memories too. Definitely the best place I have lived in. I have walked many hundreds, possibly thousands (no exaggeration) of miles across woodland attached to Sandhurst Mllitary Academy and loved the people there too.
The strange thing is I was there for 20 years and was never aware of Holloway sanatorium - just had to google it and may have driven past it on the A30? Did you ever walk round Brookwood Cemetery? Not at all a gloomy place but very beautiful and peaceful.
I had better stop there as I could go on forever. Thanks for reminding me of it all Kat and making me smile
I am going to enjoy as well ...makes me laugh so much ....I need help.
Monday's, Broadchurch which is so good. Even better Wednesday's, Wolf hall.
Now I need help with my Friday's, Why do I enjoy Benidorm so much.

Spiral on Saturday is episodes 7 & 8 of 12 so another couple of weeks to go. Yes I prefer Krister to Rolf but I find he does grow on you. I loved the Bridge but hve no idea why they decided to do The Tunnel which was the same story but in the channel tunnel and wasn't a patch on the original. Loved the Killing as well but couldn't get intoBorgen. I've got Fortitude recorded to watch but it does look good. Did you ever watch Braquo - another French crime series but much grittier than Spiral.I must catch up with Spiral, might do it this weekend. M. Fittisou is gorgeousI also like Wallander and agree about Ken B, also I don't think the UK version has the same desolate quality as the originals. I prefer Krister Henriksson to Rolf Lassgard, I think he has more depth and a quiet intensity, Rolf is a bit over dramatic. Did you watch The Bridge and The Killing? Fortitude looks good but I don't get that channel :-(
Great fun , we watched DVD Mrs Browns boys this afternoon , we did have a laugh ...We have to record Benidorm as will be watching the three muskerteer's showing at the same time .
Love all the romance and swashbuckling
Then we watch Benidorm afterwards .
Why do they put on and show good stuff at same times ?

I got hooked on Spiral after a friend loaned me the boxed set. I've only managed to watch episode 1 of this series though
Jane, there is a Coursera course on Historical fiction .( I remember it included something about Mantel though the 'set' books included are much lighter) The peer review assignment included looking at archives (on the net) and sketching out ideas for a novel. It's now an 'on demand' course; no idea how long the peer review takes in this format . I might go back and do it again, I gave it up when it was a timed course as I had another 2 on the go at the same time.Just found this interesting thread. Yes Those Who Kill, I think it was on Channel Four pretty sure it was Swedish. The Scandi countries seem to have a knack of doing stylish, gripping crime dramas. Not heard of Polisse, will have to check it out, thanks for the tip offOoooh yes, I loved Braquo. Didn't see The Tunnel, and I agree about Borgen. There was also another series called Those who Kill which is excellent, I think it was Swedish , something Scandanavian at any rate. Aargh, I'm annoyed I can't get Fortitude. Just catching up on Spiral, M. Jardin est morte! Polisse is another one to look out for, I can't remember if it is a film or series though
Been scrolling through You Tube. Looking for a particular Johnny Cash, now if I can get the words Mr Chris can get learning for open

But tonight it's Royal quiz night with proceeds going to our local Neo natal unitso I shall be out for over two hours and a very worthy cause.
Last night I watched BBC 4,from 8pm, Digging for BritainTimewatch Smileys people and finally, The joy of the guitar riff which was fantastic, with many outstanding guitarists including Chuck Berry, didn't know I would of enjoyed it so much, excellent, well done BBC 4
Learnt just on the news that Hilary Mantal calls her own home ...Wolf Hall ...
