What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Plan to get out on my bike today. Trying to build up stamina. ‍♀️
Other than that, wet day forecast so will be housework (boring) and maybe unpack/list/repack a few boxes.
Or there is internet shopping.
Meals not yet decided, apart from cauliflower kedgeree, for breakfast and a much anticipated coffee with CAKE. Can't remember the last time I had that. Ofc the cake is LC. Still feels like a little luxury though.
@Muddy Cyclist That really could not be anywhere else but England.
@Krystyna23040 well done you for tackling something new. Crossing that job off the list must have been so satisfying.
@gennepher hope the water is back on soon. Am now experimenting with an onion root in water. We shall see what, if anything, it does.
Also missing climbing high. Cliffs not possible now, but i have an overgrown orchard. Maybe i will have to do some pruning when the rain stops.
@ianpspurs good to see you back and sounding so positive.
@dunelm. Nice pastry is a good start. Had abandoned all thought of that. No yeast here wonder if the village shop would have some? That would be a test for functional french. and @ianpspurs thanks for mentioning 1kg bag. Much better option for experiments.
@Ryhia How sad to lose your friend, and How terrible that all who shared the transport are now sick.

And if you want to go the whole hog here's how to make a plastic face protector using a hairband
There was a brilliant example of how to make a face mask out of a sock on Gogglebox last Friday I'll see if I can find it.

the elderly friend I mentioned who contracted Corona Virus has died. I
That's very sad reading Rhyia I am sorry to hear about your friend I very much hope the others who contracted it can pull though.

Morning (late morning to be precise)...had a good sleep thankfully a whole six hours...coffee & browsing the shopping portals managed to secure a click & collect slot with Tesco's very exciting...I also have one with Asda on Sunday so can cancel the one is 10 days time and release that for others...this shopping lark has been difficult but it has got better....it rained all day yesterday & into the evening ***cute pet alert for those sensitive to pet overload*** so I kept the beasts in except for a brief interlude last night they were doing zoomies unitl nearly midnight...exhausting finally just before I almost cracked they wore themselves out & fell asleep...don't care if it pees down later if they want to go out they are going out...woke to a 7.2 no hugs still the residue of my after a good diabetes review foray into the world of contraband carbs today I have regained control thankfully...off to brew another coffee keep safe everyone.

Still awaiting mains water return...
Hope the experiment works.
Rain has stopped here...we have sun!
Take care pruning @SlimLizzy

Wont be pruning just yet @gennepher. Rain forecast every day for at least a week, need to let the trees dry, otherwise very slippy. #notthatstupid. Appreciate your concern though.

On a sad note we got some bad news yesterday - the elderly friend I mentioned who contracted Corona Virus has died. It wasn't unexpected as she had been deteriorating over the past few days and they had stopped treating her other than making her comfortable. For the last three days she had been unconscious, and they were just giving her palliative care. Its very sad and we will miss her. Arguably even sadder, she was going for dialysis via a hospital taxi with 4 other patients we found out that everyone of them had contracted corona virus, including the taxi driver.
Oh that's very sad and for the others who also have it, this is a vicious virus.

good morning all :)

was 4.3 yesterday and 4.2 today

don't know why my post for yesterday disappeared :sorry:

we had a fairly productive day yesterday, we managed to get the grass cut at mum's :joyful: fortunate that we did because it bounced down with rain during the night.

Pre-diagnosis me could never have imagined how much I enjoy doing that sort of job in the garden nowadays :hilarious:

@ianpspurs - plants, I was transplanting plants :D :p

Out early this morning to do the weekly shop for mum and ourselves, we noticed that far more people were wearing masks in the shops this morning.
Glad to be safely (as far as we know!) back home again :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@gennepher - sending hugs and I hope your water situation is resolved quickly today.
I enjoyed your latest pastel, I love the colour and depth you bring. I don't know the Gower Peninsula very well but I spent some very happy holidays on the LLeyn peninsula in my youth and this reminds me of a cliff path there :joyful:

@SaskiaKC - your latest image has a sort of dark elegance, reminds me of the roof bosses in gothic vaulted ceilings :)

@Muddy Cyclist I enjoyed your latest 'vista' , love your use of colour and the contrast and vibrancy you bring :) interesting that you feel the middle ground is a bit more foreshortened than you wanted.

Art catch up -
trying out something I saw online - sprinkling salt on the foreground whilst it's still wet to create texture

Salt worked well, but I do like the way your sky goes back and back real depth to the horizon.

Thank you for the comments on my last watercolour. Hard to explain but I still feel there should be more distance between foreground and horizon but without moving the horizon up the paper, a real puzzle for me.

I went into Tesco again today, less people, more masks and some who either don't care and make it obvious they don't about social distance guidelines and others that wonder around clueless. I'm afraid when less lockdown restrictions are introduced we may be at even a greater risk. Shopping still feels a very risky venture.

Thank you for your comment on my Mirrograph picture. :) I love your sea- and landscape. Peaceful and calming, and the tree reminds me of my favorite tree outside the building where I live.

7.1 this morning.

Thank you @geefull
The Welsh coastline is very beautiful.

That is a great effect. I have never been successful sprinkling salt.
I like this scene very much.

My pastel painting for today for my daily painting challenge.
The sun is out today between the clouds. A little bit of wind.
A dramatic sky for my painting.
It took a couple of hours.
A sunrise.
I used a tiny photo from the Collins weather book that J gave me as inspiration for this pastel.
