What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

It is beginning of Ramadhan holidays and i need all the rest i can. The day started with 5.8 which i was happy about. I had some check ups today..

Eyes for my reading glasses- they say there is no change.. so i just continue my current glasses.

Had my blood tests too - HbA1c is at 6.6% which I think corresponds to 48 mmol / mol in the UK system. Not ideal yet, but better than where it was sometime back. Not sure how much lower I can bring it to .

My Vitamin B12 was higher than the normal range.. doctor usually wants to ensure there is no deficiency but i am higher . i do take B12 supplements, probably a bit too many... Is high level of vitamin B12 problem? I haven’t had a detailed chat with doctor yet - probably next week. Maybe I should just reduce the dosage or maybe take it every other day. Any thoughts?

Great results.
Good about the glasses.
HbA1c sounds pretty good to me!

So all good!

Hi John hope the arm protectorshelp and current issues start to improve. How didyour neck xray go?
I think you may be thinking of my annual CT scan and Xray to check on my grafted Stent for the AAA unfortunately I was unable to make it on the day so it is being rescheduled and I have no idea when.

Hi

Yes he did look at me when we first met and when he called my name, he looked at me as he was explaining what to do, he looked at me as he told me to sit in the chair. Then he did the photos of the eyes, and checked them on his computer.

Then he did not look at me. He just looked at the floor after that, or looked to the side as he spoke. He did not look at me in the face again.
At that point, as a deaf person, who depends on lips, that communicates to me (rightly or wrongly), that the person is hiding something, hiding bad news etc. In this instance, of the eye photographs, my brain immediately leaps to he’s hiding something bad he saw.

If I am in a shop buying something, eg computer equipment, and the assistant has maintained eye contact all way through, then when he tries to sell me something extra (which I hadn’t asked for) telling me the extraordinary benefits of whatever by buying this to go with my computer, and his eyes look slightly to the right towards the top of his ear, I then know he is lying, or thinking of an inventive answer/persuasion to get me to buy the extra goods.

There are other tells from a person’s face. Because I am lipreading I am looking at the face, and not other body parts. So, I rely a lot on the face.

One person, an experienced salesperson tried every trick in his book to get me to buy some things to go with my new laptop. Finally he said, I give up, what is your secret, I can get a customer to buy all those things. I smiled and said that is for me to know and you to wonder.

Something caused this rude guy to change his face body language. I don’t know what it was. But given the situation, I start to think the worst.

>^..^<

That sounds seriously fishy. I would be really upset. And, being me, I would probably be wanting to say, "Hey, buddy, what's wrong, why aren't you looking at me?" but, being me, I would probably not be brave enough to say that out loud to him. I hate confrontation.

On the other hand I also hate rudeness and I think it's weird that many young people these days who work in customer service won't meet the eyes of their customers when face to face with us. It's usually just rude rather than suspicious in these cases, but if someone in a medical setting changed and did this I would be very upset.
It is at the least very unprofessional. I hope that in your case that is all it was, a lapse of manners.

Please keep us posted. Hugs.

You are right about all that short time - even as I type, my time is being used up and with nowhere to bank it, it just seems to slip away and vanish.

If only....
FREEZING TIME

I wish I could freeze time in my freezer

and thaw it out when I need a bit more.

If I could, then one thing is for sure

It would very soon need a new door.

With all of that opening and closing

I know that I’d soon wear it out.

It would get lots of use that’s for certain

Of this, there cannot be a doubt.

For some times I’ve plenty to spare

and at others, I find I’ve run out

As when I look down at my watch

I find that there is just none about

It’s funny how we still keep on looking

Expecting some more to appear

So you see it would be rather handy

To have some in the freezer to spare!

I am sorry in my haste of posting I meant @johnpol was having xray today but you are both a bit in tbe wars. Please forgive me!

Thank you @gennepher . No line stepped over at all. :) That is a really good idea and I had not thought of it. I will "look into" that tomorrow (and if you would like to post or PM any links... :) ) depending on whether you have time of course!

I ran into a neighbor just going into this opticians' as I was coming out. I advised consulting them "at your own risk."
Okay. Hope this helps.

Here is a general search
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=w...sses&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari
Under who do I complain to about my glasses.

And this appears to be the main body to complain to:
https://www.opticalcomplaints.co.uk/resources/faqs

Let me know how you get on.
Have a read and see how you feel doing that.
It looks like they will even assist and guide you in making a complaint to your optician’s.
Take care x

5.8 this morning and bin day is upon us again, funny how we measure the passage of time :)
My bin day is tomorrow, so today is preparing for bin day...the recycle into appropriate bags, fill wheelie as compactly as possible, because I have more bin bags than bin space...oh for the days when they used to do it weekly...not fortnightly...you can take your excess bin bags to the tip but the overseer opens and goes through every bin bag you take....don’t like that...I feel a dystopian novel coming on...
