Morning All 6.7 at 0700 after a sleepless night. My poor chemo friend was very sick all evening and had to call an ambulance at 10pm. Now just me and her 16 year old Westie in the house. Dont know whats going on but have made two 999 calls in the last 10 days.
Not good but thank God for these wonderful responders.
Have a good day, safe travels, stay well.

Plenty of stress in your world lately @PenguinMum so you seem to be coping very well. Seems you were destined to be there to help your friend. Hope she is soon on an upward trajectory and full of admiration for you.

absobloodylutley I agree but having the time and patience to do anything about it as you have is to be admired. You are a hero
I wouldn't say I'm a hero Orson I'm just tired of being pushed around by large organisations...interestingly enough I had another text this morning...the same again advising me I'm over my limit ...pay in cash or we'll send the boys in...I am now just recording them...when it finishes I'm intending to apply a charge every time I've had to check my bank account after the text message...who knows maybe I won't have to go out to work if they keep it up.

good morning all :)

4.8 today

not the best nights sleep last night, never mind, a nice shower, breakfast and then out for a days volunteering :)

mr gee got his flu jab on Tuesday but it looks as if I will have to pay if I want one.

Apparently the search criteria used mean that I was not on the list. Perhaps it's because I'm considered to be 'in remission' although the person checking said she would 'let me know' (whatever that means).

Thankfully I was included in the yearly eye checks and pleasingly the results letter arrived yesterday saying no changes

Hope your day treats you well :)
Are you sure about that geeful...I get a free flu jab I would ask them again you should be entitled to one without paying for it...I've just had a look and found this...its the NHS criteria for a free flu jab...you are entitled...whether your diabetes is in remission you remain diabetic...have a look it may help:

@philchap1 @Bubbsie and @ianpspurs thanks for the kind comments. Luckily my friend has a close group of friends who share the load as she lives alone and doesnt have any close relatives. She is a wonderful lady who gives as more than she receives.
But I dont want any more emergencies for a while. The real good guys here were the crew who attended her though.

Good Afteringnoon all, late on parade again. Sorry. Been duty driver for Mrs J to and from the doctors and blood tests again for me. Then other life stuff. That's my excuse for not posting this morning. Take it or leave it hehehehe.

Bloods this morning were a disastrous 4.9, therefore had to eat to get up to the legal driving limit of 5.0.

Anyway folks enjoy what's left of today, I shall if Mrs J let's me. Must dash Mrs J's chores to avoid.

7.3 Thursday morning. I am not happy. I have only myself to blame (peanut butter on crackers last night), and my next A1C test two weeks from now. I started off the summer so well, eating right, losing weight. Now carbs are creeping back in, vegetables are out the window, and yesterdays morning's roller-coaster of FBG numbers (6.2 - 7.2) is worse today as 7.7 - 7.3 - 7.2. And that's because I'm hungry almost all the time no matter how much "good" food I eat, and the renewed realization that I can never look forward to a satisfying meal again.

Yes, I know things could be much, much worse. And I am grateful they're not. I'm just tired.

Hi @SaskiaKC,

Entirely empathize with you, so here's a big hug from me.

At the beginning of my diagnosis, I had an overwhelming feeling of loss when I thought about so many foods off the menu forever.

I am confident that in the long term you will find low-carb substitutes for some foods, you miss, and with many of the other foods, you may start forgetting how they taste. It is probably just a matter of time until you feel better about continuing to eat this way in the long run.

Hope your hungers gets better once you drop your carbs lower. I find that increasing carbs triggers feelings of hunger for me. Keeping my fingers crossed that things will improve for you.

Remember this is a marathon, not a race. You will find a way that makes you happy and that works you long-term.

Keeping my fingers crossed for your next HbA1c. You will probably find, regardless of this little glitch, that your result will be so much better.

Edited for readability.

Well folks, a minor oversight has occurred.
I’m off to a black tie dinner (I know! Get me and me posh ways).
Anyway every year I face the struggle of whether I’ll still squeeze into the tuxedo. Different problem this year. Forgot all about that bit of the wardrobe.
After a dash to Boots I’m held together with safety pins. Wish me luck and hope my trousers don’t fall down!

Fbs 7.0. Tested again.... 7.6!!!! Highest ever since monitoring. I've gone off the rails this week with the 30th birthday celebrations for my daughter. Too much wine. Big piece of birthday cake, HUGE. Potatoes with my birthday dinner I ate instead of giving away. Pub crawl yesterday as the weather was glorious and it was hubby's last free day before he goes back to work. Too much wine. My favourite restaurant for dinner only to find that have changed their menu. (Jaws music here!).No tapas! Had halloumi....good choice you might think....But it was coated in breadcrumbs when it came! Chicken with.... rice. And I helped hubby with his banoffee pie dessert (due to the influence of the wine). Today I've dusted myself down, put the past few days behind me and put my best foot forward. Onwards and upwards. One meal today. Bacon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms. 3 x coffee with cream. Lots of water. 6.1 after 2 hours. Looking forward to checking fbs in the morning. Not dreading it as I was this time last night.

Morning all. It’s a 5.1 for me today. Very happy - finish up early at work today and off to Germany for a long weekend with warm sunshine predicted throughout.

Have an amazing time @Goonergal And enjoy every second. Do they have 5 guys over there? If you see a 'Fünf Typen' then it's happy days for you .
