Morning all! I’m pretending to be an English teacher today, bloods stubbornly high overnight. Not approaching shark week yet, so I suspect I’m going down with some child-borne lurgy. I daren’t correct any more, as I’m driving to Chepstow now. I’ll look on it in horror all the way along the M4 and deal with it when I get there. *shudder*

Have a lovely day, chaps xxx

Hi all

Hope you're all well?
I am on hols at the min in Krakow but struggling with the low carb here :( the meals are very meat/ stew based and on top of it I've picked up a cold.... bloods last night @23 :( have upped back ground insulin my 25% but can't seem to get in top if it & feel rotten.

This is the first proper cold I've has since switching to carb count- the Libre which I've had since Dec has brought to light an early am (2/3am) rise tendency we weren't aware of and my partner keeps telling me I'm chasing numbers now.....

Taken 7yrs to get a hol and now feels pretty poop :( can anyone give any cold advice feedback please? I am not taking any sugar based cough medicine, only cold and flu tablets but the high bloods 're stopping me sleeping and enjoying our break.

I will try and speak to my specialist team also when they are in the office.

Sorry for they essay! Thanks for reading x

Oh no! I’m sorry your holiday isn’t going smoothly. I’d tag team paracetamol and ibuprofen, tbh. Correct when you can and keep plenty of glucose handy in case you suddenly crash. I’m having similar issues myself, only combined with work rather than a holiday! Feel better soon, and welcome to the thread x

Thanks Mel - I think frustrated and disappointed covers it :bored: got some local flu tablets which are making me feel a bit more human.

Just typical isn't it?! Honestly I'm ashamed of the reads, and trying to explain to a non diabetic on how tired and ****** you feel :( like I haven't always envied how well he sleeps anyway ;)
Thanks for making me welcome, just found the emojis too :joyful:

Good day all x

@champ200581 hi and welcome or if you're in Krakow,
cześć i witam
I agree with Mel about ibuprofen. When I feel poo, I just want soup. You could try barszcz (beetroot soup) zurek... can't think of the translation or they do a mean tomato soup. I don't know where you're staying but if you've got a kitchen, you can buy these as packet soups or instant ones to make in a mug from any supermarket. Hope you feel better soon

And morning all,
Today's the day. Just started to get the bits together for the packing. Fingers crossed for a calm sea in the Bay of Biscay.
Madam seems to know something is going on 5.3 but it'll rise before I have to get in the car.
@Mel dCP hope the English goes well and your madam gets back in line

When I'm coming down with the llurgy my blood is alternately too high and then hypo - and that's without corrections. It's the giveaway that some bug is hunting me. Luckily I work in a small office and once a new colleague has settled in, and I've got over the filthy bugs they were carrying (usually from their kids) then I'm OK for ages.

I feel for you Mel - contact with the kids on an ongoing basis (although fun) must bring a real assortment of germs to your body!

@champ200581 Hello and welcome to the strange end of the forum. Krakow? not been there for a while and yep I can believe you will struggle with low carb stuff, still a fab place.

Cant help on the cold feeling yuk bit other than what the others have said.

Morning.

Woke to an 11.5 ~sigh~ not sure why but have been experimenting with lowing my long acting Dulac and I think that might be the cause :shifty: anyway have pushed it back up which will take a few days to work through the system.

Sat here staring at two screens full of various things and still no idea what I'm doing :hilarious:.

Lets see if the tech can get me to come out with more colourful descriptive language :)

@karen8967 How the new job going our kid?

Good morning all. Gotta try and get in the docs in the morning. Woke to a lovely 16 this morning so a huge correction dose with breakfast and now sitting on a 14.6!!! 200% on my temp basal. Still got 3.2 u of "active" insulin AAARGH.....

@Robinredbreast love the new Avatar. Might have to look at mine again, see what "ACTION" ones I have on the computer in work.
@Mel dCP fingers crossed the English will go better than you BGs at the moment ((((HUGS))))
@champ200581 paracetemol and ibuprofen as already suggested (don't forget to keep hypo treats by your side as well). Krakow, will visit one day in the not too distant future to be sure

Just had the worst class I've had in a long while. Year nine, so 13. A couple of the boys made a point of being as disruptive and irritiating as possible, to the point of instigating the entire class to clap continuously for as long as possible. Then hammering on the desks. Then whistling. They just don't give a carp. Had to get senior management up and they still didn't care. Ugh. I'm sure my day will get much worse after lunch as I'm down to cover PE :meh:

Thanks for the lovely messages, all :):)

@helensaramay - no, its all very English here! we're right by the Severn Bridge.
@WuTwo - I have a very full array of vaccinantions due to my First Responder volunteering, but even that doesnt cover everything! Good to know I'm covered for most serious horrors though.

Madame finally into range at 6.3, its taken far more magic juice than usual. Definitely going down with something, as I'm feeling quite "churn-y" in the lower abdominal area and quite nauseous. Nothing to do with the classes, its not nerves or stress or anything like that. Felt like it before I left home this morning. :hungover:

Is it bedtime?

You'd think these idiots would realise that English (and Maths) are the essential subjects if they have any hope of finding a job when they leave school.

Keep going - promise yourself a HUGE treat when you get home!

Oh, I don't think they're bothered about getting jobs or anything...

Considering wine but need to give my poor liver some respite after a very heavy weekend! I do have a large bar of Montezuma 100% chocklit in my stash though...

Good morning friends

Quiet day planned except for puppy training class this evening 6.30

Sunny but a bit cooler than yesterday

Hope Karen is ok on her first work day and that you’ll tell us all about it

To those folk on here feeling poorly please accept a well intentioned hug from me even a man hug if any guys are feeling poopy

Time for a cuppa (I’ll have a cider this evening)

WOW, love the new avatar @Knikki

@Mel dCP you should be made a saint or given a title at least. Hate kids with a vengeance, they are so unkind.
Good your madam is being more cooperative

This school gives you a laptop when you turn up for the day, it's the only one I work in that does. Currently supervising IT, which means they play on YouTube and I can visit my friends. They're being quiet, so not complaining... Still dreading PE! I've not done any for over three decades...

Madame is now at 3.9 and I have 0.25 IOB - gonna be one of those days...

Stuff the liver, I need wine

Hi all, haven't been around for a few days, my daughter in law's been here for a long weekend, yay! Sadly she wasn't on top form as she too has a lurgy - here's hoping I don't succumb and sympathy to all those of you out there suffering with various bugs.

@Mel dCP think it may need to be wine and choclit by the time today's over; thank whoever I only work with adults.

@Cumberland I'd love to see Wispa at puppy class. Is this her first time, and is she the smallest?

@karen8967 hope all's going well with the new job.

Mel I don't think they do a big enough bottle of wine :D

My numbers were a bit high all day yesterday for some reason, correction dosages just didn't do much - today a bit better but not the 5's and 6's I'm aiming for - saying that the lunch time correction will probably see me in the 3's before I leave work now!

They don't. Probably for the best as I'm pretending to be a Physics teacher tomorrow...

Hope you level out x
