Type 2 Life

Had just slices of Cheese for 11.30pm supper, went to bed at 1.30am and blood sugar was 7.9. This morning's fasting was 8.2:( - must have had my Liver at work dumping on me? I am baffled ?:banghead: Increased Insulin by 2 units this morning to 44 units.
That is bazarre. :(
Was your day a good day? No naughties.
Trust you to be the opposite to everyone else. Go back to combining crackers William. It obviously works for you.
This tells me alot. You have to try the opposite to others for your success.
I cannot have alcohol, no matter what it is. Ive tried white wine, red, rose, shandy, larger, bitter and spirits. Vodka neither helps me out.
No assistance except huge amount of insulin. Weight loss is my only answer now. Thinking of using appetite suppressants! Worked in the past.

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all having a good day. Sounds as though the site had problems today. Were you all getting withdrawal symptoms?

@ickihun, I hope you find a solution that works for you and you are happy with soon.

@liam1955 , agree that you should stick with the crackers, they work for you.

Thanks for all the hugs they've been much appreciated :)

@v4victory you look like you have experienced a typical liver dump. Try testing before getting out of bed. I keep my meter near my bed incase of a hypo through the night. Once you rise as does your bgs.
Not going too long without food prevents your liver dumping. Some have a supper to prevent that.
Hope this helps :)
Ps. Some cottage cheese has sugar addded. What carb level is your cottage cheese?

I stopped all alcohol on diagnosis in 2010. I don't miss it. I don't need it to relax or socialise as I am daft as a brush anyway. I like waking up with a clear head and don't regret quitting drinking at all. :)

@eddie1968 I don't drink either, my dad died suddenly 7 years ago and I had to deal with his financial affairs as well as keep the rest of the family going. I was so busy I couldn't even think about having a drink, especially cos I used to get the most godawful hangovers!

I've only just started experimenting since some get lower fbgs on wine or vodka.
Most of my adult life ive either been preparing to get pregnant or have been pregnant so very little has passed my lips but i needed to experiment for lower fbgs recently. Nope. No improvement from alcohol for me. ive gave up trying now. I am what i am. No weight loss either no matter what i do so i need to resort to severe measures if i want improvement.

@ickihun - Yeah Vicky think I will have my crackerwheats with my cheese tonight for supper. At 7pm last night we had a piece of Apple Pie and sugar-free custard, but my blood sugar before bed was 7.9 at 1.30am and I was quite happy with that. I woke "briefly" around 6am threw off the Duvet as I was 'hot' = so wonder if that was my Liver at work??:banghead:
Been shopping today and bought salad stuff: Cucumber, Tomatoes, Gherkins, Beetroot (not in vinegar) and tiny New Potatoes to have with tinned Tuna fish for Dinner. Had whilst out a Latte and slice of Lemon Cheesecake for a late lunch 3 hours ago, have just tested and it is 4.6 :). I don't drink Alcohol because I don't believe in taking tablets with Alcohol.

William do you take insulin in ratio to carbs? I take a mixed insulin which is needed in huge amounts due to my severity of insulin resistance. I take the same amounts every day now. Now that im back on canagliflozin.
Your insulin can provide you with lower fbgs but mine adds weight not reduce my weight. I cannot eat potatoes or any carb without a 10+ spike. Lchf keeps my bgs from flucuating. Im happy with my diabetes management but not my weight which entails me needing so much insulin.
I can get my fbg into the 3s and 4s without much effort but i add weight.
What is your priority?

Forgot to take diabetic medication and ADHD medication this morning.

1 mug of coffee with Kenco Rich coffee granules, 2 sweeteners and semi-skimmed milk.

5 spring onions.

Piece of cheddar cheese.

3 tomatoes.

1 banana.

4 apples.

I am a mentally disabled individual with an autistic spectrum disorder and ADHD.

Blood Glucose Reading at 6:21 pm:- 7.1 mmol.

@ickihun - Hi Vicky. The Insulin I take is Humulin i (long acting isophane) and I take it between 8.30 - 9.30 am every morning. It believe after 18 hours it is used up, by my body. I did ask the Diabetologist last November if I could split it to 21 units in the morning and 21 units in the evening = but, no! I even asked if I could have fast acting Insulin that I could inject just before eating = but again no! My Diabetes review at the Hospital is round about May. I also take 2000mg a day of Metformin and the 1 Dapagliflozin.:)

Hello @jonnybaker45. Interesting that you can eat apples and bananas - they both send my levels soaring. in fact, almost any fruit pushes me up. I used to eat a satsuma almost every day, but have had to knock that on the head. Hope I don't end up with scurvy!

No scurvy. Minerals taken from other foods. Seamen had a limited diet. So scurvy prone! :)

Sorry william I can have potato, reheated only. No spike. :)

Oohhh dear my bloods have been so erratic today. Started off 6.9, then after breakfast 7.1, before lunch 3.8, after lunch 8.9, before my evening meal 4.3 then after way down 2.8. Managed to then get them up to 7.5 after a few jelly babies and slice of toast. My diet hasn't changed, havent done any more exercise than usual and no stress. Just a nice relaxing day at home. Any suggestions anyone? Or does this seem quite normal to be up and down xx

What kind of medication are you talking @kjc2011 ? This would be a good question for the Ask a Question forum? That way many more members can answer from knowledge and from their own experience. I have never had experience of such wildly fluctuating BG levels myself

Hi @13lizanne I am on pioglitazone 5mg once daily and gliclazide, 80mg twice daily. I will go to ask a question forum and repost, see if anyone else has experienced this. Thank you xx

Hello @johnnybaker45 have you remembered to take your evening medications? Sometimes I used to forget too then I got a little tray to put my daily medications in to help me remember. My youngest son has an ASD disorder and I sometimes talk about life on the thread called Chat for ASD families. He doesn't have diabetes mellitus but I have had type 2 for 10 years. Your food list seems to have very healthy options

It might be that your Gliclazide is bringing your levels down too much, see what others think and don't forget to list your meds? Take care

I take metformin & gliclazide morning and evening with meals, doctor told me if my bgs are 5 then don't take meds as it will bring sugars down, which can cause hypo, don't know if you take same meds. Hope it gets sorted, my bgs Can go Erratic occasionally, for different reasons, food , stress, not eating on time or being unwell.
