I hate the feeling that the separate threads have been created. Isn't the whole idea to be supportive and friendly towards everyone? Do we really need separate threads for T1 and T2? This has really saddened me. So I've created this thread.
"A place for us diabetics to have a chat, post blood glucose numbers if you want to, have some fun and banter and a even have a little whinge."
Thanks for starting this thread, I was thinking of doing something similar as I was getting uneasy.
I'm totally supportive of the idea of people with things in common starting a group, so the separate threads for people with various illnesses didn't bother me at first.
I got the impression that the T1 thread was started as it was felt that there are so few T1s compared to T2s that people wanted to create an obvious place for newcomers with T1 to join and feel welcome.
However I think that in both the T1 and T2 threads, the purpose was lost: a newbie with T1 may have read the T2 thread and felt a bit uneasy, and a newbie with T2 may have read the T1 thread and felt a bit uneasy.
Bearing in mind, as the mods have to, that the newbies may be kids, and desperately looking for help and kindness. This is coming from someone who loves banter by the way. Banter between two people who have a feel for each other's sense of humour is one thing. Banter against people who you haven't even met based on an illness they have, in a place where people come looking for help, is another.
I'd love to see the threads continue, and lots of banter, but right now I'm steering clear of both of them until I feel sure that they are a positive thing.
