What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone, I’m sat looking out of the window into the garden and wondering if the figs will be edible this year. They are fattening up already so just as I am in a body state where the consumption of a nice juicy fig would blow my blood sugars they seem to be tantalizingly ripening. Oh! Happy days.

Talking of happy days, the wonder wheel of calm before the storm issued forth a smart 5.4 at 0600 and then, like a dread punishment taken from the basalt stele of Hammurabi, drove up to 6.3 by 0700 with the cry of “release the liver”

The surgery patients group meeting yesterday was survived by not only remaining conscious throughout but by being awarded with another go on the surgery cleanliness inspection roster - white gloves and clip boards at the ready. We don’t meet now until the first Wednesday in August and then its all hands to the pumps to help with crowd control on flu jab sessions; a bit like that scene in The Life Of Brian “freedom or crucifixion?”

Have a great day if you can.

I am off for my HbA1c test this morning my last one in February had risen to 73. I had not been good lots of stress eating due to real life issues. I was given a ticking off by practice nurse. My medication was changed from Gliclazide to Dapaglaflozin and I was told to get my blood tested in 3 months (this is the first apt I could get!)
Through the help and advice on here I have reduced by fasting blood from 11.9 to 4.3 this morning and my general tests from an average of 13+ to 5.6. So I am hoping that it will be down to normal levels when I see the nurse next week. What is the betting that she assumed it is the meds!!
Better get going as a(the risk of re ignighting the bin discussion) today is black bin day here and I haven't put it out yet.
Take care

Morning...a beautiful sunny start to our day here...all paperwork done & delivered to our office in London yesterday...I took 'Plumpy' with me...unfortunately he disgraced himself by being far 'too friendly' with several of my colleagues when their backs were turned...woke to a 6.5

Morning all. Maybe some bittersweet feelings for some members on this poignant day 75 years on. Purely by an accident of history I can type away in comfort rather than have my life threatened or lost. Puts fbs in perspective for me.
Now, @DJC3 nice numbers and holiday sounds good - I really hope you don't live near Looe back home. @HarrisonK excellent start to the day. @Bildad best wishes for the A1c today. You should have no problems based on the excellent numbers and sterling efforts we have all seen. My fbg was a so so 5.2 today. Enough with the bins already.

Was looking through my BS charts yesterday and noticed a very interesting pattern.

If my fbs is 4.8 the 2 hr test after eating is usually at around 6.6.
If 5.5 it is around 6.6 after 2 hrs
If fbs is 6.2 it is also around 6.6 at 2 hours after eating

This is also replicated during the day with pre meal and post meal readings.

I just thought that it was so interesting to see how my body regulates the blood sugar and that it is not quite so random as I first thought.

Are those results constant across different levels of carbs in the meal? Only ask out of interest - nothing to do with me so feel free to ignore.

Breakfast is almost always always 9g carbs but my other meal of the day varies between 6 and 8 grams.

Have also noticed that if the 2nd meal is even lower than 6g of carbs my body will grab glucose from somewhere else - My guess is from the protein content.

Morning All. Poignant day for so many today.
Fbg 6.0 so lowest of the 6s this week but BP coming down from very high start of week. Does anyone think one affects the other?
@Bildad good luck with the test. @gennepher bolt that door and you and Popeye get down that shed though you might need a rug!
@DJC3 great number glad you’re enjoying your trip. Lobstergate made me smile but good result on the wine. Poor Mr C that would freak me out.
Hope @trick60 that Mrs T is getting/feeling better.
@Bubbsie I love the idea of Harry being naughty..was he sniffing bums?
Btw every day on this forum is a bin day!
Have a good Thurs everyone. Stay well, stay safe and remember that amazing generation who took it all in their stride.

No PM it was worse than that...I can't say anymore it may be struck out by the mods (and I wouldn't blame them)...good to see your BG is coming down...I feel that higher blood pressure may affect them...my blood pressure is slightly raised & my BG's are higher than usual...so there may be a link.

Excellent discipline/grouping. Thanks for the info.

Afternoon all and a beautiful one too which reminds me of something I used to teach my students
I came back from Chester yesterday after celebrating my brother's 80th!! A lovely old city and a lovely old brother.
Madam continues to have hissy fits 7.4 after a week of a hypo every day. Shake head

Good morning it was to my fellow bloodthirsty chums

A much improved 6.2 this morning.

A huge positive though.. no cold for a least 2 weeks.

I ventured forth onto the scales this very morning Bd given no kitchen and a lot of carverys and breakfasts out I’ve put on 0.2 lb

I agree!
The pockets on women’s sweatpants don’t even hold a tissue, whereas the pockets on men’s sweatpants can hold the contents of a small handbag....and you have at least 4 pockets....

>^..^<

Ladies Have to agree, from what my missus tells..

AND they save time too...;)

Only come in 6 base colours (as do most mens clothes) so shopping is really just a case of
(estimated time max 20 mins allowing for parking car & queueing to pay)
* Pop in.
* Select correct size.
* Pay for them
* leave shop
* enjoy a more productive day.

Wifes version,
(estimated time based on previous experiences 5 hours min)
* look through a zillions colours of each item,
* minutely inspect EACH for the tiniest of of variations in style,
( NB Most Invisible (it seems ) to the male eye without female guidance.)
* Inspect EVERY item in store, just in case
...
* Go outside calm, down husband, tell him you've found what you want, just want HIS opinion,
(oh the lies you all tell :rolleyes: :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:)
* spend another 30 minutes looking at ALL shop stock again, just in case
* then select first item seen...
* Queue and pay
* leave store..
* return home,
* check items, prepare list of what to return..:wideyed:.:***:

( apparently THEM is the rulez of shopping, so can not be skipped,
a fact, the average male i bet is totally unaware of.)

But do agree in the clothing in general, my stuff does seem cheaper & better material
never shrinks in tumble dryer either :D..

Managed to sneak a few minutes on my phone while Mr C is glued to the cricket in a cosy Tobermory pub.
Very glad to see @Cumberland has a nice comfortable fbg today.
Mine was 5.7 today and yesterday 5.1 so holiday grub seems fine, and lack of metformin doesn’t seem to be having a deleterious effect now.
I’m thrilled to be entering a bin discussion my husband drives a bin lorry so I never think about it - I leave it to him. SIL and his dad also work on the bins - they are all obsessed by it, it’s very funny, within 5 mins of them being in the same room their conversation will have turned to bins and the merits or otherwise of the local rounds. My daughter made a fabulous calendar for Mr C’s Christmas present. She took photos of many different bins throughout the year and made a montage. The title page was ‘Bins of Cornwall’ it was far and away his favourite present!

What an amazing gift lol

Lol

But really there is more to it. Men enter store knowing waist and inseam measurement, find pants that match those numbers, pay, walk out. Women enter store knowing pants size of one brand. Store may have discontinued brand. Different brand may have different dimensions for same size so must be tried on. Blue of different brand may not match blue of previous brand or even blue of same brand different season. Even basic black can vary across brands and seasons. Life is hard! :D
