It's true many people call the same wayPlace names and objects, animals or whatever, that are pronounced differently from the way they are spelled.
(Example) :- Worcestershire said as Woo sti shir
Lucky it isn't!Lower Peover -> Lower Peever
ETA
and likewise
Over Peover -> Over Peever which I always feel ought to be Over Pee-over
A local would say Saap'ston rather than Sapiston!grundisburgh... grunnsbrerr
aldeburgh.... owbrer (mainly by some by the second home owners !)
both suffolk..
Also Garboldisham becomes Garble-shum.I live in Norfolk and we have loads of these, for example Happisburgh- pronounced Haze-bru, also Wymondham, pronounced Wind-am, Costessey pronounced Cossy is another.
my grand parents came from sapiston and trostonA local would say Saap'ston rather than Sapiston!
