What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Can't read for pleasure anymore always thinking what parts to use in an essay or seminar - nightmare. Besides, favourite fiction writer is Thomas Hardy very unlikely to lift the spirits that man.:banghead: You did jog my memory of the Bill Walsh book The Score Takes Care of Itself which is very helpful. Thanks for that.
@ianpspurs "There is no guarantee, no ultimate formula for success. It all comes down to intelligently and relentlessly seeking solutions that will increase your chance of prevailing. When you do that, the score will take care of itself." (Bill Walsh)"

Recovery vehicle needed due to "missing" lock nut tool - we have never even looked in the boot for that. The sickner is that missing that tool invalidates that section of our breakdown cover:arghh:
This happened to me too. The local garage had to drill the nut off in order to replace the wheel. I had them remove all the other "safe" nuts and replace them with the ordinary type - never had an issue since then

good morning all :)

4.6 today

off to the recycling depot and charity shop today as a result of the household sorting out day yesterday ;) still lots to tackle. We'll have lunch out, LCHF of course :)

Hope your day treats you well :)

Edited to add - now I've got the troll - fol de rol - rattling around in my head ;) haven't heard that in ages!

It helps a bunch if you sign Joe Montana and Jerry Rice though - kinda skews the odds.:angelic:

Tuesday morning 6.8.

@ianpspurs try reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Green Eggs and Ham, Hop on Pop, Make Way for Ducklings, and Don't Spill It Again, James. Not for pleasure, of course ;), but to think about how you can read them to your grandkids.
I can't help it, I used to be a librarian.
Thanks @SaskiaKC. My boys and their children quite like the stories I make up about a magic garden and sweet shop .

Good morning all, 4.6 for me this morning.

@SaskiaKC I'm also a former children's librarian (public library). I always intended to return to the profession when my youngest child was in school (life had other plans, he was severely disabled so I was out of the working world for many years.) The job market changed a lot in the 20 years I was out of it, so the last few years I worked as a "supply" (substitute) teacher for mostly special education teachers or school librarians.

You mean Mr Arden and Ronnie the Rocket radish?

You do realize that now you must tell your stories to us here, don't you? :D

@Chronicle_Cat I know what you mean about the profession changing over the years. That was a problem for me too, trying to come back to it after several years away. I actually found I didn't want to go back to public library work because the atmosphere had changed so much, and by that time it was too late for me to start work on a second master's degree to be an academic librarian.

Or read something by Hardy's friend R D Blackmore stories like Lorna Doone and others about over coming trials and tribulations and the overcoming of what seemed like insurmountable obstacles attaining successful out comes well for the most part any way.

Of course as Blackmore was my cousin a few times removed maybe I am a little biased in his favour.

And don't forget he also was a teacher.
