Meh. With the amount of tattoos I have, I can't really shy away from needles!

I'm inked a little my self. Upper thigh (box that needed ticking before I hit 40.) However...
I think it's psychological. I was given some by mistake and they don't feel any different. TBH I preferred watching the needle go in, so I knew I'd put the insulin in the right place.

Yep, back in the early days (1976.) I was encouraged to stick in the "barge poles." (Inch & a quarter? glass syringes.)As early as possible.
Dentists & HCPs, I mentally hold up score cards regarding the technique.. In my experince, I believe dentists have the edge..

I've seen a fair few DSNs shake like its thieir first time. (Lol, I wonder if they freak when I watch.) Some of the nurses when I went for the eye jabs back in the day couldn't even draw blood with a finger prick test. "Give yer meter here & Let me use my lancet....":banghead:
But then, I got a high pain threshold.

In other news regarding this heat & backing off the basal. My third hypo today at five to ten at a rehersal (with the other band.) when my Lantus should have been tailing off... (& no Novo on board.) What the hey! Sitting nicely now at 5.3.. Though weighing up a 10g snack to take me through the night?

Vampires run away - and they have a surprising number of really nasty colds.

"Vampire" is a metaphor for life drainer... Not just a cold, other issues... Life enrichment is mutual. Yer average Nosferatu is basically a soul destroyer. Let em feed on the next victim. Never become one. No garlic needed just a level head.

... Or maybe the level headed may overlook the garlic consumed in a potential?

And to whom the principle of ahimsa is a closed book that they refuse to open because it would make life more difficult for them.

OK my secret is out - I just lurve garlic......

But on the other hand, a vampire has never tried to drain my life (although I have my suspicions about one of the guys at work) so you never know ...

Morning all, surprisingly high after dinner last night, went for a correction and found the brand new vial was leaking?!!! I'd thought the air shot before dinner wasn't maybe as much as usual and I've had a couple of dodgy needles lately but I'd tried squirting a dose which looked right so I trusted what I injected. Obviously wrong! Corrected, went to bed and woke on a neat 5.5. Over the past three days my Libre has been almost exactly the same as finger pricks; shame it's only got two days to go....
Have a good day all, meant to be another hot one here in Somerset

Today I did my blood first thing. I got a "test Blood" warning from my meter because I'd been hiding from it. So, I will try and climb back onto the straight and narrow.

I finally had the full swath of antibody tests now that I'm on insulin through OCDEM. I'm GAD positive with a high number of antibodies. After two years of avoiding insulin and a T1DM diagnosis, based on extremely low c-peptide and BMI, I finally have a conclusive diagnosis. And I'm not celebrating (yet). I know a lot of people are relieved when they know for sure. I was still hoping to reverse this malarky and miraculously come off insulin. Why didn't they give me antibody tests before? My surgery did order a blood test after a letter from a private health insurance specialist: they tested for IA2 and TG-AB (the nurse had difficulty finding the GAD test - it's not a routine surgery test, and chose this one by mistake.) No one noticed the mistake. I only did when told I was GAD negative and now I was GAD positive. I thought that didn't make a lot of sense and asked for the printout, which was never sent to my consultant. I'm pleased I managed to stay off insulin for so long. I think the last two years of fighting blood sugars, without insulin, have been some of my finest hours.

@ert - I gave you the winner medal there because through those last two years you have fought and struggled really hard, and although ther diagnosis is not what you could have wanted - you didn't "lose". You deferred having to take insulin for a long, long time and learned so much. Well done!

Morning chaps. Just arrived at school, no 3G so having to switch my watch to getting Spike data rather than Loop data, so while I'm not exactly running blind, I just don't have so much data on my wrist. I try not to get my phone out in class, especially when I've been confiscating theirs...

Science, Welsh Baccalaureate and Maths to day :D

Morning all, @ert sort of welcome officially to the club!

I was 3.9 before bed (so had 2 oreos and a small packet of yogurt covered raisins) too much or the spaghetti took longer to 'come in' - 10.8 this morning :(

Can't remember who above said about putting nurses off by watching intently as they try and draw blood........yeap, so it isn't just me then!

Bigotry, reliance on unsupported 'facts', unkindness, unfairness.
Phew, a decent BG night last night.
Cat’s not been well, I think his neighbourhood back door scavanging led to eating something that didn’t agree with him. He was very sad and lethargic and you really didn’t want to be in the vicinity if he farted
He’s cheerful again this morning so bracing for fridge siege.

Cheers Helen, we are all different (thank god!) but I suspect you're right that it was too much, I do generally drop slightly during the night but it does depend on what was for supper/tea/dinner, if at the time I had remembered I had POB (pasta on board!) I probably would have just had the one Oreo (as if ).

That's why I stick with dextrose tabs, I have zero willpower for nice things! But like Helen, I know how much one raises me by and work out an actual dose. Sometimes use just half a tab.

Home! At last!

I am so tired. I'm not great in warm weather - the hotter it is, the dopier I get, which makes life tough when your job needs you to focus on figures all day. Which normally I enjoy - I like the patterns - but today, it was a real effort.

But - I'm told it's pizza and salad for our meal, and he has made a batch of vegan coleslaw. Much nicer than shop bought!
