What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

That must have been a tricky conversation with your friend. Are you feeling better (not about your car but the lurgy)?
She is an insulin dependent T2 who never tests before she drives & won't change her carb consumption...when she was back & forth hitting my car she also hit my neighbours behind her with my neighbour & her daughter still in the vehicle...her car door (big SUV) was partly open as she reversed she careered back & forth she also took down part of my neighbours wall...she never apologised & behaved very poorly...not once did she ask how my neighbours in the car were...we haven't spoken for several years...I tired very hard to encourage her to make slight changes for her sake & others (road users) she refused point blank none of it was her fault.

Read this and checked the sofas (black leather so fairly obvious) with a white glove. No woodburner here and just no particulates/dust/ash as there were in old house. Quite interesting. What with the 2 dogs, RR and 1 LR back there we must have been a nightmare. Likely to replace the 2 dogs, keep/upgrade the cars but free delivery on Sashimi here and maybe a gas fire so that should reduce our emissions! Not sure it helps greatly with hundreds of huge aircraft within and 5 mile radius.

Looks like your move is an eco-warrior super star.
I have been looking at the production of electric cars for a while and it seems that there is a case for arguing that they are even worse for the environment than the latest small efficient engined internal combustions.
Production of EV batteries in China causes loads of CO2 and of course, charging them up when the wind is not blowing or the sun is not shining causes more CO2. Oh well, like most of these planet saving ideas, some are knee jerks, some are tiny groups of people just shouting loudly and meanwhile politicians around the world seem to dis-beleive anything based upon scientific research and the possibility of unpopular, yet workable, solutions that would result in saving the planet but losing their jobs.
Pretty sure that in the end, the planet will save itself by just killing us humans off and then starting again.

Well I can cough now without hunching my shoulders & holding my ribs plus I have a little appetite...keeping up the meds & the Vicks Vapour Rub that'll be interesting when I get to the supermarket...perhaps the aroma will hasten my journey to the front of the queue...thanks PM

may it speed you through the express lane as quickly as possible
and the person in front isn't playing countdown conundrum with the OH SO extensive list of lottery
tickets that wouldn't shame a vegas casino...

About using open fires they are clearly trying to make it more difficult and more expensive to drive it out of fashion. I really resent this since there are so many bigger offenders of air quality. It seems so easy to pick on the small stuff because they (think) can get away with. The same thing seems to be happening with our food choices (meat be damned) and our cars. So everyone heats their homes and drives their cars on electricity where is all this power going to come from and at what cost to the environment, not to mention our pockets. Am I the only crazy person? Dont even get me started on the row about low skilled workers who are not important enough. Btw I qualify as an economically inactive and wont be plugging any gaps.
Sorry to rant on this holy day.

isn't that what bullies do.
Pick on the ones and twos not the larger group.

and why wouldn't they get away with it.?

it's too diluted, it's the odd thing here and there, who could really object.
It's proven..look at the data..No not there..here..look into my eyes, not around the eyes..

and when we do, it MIGHT just be too late to stop and/or reverse

They are diverting the blame for climate change at those who are least able to 'fight it' so shifting the balance from big industries to individual consumers...they will be able to say we're meeting our promises re: climate change...plus kiln dried logs & other eco products are more expensive no idea how those on low incomes will be able to heat their homes without using more expensive electricity.

maybe closing down huge parts of the countries of the world may help the CC as well

38 new cases in Italy: 36 in Lombary (including a 17-year-old male in Valtellina) and 2 in Turin: a couple who visited their child at the Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin yesterday morning.

- Armed forces and police forces have been mobilized to form an insurmountable "health belt" around contagion areas. Roadblock violators risk up to a 3 months prison sentence.

- "Serious mistake was made not to quarantine people who arrived in Italy from China" said Walter Ricciardi of the WHO, adding that "within two weeks we will know if we are facing an epidemic" and advising that, for the next two weeks, people "should avoid crowded places: metro, buses, trains, schools, discos, and gyms."

- "Schools shall be closed in Milan for a week " said Milan's mayor Giuseppe Sala.

for those who go for tramps in woods..(ooh err)
i wondered if this might be of interest..deadline loooming it seems

Oh dear @jjraak
J and I used to tramp those old footpaths years ago, they were on our maps. Some of them were through people's gardens (oh yes we walked through the garden and when accosted by the home owner showed them our map), and some through farmer's fields (and that was a little hard to defend when a land rover came along with two farmer's with shotguns at the ready, but we held our ground, and I showed the map, but it didn't cut any ice with them, and we got escorted off and warned not to return.. )

However, even though I cannot do that footpath walking any more, I do have old maps...and I can view from Google Earth...

Maybe I will find the old footpaths...

As long as India, China and USA (Oz?) continue to look away why am I being persecuted on environmental and climate change issues. I grew up in a house where nothing was ever wasted, food, scraps and peelings went to neighbours pigs, anything from the smallest bit of twine to wrapping, broken anything was kept for further use. I live by the same rules though not as inventive with recycling. This year I have decided not to buy any clothes because I have more than enough good stuff in the cupboards. I am not a fan of flying so dont use it much. I just feel I am doing my best, like we all are, and they should be worrying about fixing the floods not picking on individuals

@gennepher - blown away by that picture. I get evocative memories of wonderful times when I look at it. Thank you so much.

The Forum International House of Pancakes is a future plan, just show a post & pushover Chef Barb will do a bogof for you *smirking*

Thank you very much @Barb McD
I am glad it brought good memories.

I am fancying one of your pancakes with lemon and sugar...but I can't have the sugar and flour upsets me ... sigh ...

Extra hugs for all that @HarryBeau for everything around the whole debacle.

Those of a pet fixated and minimal sense of humour please read no further. This posting will only offend you.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those eco warriors, remember greenpeace was anti nuclear, then some intelligence was applied to their policies and they became pro nuclear, but with sound reservations.

A young 6.7 this morning it appears my intimidation tactics are working with my meter, but it's still on probation.

Still with me?
Yesterday I went to the Pet Recipe and Road Kill recipe writers convention, held at a secret location in Twickenham close to the famous HQ. Invite only and very hush hush. Many famous chefs with assumed names were in attendance sharing recipes and techniques. Really interesting stuff. The highlight is always the evening meal, usually 4 or 5 courses, unfortunately not a great deal of low carb, but if your careful you can eat sensibly.
Unfortunately the venue made a slight error.......

The main course and highlight was, yep you guesed it VEGAN. The chef had been got at by the animal rights lot.
