What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

True! You've reminded me of John Cleese in Clockwise, "It's not the despair, I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand."
@eggs11 The driven streak in me found 2 mistakes in the quote and desperately wants to correct them - I have in the original - which may give clues to my manner of dealing with aberant fbg and bg readings.

Edit:
There may well be many more, both in that post and others. Please don't tell me - or it will be no sleep till Hammersmith

4 stone - that's brilliant! I have now lost nearly 2 stone but have plateaued the last few weeks - I need to refocus on the weight loss and not over test my blood sugars right now, which I have been doing a bit, as I think it's like weighing yourself too often - got to think of the long game, not fret too much over day to day fluctuations.
@eggs11 WellDone with weight loss your absolutely right it take time for BG to level out and come down Has with weight also little steps, mine was done over a 12 month period going on and off especially when away on holiday and it sometimes took me a while to get my head back on and buckle down. Don't be so hard on yourself it all just needs time! K

good morning all :)

4.3 today

just cleaning the (currently), pretty bare fridge then going out to stock it up again ;) think we'll have lunch out :) have a good day everyone
Enjoy the lunch out,I'm off with my sister later for lunch, see what tomorrow brings! K

Good morning everyone.....6.5 at 9.45am.Ive just read some of your posts.Im doing IF as well as low carb.I miss out on breakfast and eat my main meals between mid-day and 6pm.My morning readings are higher than before I tried fasting.Unfortunately I had to cancel the three monthly diabetes clinic appointment and blood test for yesterday.
It's the overall picture which is important,so I don't stress about the morning readings, much as I would like to see some 5s.
At the risk of sounding preachy we have to remember that our bodies are all different so we progress at different rates, and small steps will get the results in the end.Its a marathon not a sprint has been said before on this siteSorry I do sound preachy!
I've had to take into account the possible damage to my pancreas from years of eating as HCPs prescribe, plus my age(a big factor I think) and the years I've had diabetes.
The great thing about this thread is the way we all encourage each other, and I'm really grateful to you all.

@Glenmac A very thoughtful and sensible post so thank you very much. You are so right about different rates of progress. I also think there is a danger of "letting my diabetes define me" - doing things which I would have considered bat *hit crazy before diagnosis just because I have read or heard it helps lower bg levels for others. Common sense can go out the window in pursuit of ever lower numbers and rather than eating to my meter I may be guilty of living to my meter.
Well, it is Lent so some reflection and new life would be in order!

Hello guys, I’d like to be a regular part of this thread pls. My mornings are bad and I’ve only been testing for 4 days now. It was 12.3 today. I’ve read beach a bit but can someone help me please? Will exercise lowered or raise my bg? Will stress raise it- what can I do about the stress at work? I will probably go on a lchf or something like it eventually. Is bg a thing that is instant or lowered over time? Thanks people x

Thanks to all who have posted re fbg and the time it takes to get past the fatty liver dump.
It’s very encouraging and reassuring to know there is light at the end of the tunnel and such a good bunch of people here to share the road with.

Hi @flexi06 and welcome. Taking your points in order: 1) Exercise lowers bg but moderate cardio lowers gradually and is easy so walking is good; some kind of weight type training helps build muscle which is very good; don't test too soon after exercise as your bg levels will often be raised;
2) Stress will definitely raise bg levels as will lack of sleep, unfortunately stressing about stress and sleep levels raises stress levels - maybe use walking to chill and reflect (my dog walks do this but your mileage may vary)
3) LCHF has been a revelation for many on here so that should be an excellent way forward
4) It often takes time to see marked results just read @eggs11's post just up the page.
Hope this helps and settles you down a little. You are in the right place, asking the right questions and doing the right thing by testing,
