What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a lackluster start to International Bin Day in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of refusing to waste my life on producing puff pastry - how on earth did that get invented - came in at 5.6 this am.

Shortcrust - enough for a few quiche tartlets and a Torode of a shallot and tomato tatin. The Fiberflour that I used (4% carb) performed well and made very tasty and short pastry, eagerly scoffed during a more savoury afternoon tea.
Note to self: stop worrying that the ridiculous spell checker on this site does not know how to spell using all the colours in the alphabet [go to settings and spend endless hours head scratching].

Yes, the ultra fine - and it is. I got a 5kg bag. The lonjevity website has a few recipes and images that you could have a look at to see what people have produced. I am going to have a go at bread rolls later this week, if I can get some yeast.

Thanks. I ordered the 1kg bag from there as a trial for bread making. Unsure about 5 kgs before I know if it works. Far too many dismal and expensive failures with LC/keto recipes. We have yeast, dry and live, my ideal would be a sourdough from their flour if at all possible.

Yes, I have a cupboard full of old chemistry experiments that don’t quite cut it. Sourdough - excellent idea - I do miss sourdough and now can’t get the idea out of my head.
 
Morning all. Sorry to hear about the lack of water @gennepher, hope its sorted quickly. I agree with @Krystyna23040 if this lady can sew then making masks is pretty straightforward and instructions can be texted to her. What about the no sew version of face mask using an old folded tee shirt and elastic bands?

Just got back.
In bed again with a cuppa hot tea.

The supermarket I went to was bang in the water cut off area. And I think the people in the queue were hoping to use the supermarket toilet facilities...no chance...no water to flush...

It is a massive area affected by this water burst, many square miles and leading into the next town which is 8+ or more miles away from here...it might be 10 miles away...

That is one humongous area for a water burst.

So my morning is in disarray, but I have bottled water. People were buying up the small bottles of expensive spring water in the supermarket. I went for the bottled tap water...17p for a 2 litre bottle! Plenty of that left!

The sun has just come out here....
 
@dunelm - forgot to say thank you for the heads up regarding the fibre flour - might treat myself.

EDITED to say also forgot to say loved your take on face masks. The smell of bacon all day long hmmm....

On a sad note we got some bad news yesterday - the elderly friend I mentioned who contracted Corona Virus has died. It wasn't unexpected as she had been deteriorating over the past few days and they had stopped treating her other than making her comfortable. For the last three days she had been unconscious, and they were just giving her palliative care. Its very sad and we will miss her. Arguably even sadder, she was going for dialysis via a hospital taxi with 4 other patients we found out that everyone of them had contracted corona virus, including the taxi driver.

Yes I can do that.
I have a printer.
There are a few templates for masks with the printed instructions. I saved them to Google Drive as I found them.
That would make life a heck of a lot easier for me.
I will have to send her knicker elastic as well, as she doesn’t have any.
Why do I have knicker elastic? Because when Woolworths closed down many years ago, they had some reduced to next to nothing!

You have made my day a whole lot easier, and it will give my friend something to do...

How awful is this virus.

Unseen, unhindered, and others still refuse to take heed and act to protect others.

i think it's rather ludicrous when 26K+ plus are being killed
others think that word is the offensive one..but hey ho.

Thanks. I came back home with bottled water. Still waiting for mains water.

Yes she can sew and has a sewing machine...
Unfortunately I can't text her pictures or patterns, she has a very basic textphone. But I will print out patterns and instructions and a couple of pics and post them to her. I will check out your no sew one video in a minute with another cup of nice hot tea!

Thanks for the painting compliments. I miss the days when I could climb cliffs and climb high. But I can paint them now.

I will look up that fibre flour as well...
Those bacon masks were brilliant weren't they...I can smell them now :)
