Good Morning, @ickihun, my good, lovely friend, My Carers don't always prompt me to go to my GP but they're always happy when I take the initiative and make the effort to address my health concerns with my GP. They've done an impeccable job with my domestics and some, but not all, aspects of my self-care. My one-bedroomed council flat is looking immaculate, thanks to the Carers and Jesus for providing the Social Care Services.

My fasting BGL was 8.6 millimoles per litre this morning.
 
Since last Saturday Ron's had a really good week . He sent off a self referal application for physio. Unfortunately today he had a reply back saying ..... his condition is not suitable for this service and to contact his g.p. also to speak to the chronic fatigue syndrome M.E. services at Derby royal . As you all know he's already attending Derby and it was his C.B. therapist who said that maybe physio might help him and there was no harm in trying . He has a gp appointment on Wednesday morning. Today he's had a relapse due to not being able to sleep last night . Also where sometime ago he had a wisdom tooth taken out , it's now become swollen and painful . Ron says it feels like toothache even though nothing is there .

Could it be an abscess, even thou tooth not there? I'd ask my dental nurse sister but she's having a break from work via Disneyland this time of year. Someone may post, if they know.

Ron says it doesn't feel like one , so something to bring up with gp on Wednesday maybe, along with the liquid metformin.

Hope Dr's appointment isn't futile and useful.
Little man has glue ear diagnosed by a specialist this morning. It explains alot. 4mths is his follow up appointment.

Menopause mood swings have been kicking in so tomorrow will be interesting . I’m not leaving there till Ron gets some proper help. His bgs have been very high . Will let you know what happens Vicky. Also the baclofen he takes for muscle spasms seems to be wearing off as last two nights his arms , legs and head have been on the go .

I'm keep having moments where dihydrocodeine doesn't work as not taking religiously every 4hrs. Awake now 03.15 as had munched on carrot earlier and it's a great fibre. One that cannot wait for sleep, it seems. I'm off back to bed after bathroom. In time for 6am school prep. alarm call. Luckily I can have a catch up on my sleep today. I need it.
I wonder how long I will wait for my op?
 
Just got back from drs . Very reluctantly she has given Ron liquid Metformin. She was trying everything to avoid it though but I wasn’t taking none of her **** . She also said that Ron needed to book his review but I said not going to do anything until we get this sorted . Yes I was loosing my temper .

I'm so glad you got the liquid Metformin sorted. I've never taken Metformin, but I understand they're big devils!

The chemist has had to order it in , will be able to get it tomorrow afternoon. The tablets are quite big. The gp also said she will speak to their pharmacist and see if there are any more of his meds that can be changed to soluble or liquid form. At least she didn’t say that the liquid Metformin didn’t exist.

A few weeks ago, I was talking to a Specialist DSN friend of mine about Metformin - in that instance, for the elderly, and she commented how resistant GPs were to prescribe it, and how unfair it was. Her comments were focusing on the issue that some folks, as they age, find it harder and harder to swallow bulky things - whether meds or food.

As your GP seems open to it, it could possibly be worthwhile you or Ron having a chat with your regular pharmacist about the potential to swap to liquid meds. Them, for those things no exactly available in liquid form, they could have a think and maybe offer suggestions of very similar compounds that are available in liquid form.

I appreciate that changing anything when it's been such a struggle so far will be daunting, but most of us (including me!) don't use our pharmacists enough. They're the experts when it comes to meds.
 
I must admit our pharmacist is brilliant and so are the assistants in there . If swallowing issues persist with Ron then alternatives will have to be found for all his meds otherwise he won’t be able to take them. The gp even admitted that if cheaper alternatives are found for Ron then he will be given that instead of liquid Metformin. She has given him a months supply just to try him on it . Everything comes down to costs.

As I understand it, @tina_marie , to be fair to your GP, the oral solution is significantly more expensive than the tablets. I'm not saying that it's right or fair that they are reluctant to prescribe it, but at around 10 x the cost, it is understandable (when it's not them struggling to take the tablets)

NHS website states that liquid Metformin is prescribed for those with swallowing issues and children of 10 + years of age . If cost is the issue then I would be more than happy to pay for it .
 
Tonight Ron had his first taste of liquid Metformin. Omg the face he pulled . He managed to wear the first lot so I ended up giving it to him . It has the smell of mint . Also after checking his online meds the surgery has put it on repeat.
 
My blood pressure with a healthcare assistant at my GP was a very good 116/73. I also had my hbA1c, ololostomy, sodium, renal profile blood tests done and get the results next wednesday.

I also ate 2 minted lamb chops and a fried streaky bacon and fried egg toasted sandwich at my friend Ioanna's.

My lower back and intercostal muscles have been painful today.
 
Ron's had his metformin this morning. This time he used the syringe , he said it still taste yuck but it was only one shot and not two
