I'm very excited this morning. Firstly my BS are 5.6 and I had supper at midnight! Secondly I have some exciting news to share.
Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster.
A sad day in that I said goodbye to my beautiful young cousin. 26. But she is resting in peace now. What an amazing service. Uplifting. Positive. Happy. Celebration of her life. 26 years packed full of love, fun and happy friends and family times. Pics on PowerPoint. Hymns everyone knew. Poems. Tributes. So lovely. Then for the wake. An Irish wake. Enough said. It was still going when I left at well past 10pm (I had to travel home to Blackpool and got home just before midnight). I was starving when I got home. Only had some salad, inside of a pork pie and eggs covered in mayo during the day. BS 4.5 last night when i got home. Not been that low for a while. Just had 1 x thin with lots of cheese. and a glass of red. Very late to eat but I was actually what peckish.
I turned on my phone at about 9pm to 7 voicemails, numerous emails and several text messages! Basically the head of DCUK PR team contacted me. The Sunday Mirror are onto the fact NHS have a low carb app and want to feature my story THIS SUNDAY! Then the journalist himself (health journalist) contacted me....left voicemail x 2, text and email! I contacted him and gave him the ok to run with my story and photos (he was checking on copyright re pics). He did day he was using my local paper story wording but I sent him my updated journey as so much has happened since then and all so positive!! I don't think there will be time to edit now to be honest. But still, it gets the word out that low carb works.
This in itself made me so happy. But there's more.....
Then my surgery emailed. Moving forward re doing presentation on my journey in town, supported by council. They are supplying room, refreshments etc. Asking me to choose between venues! Head of PR said she will get us on that This Morning sofa yet!!! Bring it on.
I have a wedding today, my best friends daughter. Beautiful young woman marrying her beloved in the Lake District. Always wanted to go to a wedding there. Hope the weather holds out as it's outdoors by the Lake!!!!
Hope you have good days .
Just a little addition (promise!). At the wake I was mingling with lots of family. Our family is massive. My mum, born in Dublin, was one of 13. Each of her siblings had large families. You can imagine how many cousins I have! So many of us are type 2 diabetic. My age (56), older.... and much younger. Some over weight, some slim, some doing something about it (low carb and keto) and some not. I talked for some time with one cousin who was very clued up. We brought another cousin in on our conversation who is a doctor (non diabetic) and it made a very interesting conversation. There were that many diabetics there it was like being back in Birmingham! But what is apparent is low carb is spreading. Even my Dr cousin confirmed that. Happy days.
