struggling big time

It seems there is no such thing as "normal practice" they all change the rules all the time.

Ally, what on earth has the hospital got to do with it? The bloods were taken at the surgery. They go off to the lab, the lab sends the results back to the surgery, electronically. Either the lab is being slow or the GP or the DN are sitting on them. The receptionist is waffling and fobbing you off.
I know when I had my first blood test for diabetes, the hospital called me during the night saying I should go to hospital, I refused but did say then that I would see my gp that morning which I did. So if the hospital found anything sinister then would have had a call

The damned surgery is playing mind games with me.
My throat and mouth are now so dry that I can barely speak.
Am sure now with having this dry mouth has affected my vocal cords.

I tried again late afternoon to call re blood tests.
Still been told they are not back. I have never known blood tests to take so long.
Re eptionist said if anything bad was wrong, then the hospital would have been in contact by now.
Yes I agree but they were taken on the 16th

Can you ask to speak to the doc/nurse about it? Receptionist obviously knows nothing about it.

I will call tomorrow to try and speak to the dn that did the blood test. My gp is off on a wednesday

I called for my blood test results and all clear.
I also asked if any feedback from the meeting with DN and go on 19th March. Nothing is showing up but the meeting has been logged.
Gp now on holiday until 17th April. A note has been made for the DN to call me next week about it. I don"t really want to see my Gp when he gets back.

ally I had a dry mouth a while back. Like you I was told to buy an expensive synthetic saliva spray, my GP said he couldn't prescribe it for me. When this didn't help he prescribed me some tablets as the dryness may have been caused by acid reflux. I had had a few occasions of waking up and bringing up liquid, but it never had an acidic taste so the thought hadn't occurred to me that this could be the reason. I wondered if this might be what's happening with you too? The dryness caused me to lose my voice too, but then I often get laryngitis, I lost my voice completely for 6 weeks when I was a child.

That's interesting. If you had asked me that 10 years ago, I would have said defo.
The only thing now to cause acid reflux is when I eat hot cross buns.

A quick update.
The DN that I saw called with an update on the meeting she had with my gp.
I knew gp did,nt do anything. DN has arrange for my gp to do a phone consultation sometime today. Am not looking forward to speaking with him because all he ever says, is that my very dry moth and dry lips are caused by snoring. I know it's not that and the DN agrees with me.
DN did say if he says that in the call, then to phone the surgery on a Wednesday when my gp is off and ask for a call from a gp that's working that day. She is unable to pre book that, apparently has to be requested on the day.
I rarely get nervous about a call but I am dreading gp ringing as I am fighting a losing battle with him
All I know is that my gp will call anytime today

I hope the conversion goes well and is productive. In my experience, GP telephone calls are normally after surgery hours, either morning or afternoon. My GP has called me twice about 6pm or thereabouts.

The last phone consultation I had, my gp rang around 7.30pm

As time goes on, the more I Don, t want to speak to him.
I have mentioned to him so many times about my mouth and nothing is done. Even the DN did,nt get anywhere so I won,t.

Would it help to think of the phone call as simply a stepping stone to access the other gp on Wednesday? I am vibing for you xxx

I am like this when waiting for certain phone calls too. Thinking of you, hope it goes well, you deserve it.

Being very naughty, could you pretend to be out then call on Weds anyway?

I have just got off the phone from my gp. Was talking for nearly half an hour.
Re my dry mouth, he looked through my meds online to which can cause the dry mouth. The one that's the most likely culprit is the one I take for my bladder problem. Have been on that 13 years and is roughly when my dry mouth started. As I have taken it today, from tomorrow to stop taking it. Then see how I go. Am happy with that.
Then I got onto the falls that I am having, which I have put down to my neuropathy in both feet and now going up my left leg. I told him about when I was in the local post office and I flopped to the floor, hurting my left leg. Explained since that fall, my left leg from mid calf up to my thigh is painful to walk on. He said wants to investigate this and said to call in the morning for an appointment. I turned very assertive and said, you know how hard it is to get through and rarely getting a appointment. I replied that I wanted him to make me one there and then, to my surprise, he has booked me in on Tuesday morning. Am happy waiting until then
