Type 2 Life

It's highly unlikely that your GP will advocate LCHF as the official stance of the NHS is for diabetics to eat carbs with every meal. In fact some of our members successfully follow that way of eating .I myself have been following lchf for 7 months now and was able to stop taking my meds in Nov last year. I took Metformin, Ramipril and Simvastin for over 9yrs until I found this forum and started lchf. Some others can cut their medicine dosages after cutting carbs or following lchf. You have time to find the right way for you and regularly testing your blood is the main way to find which foods suit you. Good luck!

Hey....hello you lot. I'm pleased to see we have a lovely new home. This morning my blood glucose was a healthy 4.8 fasting. I'm ok with that number. Had my eye screening this morning too. How long does it take for these darn drops to completely wear off? I've got my sunglasses on right now, which admittedly makes me feel like a rock star. Wearing them indoors as I'm lying down, TV on, iPad & nibbly things to hand (salted popcorn is my treat today.) One is allowed to self indulge when one is a tad delicate.

Love the pic. Keep posting

@kjc2011 - Hello again. As a suggestion it may help if you were to keep a Food Diary (a lot of members do), record the foods that you ate and your blood sugar before and then 2 hours after eating. Over time you will be able to see what foods gives you rises in blood sugars. Drink plenty of sugar free fluids - Water is best.
Enjoy the remainder of your evening.:)

Maureen where did you see AlisonJanes post? She's not been on the forum for months, that's great if she's posting again
Hi. Sure it was Alison's pic, I can't see close at all trying to use magnyfier, maybe I picked up on old pic, I was very surprised cos haven't seen her for ages, I was wondering where she is. It WAS her pic. Sorry I must has jumped on to a previous page. Wonder how she is?

@kjc2011 - Whoops!! Sorry, yes you did say about the Angina & Heart Bypass. I don't follow the LCHF diet, because I have Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) I was diagnosed with Fibrosis in January and waiting to see a Liver Specialist. My GP told me that my diet will probably be "tweaked" and said to watch my intake of saturated fat, and keep my Cholesterol as it is.
You mention you have a non alcoholic fatty liver, years ago I was diagnosed with that, I cut out so many foods, spices ect snd finally about 1/2 years ago all my liver tests have been in normal range, had gallbladder out now I can eat most things most of the time if I want, mind you specialist frightened life out of me but it worked, but never knew what caused it. Wish you luck I'm sure you'll be ok

Hi @maureen5752 - Thanks for that interesting read. I've had the Fibroscan and got my score, just waiting for the appointment to come around and see the Liver Specialist. My Liver Function is checked on a monthly basis because the levels are 'abnormal' - got blood test for next week. Good Night :)

Sorry it's late just noticed your txt. I had blood tests every month then 3 months. Don't know what caused it, I was checked for every imaginable thing, took a long time, then liver one day test showed normal and stayed that way, never knew why so take care sure you will be ok good luck

Awake early this morning, dreams too real...
Bit grey out but no wind and no rain so fingers crossed.
Footie back on after Internationals, which I enjoy listening to.
On a six month secondment at work, which is to be made perm as everyone thinks it's going to so well.
5.6 two hours after steak and things and FBG was 4.9, which is as good as it gets for me.
Had a post deleted last night, which with hindsight was probably right
Wish you all a good weekend.

Was so positive today and tried really hard for breakfast I had 1 weetabix with a small 200ml carton of fresh orange followed by a 30 minute walk to work. dinner a small slice of cheese pie with salad and an apple, and then for tea sausage mash peas and gravy followed by a bg yesterday 15.7, first time ever tested at the docs and then this morning 13.2 this evening up to 16.7 all meds taken as well but I suppose they are not going to work straight away and going to take time can't expect it to change overnight tomorrow's another day
I know everyone's different, but if i ate those sorts of meals my sugar would be 15+. The only way I can keep my readings below 8.5 after meals is by not eating bread, potatoes, rice, pasta or sugar (including fruit). I know that the official advice is to eat carbs with every meal but that really doesn't work for some people and maybe you're among them?

There is a really helpful moderator on here @daisy1 who will be able to advise you more. If you read what she posts and try adjusting your diet then you might find it helps. I have found the best thing for me is testing everything I eat to work out what sends my sugars up.

Happier this morning with my fasting 5.9 - and surprised too! Never had crackers & cheese at 11.30pm, opted for Cheese Sandwich with Colmans mustard and loads of sliced raw onions. Tested at 2.15am just before bed and it was 12.5 - had 1 Tramadol and slept a good 5 hours, only woke up cos I was "bursting" for a wee, and my mouth tasted like a 'Gorilla's Armpit'!!! (the raw onions):D

My daughter is home for a hens party (she gets married in 2 months) I drove to Sydney to pick her up from the airport last night (a 6 hour journey in total)

Whilst driving I had 3 x 25g packets of crisps and 2 x 25g packets of peanuts. My justification was that I needed the energy to keep awake whilst driving through the evening and into the early hours(fair enough). But my daughter hadn't eaten so we pulled into a roadside McDonald's and I helped myself to a junior cheese burger and small fries. When I got home I ignored the meter and thought I will face that when I wake up. BFG was 4.4 which was very surprising. However weigh in is tomorrow so I might pay yet.

Morning all, I was a little bit naughty yesterday and had some Brussels pate with cheesy oatcakes - I paid for it this morning when I woke up to 7.0! Oh well, it could have been worse

So today is a bit of a day... after many months of jeans that are too big and needing a belt I finally found a pair of 30w32l in a charity shop. Didn't try them on, thought I would risk it.... did wonder when putting them on this morning... they looked sooo small..... but they fit like a dream and don't need a belt! The difference between 30's and 32's is amazing.... down from 36-38's two years ago...:)
Now I have to stop losing weight...
