What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

So more brushes and other equipment in next batch of paintings, assuming you are not all getting fed up of them.

I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of yours or @gennepher ‘s paintings. Your challenges to yourselves have given the rest of us a lot of pleasure. I really look forward to seeing them. I wonder if DCUK would get involved in producing a charity calendar of your works?

Too little ..Too late ..sadly.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-51364382

think it's not a question of when we join china,

it's how bad it gets..
IF we don't find a cure asap.

.

I agree @jjraak

This is going to get horrendously worse.

I have always thought that from the start.

I have been reading different warnings from different places, on the things we need to do, and I always thought it was woefully inadequate, and without scaremongering, I believe the transmission is more than what is being said, and more virulent.

I watched the Dr Berry video, I think that @OldButBold posted on the Coronavirus a short whole ago, and in it he suggested that it could live on surfaces for up to 5 days. So I tried researching this. Virtually no info then, I found a research paper, i think from 2010 that suggested it could live for 25 days (I think) on metal surfaces. So at this point i am thinking lift buttons and goodness knows what else, and what about the money coins we use?

It doesn't bear thinking about.

Update: I am trying to educate myself as much as i can and just joined a Future Learn course on Pandemics which has just pooped into my inbox. But the course doesn't start until 17th February.

That would be interesting :)

Thank you for the compliments. It is good if it brightens someone's day!

Thank you. :)
I do have a few smaller things of hers, but the desk was made the year she was born, and I remember when her father brought it to her. I think it had been made for her mother. So an heirloom that I'm just not really ready to give up if I can help it. But the friend who kept it for me loves it too, and she has kids she could possibly leave it to ... So it would continue to be loved ....

Ooh that’s a hard choice. Maybe best to wait til you’re settled in the new place and can see where it might fit. If it feels homey without, then leave where it is, with your friend, but if there’s a gap it would be just perfect for, bring it with you. Don’t rush the decision.

Amazing what a decent sleep can do for us slightly more energetic this morning...working this afternoon (as said) so dinner cooking for later...washing & drying progressing (laundry)… fed the beasts...gardener coming on Saturday to look at the monster hedge be good to see that under control...kitten sitter Miss Liv briefed for her stint early evening...and most importantly another coffee hope I can keep it up!

Agreed 100%

I have never had sugar with my tea or coffee since I was a teenager. In fact , I have never bought sugar in my entire life. I sometimes ( not regularly ) added milk to my coffee before diabetes ( usually only if the coffee was not great quality , just to mask rough flavor).

I think the secret to enjoy black coffee or tea is to keep trying it ( maybe at first with dark chocolate , or a walnut ). But after a while , it is just how you like it.

Also flavored coffee ( like with chocolate flavor or truffle or vanilla flavor ) might make it easier as a starter .

The walnut or dark chocolate is a good tip. Tagging @SaskiaKC in case she misses this post.

Might be an idea to fill the place where you might put the table with empty boxes...see how much it would impact on your living space/room then decide.

back up on the high ridges overlooking McGarrett plains with a understandable 6.0

Why you ask,...did my good deed yesterday.

Lauren's Best friends Mum..had a wardrobe that needed building..so off i trot, near Brighton, so a nice run out in the car
'Mum' looks after me as best she can while i slave away..so plenty of teas, AND a roll with cheese..

kept refusing but i could see she was chomping at the bit to feed me SOMETHING..:bigtears:
so i caved..and ate it...Got there at 1pm stayed and finished up at 10;30pm..
so i'd also like a Sandwich to be taken into consideration, your Honour

So a 6.0..I'm happy with that.

BUT..My god i DO ache today...this getting older lark, not all it's cracked up to be.
older AND wiser....My Buttocks...;)

I Still went for it, thinking i'm still 20+...even knowing i'd suffer today..

But quite impressed by myself..a two man job, but neither she nor her husband could offer any assistance, Nor would i of asked, so i had to think outside the box, and do the build in slightly different order to get it all done, on the day.

and i did........Go me...:hilarious::D

Enjoy the day all.

And another here liking the pictures each day.
does make me stop and examine each one, in a more appreciative manner now i 'KNOW' the artists.

never make a critic or an artist come to that..:hilarious:..

but i enjoy the magnificence of the efforts..
even when they, perhaps don't feel it's their best work..i still enjoy..Bravo.

had a homeless chap, salt of the Earth, used to paint in coloured Biros..thousands and thousands of dots, that made a larger picture..some of it was quite impressive, he also did Clues art, for want of any term to fit it.

he'd paint a picture..say A telephone bill, a baby being born and the sunrise..
would be Bills Birth day..simple but sometimes he just showed us one with NO explanation, so we'd spend ages thinking *** could that one mean..???..

before he'd come back days later, explain ..and then it would be "OF COURSE"..Doh..:bigtears:

Only have one personal 'original' given to me
customer found out it was my birthday ages back and painted me a pic...framed it and brought it in to me.
he'd signed it , too, bless him

Hangs in our hallway..quite proud of it..

Have a wonderful day if you can and be careful what you think - people tend to become what they constantly think about.
.

Interesting observation. Have you ever read a book called The Secret ? Basically says similar, although it’s all about achieving. I do think that if you think optimistic, happy thoughts you are likely to be happier than if you dwell on the misery and unfairness. It’s a positive choice.
I am still fighting the Wednesday’ child label.

I woke to 5.6 which is slightly higher than I’ve been seeing the last couple of weeks. Think it’s that protein phenomenon raising it’s annoying head again as last nights meal included a lot of it.
@ianpspurs good luck with the last minute packing, hope those cricket trophies are well wrapped.
@PenguinMum still in the 5s so all good there.

Frosty good morning to you all. How to evaluate a 5.3 fbg this morning? Not where good lives but sizeable off piste eating yesterday afternoon seems to have been integrated reasonably well. 1/2 a Waitrose 1 Hot X bun cold with loads of Kerrygold - grass fed - and quite a few of Julie's chips from the local chip shop. Bun works out at 24 gms carb - 4.4 @ + 2 hrs. Evening meal and 3 or 4 tests before bed topped out @ 5.9 with a bedtime 4.9. I maybe need more grunt in my diet. sometimes. Seems 1 Timothy 4 (al la ESV) applies here. 15K+ steps daily plus lifting, while clearing sheds (4), over the last few days suits me. 15k steps just walking is my idea of wasted time (at least without dogs).. Re FUBB - obviously referring to the wonderful Wisbone Ash album:angelic: Have a great day. The chasps is a packing of us today. Julie is not that tall so I need to label her: do not pack:)
If y'all like acronyms 1 of my all time faves sums up diabetes (and Johnsonia) and its "funny" little ways: BOHICA:angelic:

I'd have to say an old one but since going LCHF,...SNAFU covers it nicely for me.

I'm different BUT coping very well thank you ...i like to think :D

In case you were wondering why I was researching the effects of the coronavirus on surfaces...there was a reason...
Last week I got an order from China. It had been ordered in December. I thought it was lost which suited me. But it arrived at the beginning of last week.

I am thinking oh no, I am not going to open this. I kicked it to the corner and covered it with an old jumper.

So, this is the reason why I was researching coronavirus and surfaces, and possibly airborne stuff if I opened it.

All I found in current recommendations was any mail or packages from China are safe to open. But I still wasn't going to open it.

Then I found this. Go to about two thirds way down the page, where it says 2010 research and surfaces...

I think populated areas are probably more likely to spread any virus if its present. The thing is the symptons of people becoming ill are the same as flu eg my son, his GF and her mother had a nasty flu that lasted several weeks before Christmas the remnants of which remain in the mum. Is everyone going to their GP (bearing in mind how long that takes) with flu now going to be tested for CV or is only people who have visited China? But someone who has visited China and has the virus without symptons could well have used the handrail on the bus and someone who never went to China could pick it up and display flu symptoms later. It seems like roulette to me.
What I would suggest about your parcel from China is put it high up in an outside shed or in a sealed bin bag and leave it a month or so before opening it. Make sure Popeye or other animals ant get it or just set fire to it!

I am actually thinking of the bonfire option @PenguinMum
It is absolutely not worth the risk given the current situation....

mmhh..dr barry was saying the same, but at shorter times... i think you mentioned 5 days
the thought of 28 days later (;)) is a worrying thought

Sad to say after the DX for what is, i now KNOW a disease with a HIGH probabilty that it CAN be managed quite successfully with dietary changes,
....YET the powers that be still send FAR too many down the Pathway to complications and worsening health...

My 'Confidence' in the medical establishment, it's honesty and integrity,
let alone it's ability to manage a Crisis. (HELLO..T2 Tsunami/Obesity tidal wave) that it has HAD dozens of years to check, recheck and ACT on..

Left THIS building a long ways back....:banghead:

I'm happy here, with my Tinfoil hat on ..for now.:bag:

Better to err on the cautious rather then be blindsided when they come clean and tell us to ..

"BUCKLE UP..
Pooh Storm IN COMING
..:woot: "

On that note the slow down of products from china can only accelerate i would have thought.
noticed on amazon etc the times are always long, yet things arrive pretty quickly considering..(just in time ?)

We may be having to do a lot of reassessing to do about where we buy stuff from.

the virus will stop some workers/factories..but how many will be thinking..mmm to packages from china..
rightly or wrongly...that's got to have an impact on them, and worldwide, i'd say.

This is an interesting watch from a British doctor who is referring to solid peer-reviewed evidence

I haven't been on for a few days, still keeping up to date with you all but just taking a bit of a break. All's well, so no worries, just my Asperger's doing its thing ;)

Not read the book called The Secret but I do think that if you decide that you are going to enjoy your day, then you probably will.
Most stuff encountered in life seems the same: if I think that I can do something then I probably can - if someone thinks that they can’t sort out their diabetes then they probably won’t.
