What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.40am FBG 5.1
Going to supermarket this morning. Trying out the slightly longer back roads route.
After my scare last trip am observing all safetly precautions and it's taken ages to get ready.
Will be utilising the mask delivered personally by the local Mayor on her bike yesterday. Cannot imagine that happening in UK.
Feeling a bit nervous, finding it difficult to actually go. Keep wanting to tidy one more thing
Should be back by lunchtime.
Take care on that bike. I hope your back Lanes are as quiet s around the village we Cycle from in France, we can usually do 2 hours and at best see a farmer and postman.

Here's a phrase that doesn't appear too often in the daily briefings. Classic Dom seems to have banned it. Cynical as I am, surely that can't be their policy? Male chicken up or conspiracy theory of events? These guys (Govt) well suited to running campaigns which don't carry responsibility and everyone accepts lies/exaggeration but totally unsuited to governing. "Men in grey suits" need to have a quiet word and sharpish.

A most
interesting read... Thank you for posting

And if we take it just academically, it exposes the incompetence of the entire govt response.

Consider, the tone is now still dictated by the death rate..

While we can explain more testing raises the
rates of infected, the deaths are still too high.

And that is why they are now belatedly hung on a hook of their own making.

Had they actually had a plan and prepared in January, the care home scandal would be well handled, and the unlock more akin to Germanies and others

Because they botched the preparation part, they have now fallen to that old adage, "fail to prepare, prepare to fail."

They once again have not fully thought through all possible scenarios, and have again lost control of yet another segment of the route back to safety .

Until the R0 is stable below 1 AND deaths are below 2/300 a day, the releasing of the lockdown, carries major risks... And NOT relaxing the lockdown carries grave risks too.

Hoist on a hook of their own incompetence.

Would almost be a joy to watch them twist, squirm and try to spin their way out if it, if it wasn't all so personal and tragic to millions.

This group are led and set up to permanently campaign by making promises people want to believe but are totally unrealistic. They know this and expect the majority of the public also know this. The result is they are fundamentally unsuited to govern and can't deliver. A smarter/more self-aware/ possessed of a conscience man at the top would cite illness and a young family, shuffle off to the Lords as a hero who won 2 campaigns (albeit against truly terrible opponents both times) before his and his party's reputation were forever destroyed as the architects of this cluster whatsit. But we both know he won't because they are all the qualities he lacks and despises in others.

Well you know just about everything that has happened and is happening now with this pandemic happened 100 years or so ago with the Spanish Flu pandemic there is nothing new under the sun it seems.

When you don't learn from the mistakes of history you are doomed to repeat them.

Including giving the pandemic a false name in that case.

Not sure about my daily painting, again trying to capture that Last Light of the day. We live close to a working forest mainly pine trees and the Last Light glows and softens the trunks and branches, it started like that but I could not resist working on the trees which I feel have now become too defined, ha well pleanty of time to try again. A4 watercolour about 2 hours, because I overworked it...

Without actually seeing you working at this painting, I like it very much the way it is @Muddy Cyclist

But I know what you mean, about carrying on working at something, when it might have been a good idea to stop that wee bit sooner...it is a fine line...

good afternoon all :)

4.3 this morning

well I've done very little today, it's bounced down with rain all day so we haven't been out for a walk even :sorry:

I decided to sort out and swap over some winter and summer wardrobe items, found a few items to go for recycling and a few for the charity shop (if we ever get the all clear to go back there :().

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@gennepher - very strong pastels again, very effective use of colour and light :joyful:

@Muddy Cyclist - I'm liking the undergrowth and the light through the trees, I do like the trees too but can perhaps see what you mean about the 'overworked', the foliage is strong and distracts a little from the lovely soft focus of light through the trees and on the path.
Having said that I wish I could get anywhere close to that level :)

speaking of which - today's art catch up
a bit wishy washy :sorry:

Not at all, good use of watercolour paints a nice light touch and well seen landscape.
Thanks for you compliments and comments re my trees. I have looked at it again since putting a mount around it and it improved. It's well worth mounting some work, neatly always makes the painting look better, cheat really but seems to work. :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful::)

Thank you for the compliment @geefull

Yours is a gentle painting, NOT wishy washy as you say. We all paint differently.
And I love the lone tree!

My friend from Germany tells me some lockdown restrictions are being relaxed,
"Shops, hair salons, fitness centers are opening, schools from next week too but restaurants, cafes, saunas, kindergartens remain closed.
From yesterday one can travel within Germany, but outside trips are not to mid-June.".
She got a job as a helper for different families who had to work from home as well as home school their children during lockdown to help them cope, so she was allowed to mix with them.

Yesterday, the V.E. street party which was supposed to be from individual gardens, ended up being from one garden with no social distancing and the normal social interaction of a party, and outsiders came in as well. I just took one look and came straight back in. I would like to live on this Earth a little longer without contracting Covid-19

Can any one else still post the cheeky shocked tongue face. . Just asking for a friend. ;):hilarious:

beautiful sunny, counting the neighbours for the next week or so.
street party yesterday, all the sensible ones too, with little or no Social Distancing....:wideyed:
all falling for the clever govt none disclosure but wink wink, changes are coming..

herd immunity, still a big part of the play book.

and sadly the care home scandal
looks to be dooming far too many, while this govt is in power.
