Hi again. I haven’t been on here for awhile.
Just wanted to share my news with you guys.
2 months ago they wanted to put me on insulin as my Hb1ac had gone up to 114.
I stalled them and said let me try changing my habits again, so they agreed for 2 months.
After 1 month of low carb and high fat eating it lowered to 89.
Today I got the results of the 2nd month. Hb1ac. It’s now 62.
(Within the last month I’ve slipped a bit as celebrations for my 50th ensued.)

So I’m very happy and so amazing to see results, still have some to do.
Still puzzled that I’ve not lost weight.
I see diabetic nurse on Monday. Just hope she gives up the idea of putting me on insulin yet.

Thankyou all for your support. Xx

Excellent news.. well done you..
Weight loss will come over time but may require cutting carbs a bit more?
Any idea what you are eating in carb terms?

Hi Smiler69,
Congratulations (and for the birthday too)!

The important figures are the Hba1c and your day to day BG figures. The weight can come off slowly over a longer period of time since in itself it does much less harm than high Insulin and BG.

In order to get weight loss, I too wonder if you need to cut down on Carbs substituting Saturated Fat for it, or even just cut some Carbs and so cut total calories a little. However it is at this stage that exercise can play a role.

Fabulous result!

And yes, some of us don't lose weight on low carb. Sad but true.
However the achievement you have made is FANTASTIC and puts that minor inconvenience into the shade.
Please continue to prioritise blood glucose control over weight loss. It is far more important, in the long run. :D

Six months of low carb and I was at the top end of normal, and have stayed there ever since, no problem.
Weightloss has nothing to do with it, as you have discovered - though I would expect some small drifting down over time, and perhaps shape change - I now have a waist, not an equator.

Hi Bulkbiker

I’ve cut out bread, potatoes, rice, pastas, cereal.

I do eat salad, veggies (varied) and some fruit.

I don’t tend to eat breakfast, lunch is usually a small salad with a boiled egg, dinner is either salad with fish, or chicken or egg or gammon. Or with a plate of veggies.
I’ve stopped puddings/chocolate
Drink either water or tea with s.s. Milk.

At the moment I am unable to exercise much due to an ongoing knee problem. So I know this isn’t helping.

Sadly in early stages of menopause so I guess this too will have an impact.

I am chuffed with my results, just very surprised by lack of weight loss. But I have been sleeping better since reducing sugars, so that’s a billy bonus.

Have a lovely evening.

Apart from walking the dog (which I still did when morbidly obese) I don't do any extra exercise.

Just watch the fruit some of it is quite carby and fructose contributes to NAFLD which isn't great..

Sorry bulkbuilder, I don’t know what NAFLD is?
