Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

"Heart Hanin the US-Ups
Beta blockers and thiazide diuretics, which are used for the treatment of high blood pressure, have been linked to elevated blood glucose, though the connection is not as strong as it is with steroids. Statins, used to lower cholesterol, also are associated with raised blood glucose." ..... http://www.diabetesforecast.org/2015/nov-dec/medications-that-raise-blood.html
I thought as much. Thanks for confirming the official stance in the U.S. I wonder if the UK has published similiar? I'll have a look.
I used to believe blood pressure altered a person's bgs but I guess it could have been the meds. Only needed meds whilst pregnant for high blood pressure then a heart specialist gp started me on heart attack prevention meds. Of which I'm truely thankful. Worth any small elevation that can be exercised off if your heart is healthy. Me thinks!
Well worth this info being given it's own thread. More would see this relevant info. It's all about making sensible choices with the correct medical guidance.
Many a heart specialist would sanction prevention, especially for diabetics who are at risk.

15866? or do you mean fasting blood? 10.1. I'm sorry i cant seem to find my way around this forum very well.
Hi @Tanis, and welcome to the forum!
I'm tagging @daisy1 who will send you some useful information which will help you start to get your head around all of this.
I know it's an anxious time when you are first diagnosed and it seems impossible to take everything in, but I promise you will be surprised how quickly it all starts to make sense.
You have taken a great step towards managing your diabetes and have definitely come to the right place.
Good luck in your journey - keep reading the forum, asking questions and sharing!
Hugs x
:)

Thank you @debrasue. I am panicking abit, feeling like if i dont do everything i can right now, i will drop dead! I have never been patient. I did not have a clue i was diabetic until my clever Dr. picked up on the oral thrush and ordered me a blood test for everything. All result were fine except this one. I have quite severe Fibromyalgia and it tends to cloud other problems. When i feel unwell i always assume its FMS. FMS is for life for me and that was hard to accept, now Diabetes is for life too and its all a bit overwhelming. Before anyone says it can all go away with the proper lifestyle, i am 70 and doubt if anything can now be reversed. And there was me thinking retirement was going to wonderful. :(

Hello @Tanis, and welcome to the forum. Retirement is wonderful! I've been doing it for about 7 years now - & it gets better all the time. :D Try not to panic too much; we've probably all felt like that at first, but it will pass and you'll soon settle. It won't take long before you find your feet, and learn how to approach managing things. You may not be able to reverse your conditions, but the diabetes can be controlled, with a diet that is right for you, and maybe a little exercise :)

I just checked through on your posts, and it seems that you contributed a couple of times in the Newly Diagnosed Type 2 threads that other people had started, but I can't find one that you started (maybe I missed it ?) - that's ok, coz it's all very confusing at the start. Perhaps one of the "management" @Administrator or someone, can help out, and move your posts to your own thread, and then you're more likely to get help with your queries, including the starter pack info from daisy1.

Relax and have fun ;)
