What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning All. 6.3 today after quite an icky tum last evening. I have decided CWC isnt for me after all so back to lots of TWhaM (who will get there first lol). I have a threshold with dairy and fats and need to respect it. So whatever FBG I will stick to 2 small meals and 1 normal size supper. I think @ianpspurs would agree.
@gennepher I salute your patience and resolve. What a tiring day for you. I am a complete technophobe so would be in the wilderness. I hope today brings answers for you and you get a good rest.
Cold here, tomato plants staying on window cill. We have a second viewing tomo which is scary. Need to step up my own viewings, maybe.
Have a great day everyone. Stay well, stay safe.
@PenguinMum Tea with hazelnut milk or hardly any milk? The individual fat threshold and general level of comfort with this WOE is highly personal. Definitely avoid CWC if it causes problems - bg control is one thing, wellness and wellbeing are whole other issues. Can't help feeling that whatever some on here say the former is bad for the latter in many cases. Hope today is good for you and the 2nd viewing works out - hopeful sign.

Morning all. 5.6 this morning, a couple of hours later than usual. Another late night chocolate (100% dark) fest. Luckily its nearly all gone now. Had an odd dream that my hair turned green overnight. Wonder if it’s related.
@gennepher what a stressful and full on day you had yesterday. I’m not a technophile so it would have driven me mad. Enjoy your restful day in the potting shed with the cat.

@ianpspurs its hardly any milk! I keep meaning to try almond milk with cocoa for another drink choice but tiny amount cows milk in tea is fine. Yes agree no one size fits all with this or many other illnesses. I have been doing this for 18 months now and still evolving. Thanks re house though even if it works out I rather dread the process. Hope you have a good day.

A day of two halves - new, comfortable speech processor - new, unreliable tech. I guess that the app and the speech processor is using blue tooth? Always a bit of a chew on and may well result in deleting and then re-installing the app - you might also check your phone for software updates.
Hope that the technicians can get it all sorted for you - good luck with it.

Yes blue tooth, never always the easiest of pairings.

I hope not too much deleting and re installing of app today. But will just keep doing it as needed. Maybe the phone will give up and say okay we will let you have this pairing!

There were a pile of other setting within menus in the iPhone that the technician did, in order to set ratios and lots other stuff. I will screenshot them all in a bit. Because I intend to try and set it up on my iPad Pro in case that works better. Or will it not be compatible with the Pro? I can only try. Cochlear are supposed to have been working with Apple to get all the settings needed within the phone device for the Cochlear Freedom products.

Maybe more settings need tweaking? But by Apple and Cochlear for further updates.

I have a friend, a bit older than me in his 80’s, who has just been implanted and has the same new processor. But he cannot get to grips with the app, which tells him also his processor is not on his head (it is) and that the processor has been left in a caravan park where he was on holiday some weeks ago (the speech processor is on his head), and he has given up.

Thank you very much. I will be deleting and reinstalling app as much as needed.

This is all new technology, so I suppose a few problems still to sort.

Thank you.
I am grateful I persevered learning technology some few years ago.
Had I not, this episode would have been totally over over my head..
Thanks for your good wishes.

You have a great day x

@gennepher- here is the recipe - very basic so you can adjust it to make it something to your own taste:

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp flax seed meal (if you don’t have any, just blitz some flax seeds)
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • spices and anything else to taste (optional)

Steps
  1. In a bowl, mix flax seed meal with water and spices (I use a fork). Let rest 2-3 minutes.
  2. On a piece of parchment, press and gently spread the mixture with a fork, until the shape desired (usually a 4" X 8" cracker, but can be round or other shapes as well). Microwave for 2.5 minutes or until cracker is solid.
  3. Let cool.
  4. Top with cream cheese, taco dip or anything you might be hankering for.

Thank you very much for that recipe. I have taken a screenshot of it.

Looks so easy in the microwave. I am not a cook. I don’t even have an oven! But microwave stuff works for me!

I do hanker for really crunching through something, especially when stressed...

Green hair after eating chocolate? Interesting...I would prefer purple :))

Thank you. I will enjoy potting shed with cat.

You are most welcome - “to do” lists, as you are well aware are lists of things to do in the future - not get on with when having a day off. I suggest that you employ a handy person and get out on your bike more - take a picnic - crispbreads, cheeses and such like.
My next batch will now have to have shaved Brazil - is that not ... noooooooo!

Hahaha....

Sorry also have to decline, not quite the Benny hill sex romps @alf_Josiah seems to be TRYING to keep charge of, but it is work, so I am restricted.

Hope you enjoy Whitby and some fish n a tiny few chips....yum..

Travel safe

8.1 when I got up at 6am.
This is lowest I have ever been on waking.
I am very surprised because of stressful day I had yesterday.

I went to hospital for an upgrade on the speech processor yesterday. Despite getting there 2 hours early there was just one Disabled parking space left.

The new speech processor is much smaller. More comfortable to wear.

The old speech processor was big and clumsy, constantly fell off my early, was noisy because it grated against the part that holds magnet to head, and all I wanted to do was sling it across the room when I got home after trying to listen...

This new one is a vast improvement in comfort to wear.

So, at the hospital new one was fitted, reprogrammed, etc etc.

The sound is different. Got to get used to that, etc.

But then the problems started.

The only way I can use all the features on it is to control the speech processor through a special app made for it. I have correct iPhone which is fully compatible and totally updated as regards software.

Technician has to go into the depths of the iPhone to create all the settings to set parameters, certain ratio rates and much more stuff (which I intend to go through this morning and take screenshots of everything I can remember she went through just in case phone crashes and it all needs resetting). Then downloading the app, then pairing the speech processor to phone...

All up and working finally.

But then it stops working being connected to the app. So phone call to Cochlear, and new instructions to technician. All up and working again, and I have treble and bass adjustments which I never had before (what I really want is an equaliser you hearing people have when you listen to music and stuff...yes I know I am being over ambitious, but that technology will be about oneday for speech processors surely). I have other controls within the app too.

I say cheerio but a gut feeling tells me the app will continue to play up, so go to hospital cafe for cuppa and food. Cafe is noisy, jarring noises, so I get phone out. Guess what, app says again that my speech processor is not attached to my head (it is), and neither is it paired to the phone, so I cannot do any adjustments (but it was because technician did it).

Back to audiology. Someone else helps me. More deleting the app, reinstalling, re setting etc etc. App doesn't work. Phone call to Cochlear again. Person comes back with new instructions. They do testing and think something is wrong with the processor. But they don't have a spare. Two hours later I come out of the hospital, and it is working with app again. I am exhausted, just want to get home. I leave.

Stop in cafe for cuppa and food on way home. Cafe has noisy coffee machine which interferes with processor sound and scanning noises. So open up app to readjust speech processor programming for that. Guess what? App says processor is not attached to my head (it is), and not paired either (it was). I text the hospital. While waiting for reply, I delete app and reinstall app, etc etc. Phew, I remembered it all and got it app working with the cochlear speech processor again. Text reply comes from hospital, and they are sending me details so I can contact Cochlear directly...

I don't know yet how good the sound is or how it works in different situations etc etc.because I am totally tied up with the technology side of it all so far.

But it is much mor comfortable to wear. So that is a big plus.

Today is contacting Cochlear, reading up on all this, researching etc and making sure I find a way to keep the speech processor married to that app....tomorrow will be going into new situations and trying out the sounds. But I need more rest and chilling out time today as well.

Sorry if I have bored you with this.

Technology is great...when it deigns to work...

Take care x

I have 173 back posts to read and catch up on...I will try today to read as much as I can.........
I turned my back for a minute! 47 more to read. Proving to be a very popular thread::-)

I feel your frustration. Hope things settle.

@dogslife I had completely forgotten about Scot's Emulsion. My mother used to give me some of I had a cold or she thought I was run down. I actually liked it really cold from the fridge. I dislike fish now though unless it comes as fingers or in batter from the chippy - neither of which are contained in my current way of eating.
4.9 for me this morning.
Ug! Bildad. I really can't imagine how anyone would actually like it. Grandma didn't have a fridge so maybe the cold temperature helped.:D Seemed to keep me well though.:)

Good morning. A dreadful night with very little slumber.. a grey and grizzly day greets but I’ve promised myself that the lawns need mowing, a couple of bay trees and a couple of rosemary bushes are being tackled this morning too . So I shall endeavour to start with my tasks. Yesterday, following my interim HBa1c 49 and cholesterol 3.6 results I wasn’t afraid of a carb with a prawn sandwich on white bread and my real real treat being pasta tonight.
I arose to a 4.6 this morning.. have a lovely day peeps ...

Morning all. Fbs was 7.9. Only ate 1 slice bacon, cooked cheese and tomato for tea at 6pm. Retested at 9.50 pm and was 9.0! No supper- just a small drink of milk before bed. Not even stressed when I woke so can't understand it. Trying so hard to keep my levels down to avoid medication increase at my next review but struggling to get below 7:banghead: Have a good Thursday one and all.:)

(Shudder) now y'all have got me remembering kaopectate. (Shudder.) Has the opposite use of milk of magnesia, which is just as shudder-worthy.

I'll take prune juice any day.
I was given liquid paraffin......

5.8 this morning. Dog walk in the sunshine. I'm hopeful that the tree pollen isn't quite so high today after the overnight rain.
I got the dog out for a walk early in the sunshine...it's due to pour down here later...fingers crossed the rain has kept the pollen down for you.

Good morning and good afternoon, everyone. 6.5 on the meter this morning.

@gennepher last night I stayed up late trying to set up my new phone. I have 3 Androids now -- my old phone, my Nook tablet, and now this new phone. They are all just different enough that each new one drives me absolutely nuts trying to figure it out. I feel for you. Hang in there! :)
