Well I guess no one really knew and you and I just got lucky eating by the meter. Also luckily, this site and a few others like it have helped an awful lot of T2Ds to become much more aware of their eating habits and how it is a critical life style change, NOT an optional one. It is hard to believe that most of the medical profession still sits on the fence, waiting for some kind of guidance from government...

FBG at 0940 was 4.3, food yesterday was;

Breakfast: scrambled eggs "a la tamagoyaki" with tabasco sauce, black tea, 500 mg metformin
Lunch: 2 slices ham, a raw carrot, black tea
Dinner: 6 large Atlantic scallops stir fried in butter and Harvey's Bristol Cream, 1/2 cup uncooked snap peas w/Helluva Good dip, glass of red wine, handful of Costco salted mixed nuts, 500 mg metformin
Snack: 2 glasses rum w/diet Pepsi

Temp 10C here and clear skies with a cool westerly wind, tending to electrical installation duties and a hamburger/hot dog feast (no marshmallows for me) with grandchildren today (it is Victoria Day!)...

Edited to add Costco mixed nuts

last night 6.3 after a dinner of Salmon with lemon butter sauce snd a salad.

This morning it is 6.5...

I tried looking up ways to beat the dawn phenomenon but can’t find any concrete recommendations. Most suggestions seem to be about insulin timing which i am not on. I am trying to eat dinner early (7:00 pm latest), low / no carbs in dinner, short walk after dinner. Anything else which keeps the dawn phenomenon away or muted at least?

Happy Monday and a great week ahead everyone

DP is the last reading to improve. Just keep at it, improved weight and a little exercise will bring it down eventually, but probably after all other times of day.
Your figures aren't too bad though, well on the way.

1915-Hamburger patties 2,with cheese,in large salad
2100- start a candy feast,over evening had about 8-9 chocolates,CELEBRATION,total pig out! FUN,I earned it!

0608-Fasting BG-7.05. HUH?? :oops: Look at chocolate boxes.....THESE ARENT SUGAR FREE!!!! :wideyed: :meh: :shifty: Tooooo dang funny,assumed when wife showed me the 'sugar free' Russell Stovers on sale,they were actually sugar free.They werent!! :wacky: Hope Mrs enjoys her 4 boxes of chocolates :D

FBG at 0645 was 5.2, food yesterday was;

Breakfast: 3/4 cup honey nut cheerios w/2% milk, black tea, 500 mg metformin
Lunch: 2 chunks of black forest ham, dozen olives, green salad w/Kraft balsamic vinegar and olive oil, black tea
Dinner: Boston Pizza "Royal" (individual), pint of Rickard's Red, 500 mg metformin
Snack: 2 glasses white rum w/diet Pepsi

Temp here at 1110 is 16C (going up to 20C), skies clear. Fasting blood glucose a bit high likely because of the dinner pizza and beer yesterday, at least I didn't eat the edge of the crust. More LED pot light electrical work plus replacing the camshaft position sensor in my car, should be a fact finding kind of day...

As a Serbian (immigrant) friend of mine likes to say "What doesn't hurt you makes you stronger". So if the meter does not go up, then it must be OK, unfortunately I still drink the odd beer and eat the odd piece of pizza but at least stay away from the jelly beans, chips (crisps), eggnog and sambuca.

One of these days I'll treat myself to a gin!
