What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

One man's meat is another man's poison they say (very apt on this forum haha). You make me smile every day. Thank you.
At least there were no cupcakes with their odious toppings or coconut involved so I am relatively sanguine. I do find you, being almost my polar opposite in many ways, wholly admirable. Anyone who knows me would look agasp and say "did you really just say that about someone other than Gareth Bale or Clive Lloyd?":angelic:

10.4 at 7.30am and barely a carb yesterday
B egg n bacon
L 50g pâté (1.5g carbs per 100g) boiled egg
D Roast pork, small portion broccoli and cauliflower
Bedtime BG at 11.30pm 7.4
Man hug for wandering into the LC paradox. As strange and perplexing as people who watch Escape to the Country with that loathsome Jules fellow. Must reorder my tolerance pills.

That is my point about LC being a very good weight loss tool but weak for bg control - certainly for me. A tad frustrated.
I swear by weight training pound for pound for blood sugar numbers, fasting and post prandial in my case (HBA1c for me is another matter). Admittedly I might be classed as approaching amateur level, but I think it is possible to make gains relative to ones self. I have not been able to do free weighted bicep curls so have performed band based hammer curls as an alternative (I would have loved to have pushed curls).

The jam for me recently (lower 4's fbg, late 4 / early 5 post prandials) has been free-weight deadlifts, free-weight squats and over head dumb bell presses, augmented by regular weight machine, push pull exercises, especially the lateral pull down and sitting lateral leg press. When I do singles around 85% of my perceived one rep max for deadlifts and lat pull downs, I can read between 10 and 12 calorie burns on the Fitbit for that single exertion.

I think the base of general training is a great set point to see if weights work for you. It may be possible to effect similar muscle reaction with body weight exercise. Form over numbers if you are going to try this, and try to get a gym instructor / PT to check your form. From a physiological angle, it makes sense that building muscle density encourages GLUT4 insulin independent up take of glucose and with greater surface area of muscle more room for the glucose to go in, in combination with the epoch effect.

Morning...had a great day with friends yesterday...one or two small hiccups whilst there...I had a 'stand off' with a carb laden Krispy Kreme doughnut ... some crisps & pizza...I lost...they were delicious:greedy:...woke to an unsurprising 6.3
Sounds great @Bubbsie. Of course foods like that still taste delicious. People trying to argue they don't are wasting my time and can't be taken seriously. Knowing their place in life is the key. With friends and not wishing to be like a dementor's kiss about LC was absolutely the time and place.

Thanks for that @Mbaker. The two attempts I have had to join a gym have been very frustrating in that all they wanted to do was get me doing cardio. I have free weights, a machine and dumbells at home. I wanted more than youtube videos to help me but no go. I am a bit wary due to stenosis trapped nerve effects but convinced muscle, especially core is better than the knife. As you say, methinks form is critical with those factors. I don't want big weights just as much compensation as possible.

Absolutely Ian...yes it was the right time & place.

Perfect week for that job @PenguinMum emails from all and sundry re Black Friday. Just waiting for the annual Chanel price drop fest then I can do my single Christmas shop - oh buy a bag and stuff, apparently the British public now expect that nonsense.:angelic: Strangely, I quite like the shops at Christmas just steer clear of the buying part. That is best done in a slow, considered way from home.
Edited to make it clear I was referring to smelly stuff not TV

Cardio isn't muscle sparring in my case, it is still good especially HiiT based. I just thought I would throw in these ideas as I can sense although you are getting great results, like all Spurs fans you want more.

Good morning everyone woke up feeling low this morning Libre said 3.5 and meter said 4.4 my chest hasn’t been great for a couple of days and I’ve been quite tired but I’m going to see my chest dr so I will probably get my bloods done I have a suspicion I’m a bit low in iron. Have a good day all

Son’s birthday over the weekend so we opened a couple of bottles of champagne to get the evening going. Both were supermarket buys last year (not m&s but otherwise Waitrose or Sainsburys and I suspect the former) (Bertrand de Bessac) and were so horrible we actually poured them down the sink. Very yellow not sure if it was a bad attempt or they had gone off. Sad thing is I have another two bottles! Lanson Black Label all the way from now on lesson learnt. Lol it has been on offer at Saisburys but have had three failed attempts at getting any!

5.6 today and I'm happy with that. Hubby's birthday so taking him out for dinner tonight. Might not be so good tomorrow. New restaurant. I can see some good choices on the menu though.

My bit of chat is another of my long social media posts! Just sharing....cos I love to share......and it might make someone smile and i love that too... have a good day everyone.

Ladies (and some gentlemen!), you know the feeling when you treat yourself to a new handbag because your old one you absolutely loved has finally fallen apart, and everything, yes everything fits in perfectly (i almost needed furniture removals to help today) ........ and you STILL have space.

Pockets for pens (lots of these....could open a bingo hall), mobile phone (It's not small!), makeup (need all the help I can get), purse (All the change seems to have escaped* yet it's still bursting at the seams... and not with money!), diary 2018 (hit and miss as to whether I remember to fill this in anyway), sunglasses for days like today, 4 pairs of expensive poundland readers, half a packet of no sugar polo mints, 3 paper clips (you just never know when you might need one or three), £4.78 in lose change (see above*), tweezers for that rogue chin hair (hubby's not mine ;) .), multiple old shopping receipts, 3 lists of things to do.... now out of date, 2 hair slides (one broken) and a hair bobble (for those bad hair days), a nail file, hand cream, Sainsbury's vouchers galore, a pair of earings I've been looking for forever, my beloved Chanel no. 5 perfume......deep breath carry on......a teaspoon, mascara, lippy x 3, keys galore, blood sugar monitoring kit!!!!. :) bits and bats, more bits and bats, and some more bits and bats. And when it's all in you just sit staring at its beauty. Pulling on the handles. Looking inside again just to check nothing has moved and everything is right where it should be. Throwing it over your shoulder to check the style still suits and it feels comfy. Walking up and down like your lounge is a catwalk. Swaggering in fact. Yes, indeed, you know you have made the right choice when you have done the transfer and you are smiling like a cheshire cat throwing out your old beloved bag. And to think I used to say to my dear mum 'It's no wonder you have a bad back carrying all that around' .

I think you know exactly how elated I'm feeling right this minute!!! Plus STRICTLY Blackpool this weekend and Armenian kebab time. Joyful and triumphant weekend. Must be the time of year .
Happy birthday Mr Deb
