What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Fbs 7.0. Tested again.... 7.6!!!! Highest ever since monitoring. I've gone off the rails this week with the 30th birthday celebrations for my daughter. Too much wine. Big piece of birthday cake, HUGE. Potatoes with my birthday dinner I ate instead of giving away. Pub crawl yesterday as the weather was glorious and it was hubby's last free day before he goes back to work. Too much wine. My favourite restaurant for dinner only to find that have changed their menu. (Jaws music here!).No tapas! Had halloumi....good choice you might think....But it was coated in breadcrumbs when it came! Chicken with.... rice. And I helped hubby with his banoffee pie dessert (due to the influence of the wine). Today I've dusted myself down, put the past few days behind me and put my best foot forward. Onwards and upwards. One meal today. Bacon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms. 3 x coffee with cream. Lots of water. 6.1 after 2 hours. Looking forward to checking fbs in the morning. Not dreading it as I was this time last night.

I guess if you are going to have a few days off you may as well make the most of it.

7.3 Thursday morning. I am not happy. I have only myself to blame (peanut butter on crackers last night), and my next A1C test two weeks from now. I started off the summer so well, eating right, losing weight. Now carbs are creeping back in, vegetables are out the window, and yesterdays morning's roller-coaster of FBG numbers (6.2 - 7.2) is worse today as 7.7 - 7.3 - 7.2. And that's because I'm hungry almost all the time no matter how much "good" food I eat, and the renewed realization that I can never look forward to a satisfying meal again.

Yes, I know things could be much, much worse. And I am grateful they're not. I'm just tired.

Hi - I've been through a rollercoaster spell recently so I empathise, but I haven't had the hunger. Is the hunger partly caused by the carbs creeping back in pushing up your insulin levels. Are you getting enough fat in your diet (which will fill you up for longer)? do you need help finding LCHF recipes that you will find satisfying?

Thanks, rhubarb. :) I think maybe the hunger is because I've eaten some carbs, then the craving for them returns so that even though I'm not really physically hungry I'm craving sweets.
But tonight I ate an Atkins low-carb bar and so far, 4 hours later, I'm still not hungry. And it didn't spike my BG. So maybe I can eat one once in awhile when I crave something sweet.
I have had trouble finding low-carb foods to eat, other than meat and some green vegetables. I bought a crock-pot, but I've found that I don't like food cooked in sauces in a pot, and cauliflower just doesn't replace potatoes in the recipes. I've tried zucchini spirals and riced broccoli, and they just taste disgusting.

Dark outside when I awake now which never pleases me. Fbg may well have been 5.2 if the meter is to be believed - I don't especially but readings are now a habit. Not a wonderful level and the major strength of LC eating for me has always been weight loss then control of weight - which temporarily seems to have have gone. If I knew a better way the fat lady would be belting out her greatest hits for this WOE. Heading for my exercise bike, which has become like Linus' blanket , muttering ****ing TINA:angelic:
@Goonergal Enjoy your time in Germany - bfg fan, really??:arghh:

Edited to add the italicised text for accuracy

Good morning all. 5.4 today. Storm Callum passing by, so home gym. Hope it doesn’t blow away.
Sticking to 2 meals for the last 2 weeks, settling as a habit now. Breakfast and lunch, with a fast until morn. It cuts out snacking for me. So shall stick with this going forward.
Hope everyone is well, your BG is in a straight jacket. Have a great day.

Morning All 6.7 at 0700 after a sleepless night. My poor chemo friend was very sick all evening and had to call an ambulance at 10pm. Now just me and her 16 year old Westie in the house. Dont know whats going on but have made two 999 calls in the last 10 days.
Not good but thank God for these wonderful responders.
Have a good day, safe travels, stay well.
Hope your friend is ok

Hi .... my sympathy to you and I dont know how long you've been doing this but I do find it does get easier as time goes on , but I won't lie in that it does take a good amount of time...

5.3 this morning and my first diabetic eye appointment so got my sunglasses at the ready- won’t look at all odd wearing them in these blustery gales!
The first time I went for one of those tests and I got the form it said dont drive so I cycled. - The reason they say dont drive is because of the eye drops which make everything bright for an hour or two. The sunglasses are the best idea !

Well I’ve gone back to my teenage days and am using my Dad Taxi :)

Morning all 5.7 today. ....I've discovered wild mushrooms in most of the local supermarkets and they make an amazing breakfast with scrambled eggs. Almost truffle like ..... I find now in my diet I crave for tasty, tasty things rather than bulk . I know some people dont like mushrooms but if you do its a great time of the year
