What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.7 yesterday
5.5 today

Doing 2 presentations for the diabetic teams and HCPs at my 2 surgeries this week. Just working on what I'm going to include now. It's diabetes prevention week so definitely a little on steps that can be taken to avoid getting into that boat! I was pre diabetic in 2006 according to my records but they failed to inform me. I will be having it out with them NOT im going to be like a cute little kitten. Not unleashing the tiger on this occasion!!! Can't over step the mark. Especially if ITV are filming!!! Don't want to get escorted off the premises Haha. Then I will do a little on my journey. How I declined meds to find my own way of reversing the condition. How this woe can help pts reduce meds, even insulin, and in some cases come off completely. Im.using the mop and bucket example which I love. Mops it up but diesnt stop the leak. Only stopping sugar and lowering carbs can do that.

I was going to mention the dreaded word cholesterol and go over my ratios at the start and now (excellent). After all it's the high fat part that frightens them to death !!!

Also that low carb has been proven to work for many other health issues and name as many as I have time for !!!

Im going to tell them what I eat. I have more variety now than before dx. Certainly eat more fruit. Berries vs zilch! Going to give out examples plus a 4 weekly food plan. It's a work in progress. Got granddaughter today and tomorrow so Saturday will be the next time I can work on it.

Ant ideas very welcome. If ITV can work around the 2 slots my surgery have given me then BINGO! This is a great opportunity to tell the world.. ok ok the local community. ..just how many of us want change. Testing kits essential. Low carb option at dx. Not just offered meds and told progressive!!!

My hubby has lost 22 lbs now on low carb. Non diabetic. Just wanted to lose weight and feel healthier. I'm working with my surgeries now in the hope of helping others with diabetes but also those who might want to lose a little weight. Me and hubby are thinking of doing a joint presentation. Non diabetic and diabetic perspective. 'Carb watchers' or 'low carb world'. What do you think Haha. Got a ring to them !!!!

Helloo peoples

Much better this morning, 7.6 mmol/L (yesterday morning was 9.0 mmol/L) but the joints in my hands are killing me. Maybe it's unrelated to my blood sugar levels.

It's weird though, every time I raise the issue of joint pains in my hands my doctor ignores it or makes an oblique reference to it when discussing my diabetic treatment.

At no point does she offer any help or suggestions on dealing with it despite me telling her that it is becoming hard for me to do my job in the mornings (which involves a lot of typing).

She's a good doctor apart from that though so I'm not sure about asking for another one...

Hi @Aethalides .

Not sure of your age, so two points from me.

50's on I seemed to suffer every 6 months with some kind of joint inflammation .
Wrist, shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles, not all at same time but almost in rotation it seemed.

May have been part of my over load on carbs pre DX. (sort of pre diabetic symptoms ? )
May have been just general aging, that may well have continued worsening,.

Either way, after DX and change of diet all symptoms disappeared, except the fingers now do seem stiffer in mornings then I'm used to .

Pick out that what you can, but that's my two bits. :D

Morning All. 5.3 this morning. Hurrah, at last! No idea why though.
@Bubbsie sorry you are feeling so rough. Sounds very like the virus I had early Feb. The only thing to do is rest, rest, rest and drink loads of water and hot drinks. Oh and loads of Harry care....afraid Mr Churchill will probs be indifferent until his bowl needs food!!
Have a great day everyone. Stay well, stay safe.
Thanks PM...Churchill has been fed...Harry is out walking with Laura next door...I am sipping a delicious Lemsip Max...more lozenges positioned nearby...fire ready to be lit...that comfy chair is just beckoning.

Ant ideas very welcome.
It would be marvellous if you could get those feckless DESMOND courses in...probably too early for that D&D...you might have to wait until you get your feet firmly under the table before tackling such a sensitive issue!

Thank you jjraak. I'm 41 but with joint pain like that every morning I may as well feel 91 :(

Morning all. 7.2 this morning. Not good enough but much better than it has been for a while. Took my little 20 year old Yaris car to the scrap yard yesterday :(. Have a good day if you can and to those who are struggling I hope things soon improve.:)

Aww. .we used to have a Yaris, bought as a favour to a friend's daughter ..ended up loving it
Such a little TARDIS of a car.
Nippy too, we had the sports version as I found out .yippee
(mario kart experience.:D )

Currently have a civic, but would certainly buy another Yaris if one came up at a favourable price.

Score moving in right direction, as well.:)
