Brilliant achievement!

I think you need to change your signature! That light is pretty darned bright now
Amazing HbA1c fantatsic effort by you to make this happen. Massive congratulationsSurgery got in touch and confirmed that my statin script has gone up to 40mg as my bloods came back abnormal but didn't even talk about my HBA1C which was kind of funny so I chased it and they said normal, I said give me a number and that number was...
29!
I wondered if I could do it and I managed it in 3 months and I still cannot believe that, completely under the diagnostic criteria for diabetes and then some. Now if I could get my lipids to behave I wouldn't have anything to worry about but I suppose that was why they didn't even mention the HBA1C, I probably embarassed the nurse.
Again though thank you, everyone that has been cheering me on and giving me advice. I am aiming to keep this up for life and I want everyone here as well to have their health well into the future.
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but isn’t 29 too low? I was told the ideal was around 46/47. So does it mean lower than 27 is even better?WOW! From 114 to 29 in nine months! Well done you!!![]()

@Caeseji is type 2, so as far as we know the lower the better. I believe Type 1s generally keep their levels a bit higher due to the risk of hyposSorry to be a wet blanket, but isn’t 29 too low? I was told the ideal was around 46/47. So does it mean lower than 27 is even better?

My LDL, HDL and all the other DL's are always normal because they are never tested even during the time I spent in hospital having a double bypass. I do not waste my time with ridiculous tests that have no meaningful results. So well done for getting the Hb down to normal!
VERY well done on your HbA1c!!! LDL cholesterol is much misunderstood by GPs etc.Surgery got in touch and confirmed that my statin script has gone up to 40mg as my bloods came back abnormal

Well done on the Hba1c.
Personally I suspect that the whole idea of how cholesterol impacts on health requires a more rigorous investigation than it has yet been given.
Comparing the age at death to LDL levels has indicated (so reports the BMJ Open site) that for older people, having a higher LDL level doesn't mean a shorter life.
Amazing news. Well done you.
Congratulations on the outstanding HbA1c level
Personally I think Cholesterol needs a lot more research/investigation/studies I think it’s going to be yet another thing that future generations look back on and wonder why we thought the way we do
They test mine periodically and it’s lower when I’m low carbing and lower still when I’m exercising (currently off my feet due to a knee injury so precious little exercise & it’s not helping my BG or my state of mind any) . They have, in the past, encouraged me to take statins (target driven) but it’s a big fat NO from me & it’s currently 5 & mr Dr said last time I was there that she was happy with that. I think it’s higher than most people in here aim for, but as I say, I don’t think enough investigation has taken place to accurately determine a) if it’s an issue & b) for who/what level etc.
But that’s just my thoughts on it.
Id love your HbA1c result though!
I honestly gasped when I found it, I never expected to be in that club yet here I am! Thanks for all the help!I am soooooo pleased for you. Sub 30 club is exclusive, well done.

I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of G&T and my smug satisfaction at the nurse being so flabbergasted about how I turned it all around. Thanks for much jjraak, it's time to keep this going.Agreed. He's now in the club house having an ice n a slice in his G&T....![]()

Still stunned to be honest, goes to show that it doesn't always have to be a spiral down and we all deal with the condition in our own way. Thank you!WOW! From 114 to 29 in nine months! Well done you!!![]()
Thanks a bunch Fenn! Means a lot and yeah... When I found out what they were made from and what they did? I just threw them out with the rest of the trash.Well done! nice work
Statins = bad imho
Amazing achievement.
If you’re still losing weight wouldn’t that account for the raised ldl? I’d ignore it til stable (and fasted) personally. Are you planning to take the raised statin amount or stick where you are?
I think you need to change your signature! That light is pretty darned bright now
Eeeee thank you so much but you're all the stars here for getting me to this point!Wonderful achievement in 3 months. Gold stars for you.![]()
I bow, I bow and I hope it can inspire others, thank you!Wow! Just... Wow!
Thank you so much and trigs are at 1 mmol but HDL is at 1mmol too which isn't a bad ratio at all but it may be because of the meal I had before I went in for the test which was only an hour before the test. I agree though, raised insulin and BG will do a lot more than something that helps to repair the body. That is inspirational work and having raised blood sugars is way worse for your arteries than excess ldl assuming that your triglycerides/hdl are looking good too?
Thanks every so much!INCREDIBLE!!![]()
Thanks Rachox and indeed, I am not going to take them! When QRisk3 puts me at a 0.5% chance of a heart issue I think I'll take my chances.Very well done @Caeseji on the excellent HbA1c! Consider carefully if you’re going to increase the statin, remember they can increase blood glucose levels.
1mmol Trigs, 1mmol HDL and 4.4mmol LDL which is why they are screaming and running around but I lost like 7 stone and now I am still losing it, heading into the 14 stone side of things so that would explain a lot. Plus I am glad that I am now in an abnormal 1mmol of trigs than what they counted as a normal 4.9mmol of trigs from last year! I suppose I can understand why they had concerns with you but honestly high BG will do a lot of damage too so it's a double edged sword but I do hope that you have good health from now on and thank you for the advice.Well done on the Hba1c.
What is the detailed breakdown s of the Lipids? - I ask because :
A). LDL rises on LCHF while you are in 'weight loss mode'.
B). Doctors often look at the 'wrong' levels or ratios.
C). Statins raise BG - so I actually used my T2 diagnosis to reduce my Statin prescription. Though my lipids were good by any level or ratio and the only real reason for keeping me on any statins at those (reduced) levels was because I had a triple Coronary Artery Bypass 2 and a half years ago.
Thank you Brunneria, that means a lot!Brilliant achievement!![]()
You do flatter me, thank you so much I feel over the moon!Amazing HbA1c fantatsic effort by you to make this happen. Massive congratulations
Thanks Goonergal, it's thanks to your inspiration that I got this far along with many others!@Caeseji that is stunning. Congratulations and very well deserved too.
Hehehe, I have been getting so many compliments there and I am so happy for it! Thanks so much!Well done on the hba1c front @Caeseji, you have bashed that into shape as well as your profile pix.
Oh those were wonderful, thank you for pointing me to those and I really don't worry about it after QRisk said I would be pretty decent without the statins. Plus I would rather give myself time to heal first too.VERY well done on your HbA1c!!! LDL cholesterol is much misunderstood by GPs etc.
