A very good Sunday afternoon to all fellow sufferers of Type II Diabetes Mellitus,

I am posting to inform yourselves that although I remembered to administer my Lixisenatide Glucagon-like Peptide injection and also all my oral medications each for my Essential Hypertension, Urinary Retention, ADHD and Asperger Syndrome, I am writing with much regret to admit relapsing on my committment to abstain from consuming complex carbohydrates by consuming a rather exorbitant portion of cheese pizza that my good friend whom is a mental health service user shared with me and my other mental health service user friend had some too although he's not diabetic. I feel thoroughly mortified that I didn't maintain the 'stickability' to persevere with the carb-free promise I had made and am full of self-reproach and self-hatred but I'm not going to let it get me down, I'm going to continue with even more zeal than initially as it's made me more determined and more forthright, the one mistake I made. As my late, dear mother said to me once long ago: 'if at first you don't succeed, try, try, again'.

My Blood Glucose Reading at 2:03 pm today was 7.1 Millimoles Per Litre.

Have a wonderful day, my friends and mutual diabetic companions.

Thanks I will, doctor suggested coming of gliclazide just before op, I didn't want to mess with my body so near to op and diabetic nurse agreed, but was told to cut down, come off after op, I asked about strips and was told when I stop gliclazide I won't get any more strips and will have to return machine, I got nerve damage cos I was told don't need to test and sugars went sky high, can't win but I will look around but as you know strips arnt cheap and it's a life thing. Have good day & like your bgs this morning. I was 6.9
@maureen5752 if you can prove you have nerve damage because of diabetes youshould have a case for needing strips, surely. Change drs if your dr not understanding to your health efforts. It sounds common sense for you to still monitor with nerve damage. Have you a nerve damage specialist who can help your cause? Failing that appeal to your local pct board. Your worth it! :)

Hiya everybody,

I've got a new career on the horizon...........................auditioning for the part of Rudolph. I'm just hoping that over the days the stuff I'm taking to 'help' won't show up too much. I've even been having orange ice-lollies to soothe my throat but I can't taste them to enjoy it :bigtears:.

Hope you're all having a good day doing something you enjoy (even if that is doing nothing :)).

Going to catch up on the other threads now, see you later.

@johnnybaker45 in such pizza parties pull the cheesy topping off and enjoy! Only the base that causes us a big problem. Tomato sauce can have sugar in but delve into your cheese and toppings without guilt.
Pizza parties are the best! :)

Hello @johnnybaker45 your blood glucose reading of 7.1 is very good considering that you consumed a piece of cheese pizza yesterday. Your mother was correct, keep trying and do not let your lapse make you feel bad, every one of us here on the forum has done something similar. Some of us have made similar mistakes many, many times but still keep trying with each new day. I hope you have a good afternoon also Johhny. Best wishes.

@jonnybaker45, it's really hard when your friends want you to share a meal which is high carb.it happened to me a few weeks ago, and i ended up eating pizza for lunch as there wasn't another option (it was in someones house and they had made the pizza from scratch). I ended up with a reading of 15 after 2 hours!

If you're able to choose another meal, then do so. Or, as @ickihun suggests, try to just eat the cheese and tomato top and not the base. Was it a takeaway pizza? Sometimes there aren't any low carb options from those places.

Good Morning to all the lovely people on Monday 18th April, 2016,

My blood glucose reading this morning was 7.8 Millimoles Per Litre after I consumed a mug of coffee made with 1 x 5 ml spoon of Red Mountain coffee granules, 1 x 5 ml of Coffeemate and 3 x 5 ml spoons of granulated sugar. I administered my 20 mcg of Lixisenatide Glucagon-like peptide injection medication and 1000 mg of Metformin Hydrochloride and all my other prescribed medicines for my essential hypertension, urinary retention and ADHD and my Asperger Syndrome.

Yes, the cheese pizza was a takeaway. It was donated to my friend of limited means who often gets little presents from people when she goes begging. I don't beg, but I do smoke tobacco occasionally but I'm making big steps in reducing the amount of roll-ups I smoke in order to prepare for my smoking quit which is coming up soon and I'm attentive to my budget plan from my weekly personal allowance of seventy pounds given to me by my corporate appointee who has enduring power of attorney of my disability benefits. People still abuse me financially sometimes though and that's ongoing but my care coordinator and registered medical officer are monitoring this.

I intend to go back to the artificial sweeteners and resume my carb free diet from this moment forward. I ate healthily last night though I had canned tuna, sunflower oil, finely chopped raw red onion, finely chopped raw cucumber, salt and pepper and salad cream and it tasted delicious.

Interesting results this morning!

I tested at 6am with a 7.8! Which was a bit of a what! So re-tested straight away And got a 6.8, then a 7.2, 7.3 And a 7.0 all in the space of 5 minutes? Anyone got a Scooby-Doo as to what is occuring?

Meter checked And control solution applied all ok

Arrrrgh!

Interesting. I have no idea why that should be but I also had 7.8 this morning. I didn't retest though as I just put it down to Liver Dump. Sadly, 7.8 isn't out of the ordinary fit me.

I do know that if you test within a couple of minutes you can get a very different result as your blood sugar is changing all the time. Not as much as 1 mol usually though.

Good morning @johnnybaker45 that was a good BG level result this morning. A "well done" for your healthy eating yesterday and for remembering to take all of your medicines this morning. I hope that you have a very nice day today.

Morning @Lindy1706 , mine have been all over this weekend, from high 9s to as low as 2s and hypo. Had your diet changed slightly, eating later or did you have a bad night sleep maybe. But as you say in the space of 5 mi utes, how strange.
Well it's a shock to the system for me this morning after 2 weeks off on half term back to work today. Just going to have a bit of brekkie and then off. Looking forward to it to be honest seeing all of their little faces brighten up my day. And let's see how I got on testing. I stated off just am testing and after evening meal, but I have up ed the testing for a few weeks just want to see which foods and portion sizes I can tolerate. Even though I have the staff in the classroom for me to be able to nip and do this think it will make me feel really guilty as it will interrupt one or two activities, there's no way round it unfortunately, unless I go back to testing just evening meal and then test all meals of a weekend. Hhhmmmmmm decisions decisions. Have a good day everyone.

Morning @Lindy1706 , difficult to say, though I would suggest the first was the "outlier" as the others have a range of 0.5 units, which, it is suggested, is the variance of measuring devices. Outlier could have been something on your hands that didn't wash off or a strip that was maybe not quite like the others. I think the most I've tested after a high first reading is two and often taken the mean of those.

4.4 am, back in the sub5's!!
Slow roast pork, cabbage and a salad of avocado, radish, olives, sauerkraut and olive oil, glass of white wine and another stiff walk before "Undercover", which I thought had some serious holes in, disappointed.
Bright, sunny and windy round these parts, hope to get a walk at lunchtime, work allowing.

I do wonder if there are trolls on these forums, which I find an odd thing to write. There have been one or two threads on "Fats" that really make me wonder.... hmmmm.... :meh:

@hankjam, I think there are one or two individuals who have "golf club bore" syndrome :). I have them on block so I do not have to read their posts.....it works wonders for the stress levels :)

Good morning Lindy1706
At the moment the industry standard for meter accuracy is +/- 20%, it's changing at the end of May this year to +/- 15%.
All of your results fall within the new 15% so i don't think you have a problem with your meter http://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-glucose-meters/blood-glucose-meter-accuracy.html
If you think about it we are using a 10p strip of cardboard in a meter that cost just a few pounds. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing.

Morning Well I was beating myself up last night about eating a bar of chocolate (Divine dark 60% with ginger and orange), BG 6.0 at bed time - 5.9 at 6am. Now been for 30 minute swim (fairly hard, constant front crawl) and I'm up at 7.8! Haven't been this high for ages ... slapping myself while I eat the health spinach and poached eggs Did also eat biscuits with cheese (super low carb ones but around 10!) ...

Just putting yesterday down as a bad day and getting back to LCHF today
