What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

That's very high - I assume you are American, most of the English speaking world uses mmol/L - Americans are the exception using mg/dL. To convert to mmol/L you'd divide by 18, 434 = 24.1 mmol/L, 304 = 16.8 mmol/L.

I assume they've checked you for hidden infections (including dental ones) as they can push numbers up higher.

Have you had a GAD antibody test? There are people who are misdiagnosed as Type 2 who really have LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) which is like Type 1 in that they will eventually will need insulin and it is autoimmune (slower moving than Type 1). Initially they look like Type 2 but eventually their 'honeymoon' comes to an end and insulin is required. Many doctors consider LADA to be a form of Type 1. Many LADAs continue to eat low carb. Medications that some Type 2s take are ineffective for LADA and some of those meds shorten the honeymoon period. There are some people with LADA on the forums and information on this website. I raise this possibility because it should be checked when a Type 2 suddenly starts getting high numbers. (Many doctors don't check GAD antibodies when they diagnose Type 2.)

Thank you! Right - my meter is out of sync here; started converting in my posts to make my stats comprehensible :)

I appreciate this great advice -- I should look into this GAD antibody test to check on a type 1 diagnosis vs. type 2, it could be likely definitely. Thank you again for all this info, so helpful!

Aww. .we used to have a Yaris, bought as a favour to a friend's daughter ..ended up loving it
Such a little TARDIS of a car.
Nippy too, we had the sports version as I found out .yippee
(mario kart experience.:D )

Currently have a civic, but would certainly buy another Yaris if one came up at a favourable price.

Score moving in right direction, as well.:)
Hi jjraak. How did you know my Yaris was called Tardis? Much bigger on the inside that it looked on the outside. If I'd known sooner you could have had my car. LOL Bought it new when they were first introduced and nurtured it ever since. Best car ever so was happy every year to pay for it to pass it's MOT. Sadly this year it let us know it had given all it could and had to let it go. :bigtears: Enjoy your holiday.:)

@jjraak and @dogslife I thought of y'all just now, walking home from the grocery store. In the parking lot outside my apartment building I saw a bright red car -- my favorite color -- so of course I took a second look. Surprise surprise -- even though it was not Tardis Blue, it was a Yaris. I don't know what year, but it looked in quite good condition. I wish I could clone it and send them to y'all.

Thanks for the thoughts SaskiaKC. Maybe one day in the future we will be able to do that.:D:playful:

130 mg/dl i.e. 7.2 this morning.
Almost exactly what it was last night

Yesterday i reduced my metformin from 500.× 2 per day to just one due to severe nausea. Nausea is reduced and feeling clear headed.. glad about that.. but worried about fasting numbers creeping up... not sure what to do..

If I were you I'd ask my doctor. As I understand it, Metformin can cause digestive upsets when a person first starts taking it but then as your body adjusts, things get better. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person here who has suffered that effect.

Now I am wondering if the name of the entity "House" of Doctor Who had anything to do with the naming of Hugh Laurie's character Doctor House. Crazy leg-pull or mere coincidence? :D

Yes. I will. But i have been on one per day since a November last year increased to two around Jan. When i was on one i was one i was good. With two i am already struggling . And these are 500 mg Extended release.

On the good side, through the day (at least today) numbers are very stable.. at 120-135 (6.5 to 7.5).

I want to see if one dose of 500mg and all diet / lifestyle etc. can help. Thanks and tomorrow i see doctor ⚕️

Morning all. Thank you for all your kind wishes and support. I'm off the booze and back on my LCHF diet. Even had a diet tonic and bitters to celebrate my fresh enthusiasm.

FBG 11.5 mmo/lt this morning at 0530. Oh well, que sera, sera.

Oh yes, replaced the water tank on my boat. Seems alright. What a faff.

good morning all :)

Weds was 5.2, Thurs was 5.3, it was 4.7 today.

Worst fasting bg's for ages (for me), but also feeling rotten and having, coincidentally (or probably not), some real bouts of anxiety the last few days, don't know if I've got a virus, am fighting something off or if it's down to the anxiety :sorry: Difficult to tell if the anxiety is the cause or the symptom :(

Never mind I'll keep on keeping on, eating LCHF and try to keep walking regularly. Lots of housework type exercise yesterday and a reasonable walk at least. Volunteering today at the charity shop, we'll see how that goes ;)

Hope your day treats you well :)

Morning everyone, a strange tale yesterday, from 12pm my readings began to climb, up and up they went where they stopped no one knows! 15, 18.8, 21.3,25.1 until finally 28.9!! Corrective doses galore, every two hours more and more insulin went in! Even did a Ketone test 0.8 imagine my surprise. Well an uncomfortable night of presenting symptoms and this morning...............5.....A bloomin 5 after yesterday's Blood sugar adventures I was fully expecting high readings!! Any way enough of those shenanigans! Brilliant sunshine today! And today is a new page in the book we all write. So do daring things, smile and say hello to everyone and be happy! Who am I kidding be like me and model yourself on the Grinch!! As my wife calls me!

Take care everyone.

Morning...so full of Lemsip Max ...Lozenges plus cold/flu cure stuff thought my numbers would be sky high this morning...but woke to a 5.7...had a very indulgent day yesterday with comfort food I was shameful...am I feeling better today hard to tell...coughing like a good un' & my voice is just above a whisper...going to pamper myself with a good hot shower and a liberal coating of Vics Vaporub.

I like diet tonic and bitters and have a can of five small sample bottles received as a Christmas gift.
