Just remembered, Happy St Crispins Day

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

Thank you for posting that. I enjoyed reading it. You've reminded me of this day 2 years ago when it was one of the readings I chose for our (now extinct) poetry group. We took turns reading selections aloud, and when we got to the end of this one I think we all had good goosebumps.
Cheers.

@PenguinMum the fish fingers sound yummy. Yay for you for scratching that itch and enjoying them! Double yay for driving all the way to Kent to dog sit for your friend. I hope you will have a wonderful weekend together.

@DJC3 the new lights sound very good and the bathroom heater repair sounds even better. My bathroom has no heat at all, for some reason, and being right next to my front door it gets all the air that comes in around the badly hung front door -- warm in summer, cold in winter. Maybe this winter I will finally get around to buying a portable heater to set up outside the bathroom door.

Oh I hope you can get something sorted. A freezing cold bathroom is miserable, and the towels stay damp. At our last house we had underfloor heating in the bathroom - pure bliss! I really miss it.

7.6 this morning and I don't care, I feel better than I have felt in days. I slept about 7-8 hours and woke up with some energy for a change. I don't know if it's the extra 1-2 hours' sleep, or the acetaminophen, or the fact that I ate more yesterday than I have eaten on other days this week, or what -- I'm just gonna take it as a gift and put this energy to some good use.

Happy Weekend Eve, everyone. :)

Yay for the good sleep. Doesn’t it make a difference to your mood? Whatever caused it I hope it continues. Have fun with all that extra energy.
I also slept really well last night - I put a heavy blanket on top of the duvet as it was cold when I went to bed. I don’t know if it was the extra weight or warmth but I woke up feeling so cosy and rested.

The rain started at 10:30. Relentless since then.

Went out half hour ago with phone camera under my jumper. Best pic I could take unseen!

Came in and had to take all my wet clothes off!!! Back in bed with cat to warm up...

I have a paddling pool all round my bungalow...a lot of rain, but not as much as I thought it would be.

I most certainly wouldn't like to be out driving in this.

So take care if you are out and about!

It sounds blissful. Our London hotel years ago had heated towel racks in the bathroom -- lovely for hanging pajamas on before bedtime! :)

I love this -- very Vincent van Gogh-ish! Beautiful photo.

Wow, what a great photo. I spend hours with an expensive Camera trying to get abstract water pictures and you pulled it off under your jumper with a phone camera, well done you, worth getting wet for.

We also have the rain and more forecast for Saturday. Miserable but necessary.

Thank you @Muddy Cyclist for the compliment :)

It has taken me a couple of hours in bed to warm up again!!!!

Haha I can just imagine their expectant faces watching to see if you were going to finish it.
They sit there so patiently - and their patience is always rewarded as I am never able to eat restaurant sized portions of fish, chicken or meat.

A 5.8 this morning and a brilliant day. Done the admin and tidied out drawers and cupboards, did the lesson planning for next week and the house is all ready for daughter and family's visit. They are on their way to and will be staying with us over the weekend.

Wow. Did you eat the Duracel bunny? (other batteries and game are available)

@jjraak et al., I have been watching a fascinating segment about fishing with otters in the Sunderbans region of India and Bangla Desh. Just now Googling it to see where it is in relation to Goa. There is an ancient fishing tradition in the Pacific Northwest along the coasts of Oregon and Washington and British Columbia, there are otters too, AFAIK, but I have never heard of any of the people there domesticating them for fishing. I wonder if they ever did ...

Evening All. Got to Kent just after lunchtime without too many dodgem moments. My dog sitting was also without incident and my dear friend returned from the Dr with an excellent report. We celebrated this evening with an Aldi Orange & Persian Lime gin (x2) and a big fish. @gennepher amazing photo hope you are now fully warmed up. @SaskiaKC sorry your bathroom is without heating. Am missing my girls but OH is looking after them and reports Daisy cuddled up with her teddy this aft and they are both being very friendly with him. Bestvwishes to you and the KC.
