curse you, dunelm, curse you, man ...:wideyed:

i was all good to go on my day off and be all productive and get a good few bits done on my (long:***:) to do list.
and then YOU post ..:woot:..so now sat last hour BAKING..:wideyed:..(oh the shame ) but on the bright side, now enjoying an LC breakie/bunch..:D

Suffice to say, my curiosity got the better of me, and before i knew it, i was mouthwateringly going through those recipes, for stuff i COULD make.
Got to the BETTER THEN CRISPBREAD, and gave it a go..go one not so nice, go two...

Now @shelley262 , the lovely lady that she is, gave me a recipe for crispbread which i kinda liked,
but it's got a few more ingredients, and it put me off making it, (had to keep looking up recipe, if i'm honest).. not the worlds best cook, sadly :bigtears:

THAT one you gave , is so simple..even i can remember how to make it... AND not mess it up.....:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Thanks for that..i'm sure to be making it again.
Its 7.30am, I'm lying in bed catching up on forum, drooling all over my pillow!

I hope this is going well for you. I have an 80yo friend who has worn a cochlear implant as long I have known her (6 years) and I don't know how long before. Nor do I know if she has been deaf since birth or not. It is an amazing device.

Thank You very much.

Yes it is an amazing invention.

@gennepher good luck today, hope new hard- and soft-ware interacts better with your wetware! What a monumental task for you to learn how to process speech. Dare I ask about music? I'd recommend starting with plainchant which has only one pitch going on at a time. Less confusion, more easy learning.
Gad. 42 posts behind. Stopped at #480.
FBG 6.1 at 0710, a slight improvement.
See y'all later!

Thank you.

Brain does rebel at times with all this hearing work. It wants the old system back of no incoming sound....

It is music I want. I so want music. As a teenager, my friends listened properly to pop music. I am lying on the floor hugging the Dansette record player to feel the vibrations of the music...

I am told by the hospital that the cochlear implant is made for the voice, and not music. It doesn't/can't work well with music. I don't accept that. They think I set my expectations too high. I don't think I do. I never accept 'cannot' or 'no'. There is always a way, even if it doesn't lead exactly where you intended to go.

What is plainchant. I have not heard/read about that before. Please explain/send a link.

Thanks

Morning all 5.3 today* but some info/point of reference for Newbies maybe. Graphic below is average of my last 7 completed days of food analysis (fairly typical for last 6-8 weels)- I have been trying LC for almost 4 years now
upload_2019-5-2_7-37-43.png
Getting good body composition stats - 16.8% body fat and BMI 21.8 BUT bg levels pretty poor (for me over 4 yrs) and feeling quite tired plus had gastric issues for about 2 weeks. Point is, sometimes you can supposedly follow the right LCHF routines and end up with very unexpected/unpleasant outcomes. Hope that helps someone. (Please don't tell me to eat more, that is the limit of what LC food I can tolerate right now)
*Guess from 4 yrs worth of data. Calories burned are quite low as I am avoiding extra exercise - that is just walking dogs and working on the land here.

5.7 again. Happy when it's in the 5s. Haven't seen a 4 for a while (apart from during the day). Like to see 4s. Feels like I have achieved something amazing before I've even put a foot out of bed. Just my own personal 'thing'.

Today's agenda:

Pick up granddaughter and have fun times.
In between pick up BIL take to DN appointment. Diagnosed t2 January. Put on metformin. Couldn't swallow tablets, changed to liquid. Better. Gradual increase over 4 weeks to 2000mg. Started getting cramps. Bloods done to see if all well. Possible lactic acidosis (borderline). Changed meds. Back to tablets. Not working for him (he has special needs and was struggling swallowing). Bloods done. Told to half dose of metformin so now on 1000mg a day. Today getting bloods done to see how things are doing. I'm keeping everything crossed that this dose is working well. His hba1c had come down from 95 to 77 at last check. He wont give up carbs. He is however making better choices and I'm cooking him low carb meals. Fingers crossed all is well.

Thursday today. Into May. This year is absolutely flying!!

Hope you all have good days.

Its voting day today. I'm more curious than ever to see the results although at this point in time I'm absolutely sick of politics!!! I'm sure everyone else on here is too (in the UK).

Anyway in a lighter note I'm getting out of bed to make breaky. Need to decide between yoghurt with strawberries or an omelette. Yearning for both. Biggest decision of the day as always. If I cant decide then it will be coffee and cream. Oh no, I've just given myself 3 to choose from now! Dilemma!!!

Good morning everyone. The sun is out at present but the bone throwers at the beeb are forecasting some rain in the afternoon.
The wonder wheel of jollity and mirth issued forth a 5.1 at 0700 this morning. Just as well as I am off on my motorcycle again this morning for a jaunt down the coast road to Whitby - perhaps a spot of breakfast at the Whistle Stop Cafe. See you there @jjraak and @alf_Josiah
Have a great day if you can, ponder the intricacies of trying to fault find on a sat nav if you can’t.

8.1 when I got up at 6am.
This is lowest I have ever been on waking.
I am very surprised because of stressful day I had yesterday.

I went to hospital for an upgrade on the speech processor yesterday. Despite getting there 2 hours early there was just one Disabled parking space left.

The new speech processor is much smaller. More comfortable to wear.

The old speech processor was big and clumsy, constantly fell off my early, was noisy because it grated against the part that holds magnet to head, and all I wanted to do was sling it across the room when I got home after trying to listen...

This new one is a vast improvement in comfort to wear.

So, at the hospital new one was fitted, reprogrammed, etc etc.

The sound is different. Got to get used to that, etc.

But then the problems started.

The only way I can use all the features on it is to control the speech processor through a special app made for it. I have correct iPhone which is fully compatible and totally updated as regards software.

Technician has to go into the depths of the iPhone to create all the settings to set parameters, certain ratio rates and much more stuff (which I intend to go through this morning and take screenshots of everything I can remember she went through just in case phone crashes and it all needs resetting). Then downloading the app, then pairing the speech processor to phone...

All up and working finally.

But then it stops working being connected to the app. So phone call to Cochlear, and new instructions to technician. All up and working again, and I have treble and bass adjustments which I never had before (what I really want is an equaliser you hearing people have when you listen to music and stuff...yes I know I am being over ambitious, but that technology will be about oneday for speech processors surely). I have other controls within the app too.

I say cheerio but a gut feeling tells me the app will continue to play up, so go to hospital cafe for cuppa and food. Cafe is noisy, jarring noises, so I get phone out. Guess what, app says again that my speech processor is not attached to my head (it is), and neither is it paired to the phone, so I cannot do any adjustments (but it was because technician did it).

Back to audiology. Someone else helps me. More deleting the app, reinstalling, re setting etc etc. App doesn't work. Phone call to Cochlear again. Person comes back with new instructions. They do testing and think something is wrong with the processor. But they don't have a spare. Two hours later I come out of the hospital, and it is working with app again. I am exhausted, just want to get home. I leave.

Stop in cafe for cuppa and food on way home. Cafe has noisy coffee machine which interferes with processor sound and scanning noises. So open up app to readjust speech processor programming for that. Guess what? App says processor is not attached to my head (it is), and not paired either (it was). I text the hospital. While waiting for reply, I delete app and reinstall app, etc etc. Phew, I remembered it all and got it app working with the cochlear speech processor again. Text reply comes from hospital, and they are sending me details so I can contact Cochlear directly...

I don't know yet how good the sound is or how it works in different situations etc etc.because I am totally tied up with the technology side of it all so far.

But it is much mor comfortable to wear. So that is a big plus.

Today is contacting Cochlear, reading up on all this, researching etc and making sure I find a way to keep the speech processor married to that app....tomorrow will be going into new situations and trying out the sounds. But I need more rest and chilling out time today as well.

Sorry if I have bored you with this.

Technology is great...when it deigns to work...

Take care x

Very sorry I can't meet you both, I am walking wif the old folks this morning, average age 75, still trying to catch Gladys the pill, pedelling her blue smarties to the old boys telling them they are the other " blue pills " then dragging them orf into the bushes.
Enjoy your famous Whitby fish and chips.
Maybe another time.

Thank you.

I look forward to a holiday from problems...

Maybe I will lock myself in the potting shed with the cat with minus technology and any other problems over the weekend...to recuperate and regather myself for the next onslaught....

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all attending meetings today.

A 7.5 for me this morning, I must comment on the behaviour of this reading, no dashing orf or trying to hide, most strange.

I have been asked about behaviour in meetings, by a close friend who has a day of meetings. After no thought at all I gave her this advice.
" Take a can of air freshener in with you, then put it down. Don't look at it, don't comment on it, just observe the behaviour of the other participants of the meeting."

Well folks have a good day, smile, flatulate and sing dirty ditties, me's could possibly do that today.

Honestly you couldn't just make that up...makes me want to scream...I have a challenging relationship with technology at the best of times gennepher.

Technology is always challenging...I need a holiday from it...

Or maybe I need to do a course on how to design an app that will be friends and marry with my speech processor...

A day of two halves - new, comfortable speech processor - new, unreliable tech. I guess that the app and the speech processor is using blue tooth? Always a bit of a chew on and may well result in deleting and then re-installing the app - you might also check your phone for software updates.
Hope that the technicians can get it all sorted for you - good luck with it.

You are most welcome - “to do” lists, as you are well aware are lists of things to do in the future - not get on with when having a day off. I suggest that you employ a handy person and get out on your bike more - take a picnic - crispbreads, cheeses and such like.
My next batch will now have to have shaved Brazil - is that not ... noooooooo!

Morning All. 6.3 today after quite an icky tum last evening. I have decided CWC isnt for me after all so back to lots of TWhaM (who will get there first lol). I have a threshold with dairy and fats and need to respect it. So whatever FBG I will stick to 2 small meals and 1 normal size supper. I think @ianpspurs would agree.
@gennepher I salute your patience and resolve. What a tiring day for you. I am a complete technophobe so would be in the wilderness. I hope today brings answers for you and you get a good rest.
Cold here, tomato plants staying on window cill. We have a second viewing tomo which is scary. Need to step up my own viewings, maybe.
Have a great day everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

That crispbread looks amazing...I have stuff in I could try it today...
>^..^<
@gennepher- here is the recipe - very basic so you can adjust it to make it something to your own taste:

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp flax seed meal (if you don’t have any, just blitz some flax seeds)
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • spices and anything else to taste (optional)

Steps
  1. In a bowl, mix flax seed meal with water and spices (I use a fork). Let rest 2-3 minutes.
  2. On a piece of parchment, press and gently spread the mixture with a fork, until the shape desired (usually a 4" X 8" cracker, but can be round or other shapes as well). Microwave for 2.5 minutes or until cracker is solid.
  3. Let cool.
  4. Top with cream cheese, taco dip or anything you might be hankering for.
