That's the place. I taught at Downham Market High School for a while. Those villages are picturesque, tranquil and Norfolky. I guess when we move into Suffolk we may be sworn enemies of Norfolk. @Krystyna23040 excepted.

That picture reminded me a little of pictures I have seen of Grantchester Meadows. I have been along the Backs, but haven't been to Grantchester. I do love wide open spaces, and I love being near water.

I hear ya. 100-mile move for me, and I'm hoping there will be enough of me to pack and move enough of "mine" to manage in the new place. Right now I'm tempted to return Mama's desk to the friend who kept it for me for several years until I could send for it; pack up the KittenCat, my guitar and teddy bear, and book an Uber.
I do wish I had a couple of strong men to lift and load the heavy stuff -- I wish Timothy and John Mark were available, and Onesimus, if he's free ...

good afternoon all

4.6 yesterday and 4.8 today

we took Katy for her first mini clip yesterday, just round her nose and eyes, feet and 'ahem' nether regions she was very good and, because her puppy coat is quite soft, came out looking like a powder puff on legs after a good brushing still cute though She goes back in 2 weeks for the next installment, part of the groomers' sensible regime to get her used to things a bit at a time.

Despite it being well above freezing here we have a blustery wind today which makes it feel really cold, I went out with the long handled clippers to deal with some of the downed bush in the garden and had to come in out of the wind.

Off back through the thread now to catch up (hopefully) with everyone

Even though you want to sell your house it's difficult having strangers trawling through it...I never stayed home during any of the viewings at my flat...I just didn't want to watch the reaction & couldn't bear hearing any comments made about my space...it's difficult lwts hope there aren't too many viewings before you get a good offer...likely to have unsettled you.

Yes, sadly not one person passed by for me to try and convince how great painting fences is, neighbours all kept a low profile. Painted 7 fence panels with 2 coats each, had to move many shrubs and clematis away first and brush off green stuff but all done just have to put all trellis back tomorrow.

Just watching another pink sunset behind the hill in front of my house, all the Oak trees are like black fingers against the silver and pink sky, magical.

@ianpspurs love bonfires, had one recently, burning paperwork, used garden refuge burner. Enjoy whilst we can the zero carbon lobby will put an end to such pleasures.

Oh no. Totally forgot about some of the drawbacks of living with people around me. Painting fences, burning things in those tiny bin things, curtains. Too late now but losing its lustre rapidly.

I thought of you yesterday when I tried my second cup of coffee black.
I think I need more practice with that ...

I’ve been trying and failing for a few months with black coffee, then suddenly it was ok and I wasn’t struggling to drink it, in fact I actually think I prefer it now!! Same happened with sugar in tea, I tried for years to give it up, then decided enough was enough and stuck with it and now I can’t imagine drinking tea with sugar. Good luck, keep at it, even if you only manage half a cup black, by the time you put cream in, you’ll only be using half as much.

@DJC3 @PenguinMum @SaskiaKC and everyone else who have mentioned our Labrador Moet. Mrs MC doing lots of research on K9 diabetes and says VETS are more enlightened than NHS as many mention making sure that treats are all Low Carb and it's a good idea to regularly monitor the pets BG by investing in a Monitor and taking blood from pricking their ear. Ouch!

What a ridiculous but somehow unsurprising situation where vets know more about diabetes than our clinicians. I wouldn’t fancy doing the ear prick blood test regularly though. I can’t even get a brush near Dennis without a major battle. I hope he copes with it all ok. As a lab I’m sure he’ll take it with enormous good humour and stoicism.
Good luck for the HbA1c same thing usually happens to me, and I sometimes wonder if thinking about it actually causes the rise in bg!

I made a joke the day before yesterday that I was going to buy some potted daffodils so I could join spring with the rest of those who were posting the daffodils in their garden. Mine don't come out for another month!

but the potted daffodils were only in leaf and not flower! So I bought some silk ones from the pound shop! They brighten up the garden!

I might get some more. The snails have eaten all my real primroses...

Yes testing all the time when I remember. Bloods usually lowest around lunchtime when they are either in the 4s or early 5s before meals. Generally around upper 5s or low 6s 2hrs after. Numbers were up but didn't associate it with stress as I had experimented with a piece of Pomelo. Bloods up from 5.3 to 7.3 and stayed in the 6s until late afternoon. Its ages since I have seen anything in the 7s so not best pleased. Not too bad yesterday but up again tonight. 6.3 before evening meal but where that came from I haven't a clue.

The laptop has certainly frustrated me and is now in the repair shop. Apparently the connector was crushed which is why I could remove it but not connect it back up again. New screen required. Tip for future reference do not put heavy suitcases on top of laptops when you go on holiday/

A5 about 45 minutes..

@DJC3 Moet is a typical Labrador puts up with anything he's a good old boy.

Thank you I great pleasure from the art you and @gennepher treat us with. I hope when the shock of Moet’s reality recedes you will find a way, and I’m sure you will, to help him live with it. Although my oets of choice are my cats I dont dislikedogs and am full of respect for people who love their pets whatever species. Good luck to Moet (great name btw!).

My first offer fell through PM...viewings had been slow & sparse just before the exchange of contracts the buyer pulled out I was devastated thought I'd lose this one...got myself together again pressed on put it back on the market...the next four days were manic viewing after viewing...several offers above list price...the last viewer was late we assumed she wasn't coming I was home when she arrived...I showed her round she & her sister bought it for well above list price...there is a buyer out there for your house no doubt about that.

I am sorry no one came by to help you paint the fence. If you lived near the same river that runs near here I could have rafted up to you -- one thing I can actually paint is a fence (at least I assume I can; I can paint horse show jumps and a fence is a fence more or less).

The KittenCat was all ready to post here asking to be taken in by one of the cats here for a respite from all the disorder and stress in the air here.
But I suddenly feel calm for a change. I visited the bank manager, and after half an hour an a call to a bank technician somewhere else he was able to get me access to online banking. Everyone there was very nice; it is great to deal with people who seem to like their work and get along well with each other.
Then after i got home and was looking through my files for yet another financial statement, I panicked because the Post Office e-mail said it had been delivered on Saturday and i was afraid I'd thrown it out accidentally with the catalogues. So, another phone call to another company, one that does not send out duplicates.

So I decided to check the mail I never got around to checking yesterday, down in the lobby, and ... there it was!! Along with a piece of mail for someone else who lives here and whose apartment number and name are nothing like mine. Knowing how she must be feeling, I turned it in to the security person at the lobby desk.
Then on the way home from all that, I ran into a neighbor and asked about the "escort" service she organizes, which innocently enough provides escorts to people having outpatient surgery, etc., and the upshot of that is that she is going to drive me not only to get my driver's license tomorrow but to the store I have been wanting to visit for 7 years now.
Yay!!!!!
