What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I thought I would give you a pastel sunrise today for my daily painting challenge to myself. Something different from the sunset of yesterday.
I have seen enough from mountain tops in my time...
This is from one of the pictures in my scrap box of photos and photocopies.

This took me a couple of hours to do...

Lovely and a good reminder of why I took up mountaineering - great sunrises and sunsets - thank you.

Ok LINK explains the science, better then I can I think.

However it kind of makes sense if you have ever followed a smoker in the street.

To keep myself grounded, I try and see breath as anyone talking who MAY spit a little while talking.
I don't have to be too far away if they are standing still, to avoid....shop or queue etc..but do if they are puffing away on the push bike in front or jogging ahead of me as I run behind them.

And as for masks.
I did post ages back some Chinese uni tested home made masks at 80%÷ as effective as FFP1

The understanding I got is the filter rate of material is important..I think denser aka harder to breathe through. Think tea towel versus cotton shirt, is better.

I saw and tried the sock mask. Yeah I know
But it was simple, and better then nothing.

I tied mine with elastic through the loops behind my head ( yes I never got out of that blue Peter stage ) and it felt and looked ok. Might be Better then nothing until mask arrives.

My thoughts only on masks - weighing up protection vs breathability, if you know a quilter, ask them to make you a mask. You could also buy some filter material which is rated MERV 12 or higher (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) - sold in rolls on the interweb. Sandwich it between a couple of layers of close woven cotton fabric.

Have thought all along with the chaotic responses from govt we were on our own..
Not much changed really.

Just got to be more measured in what we do in relation to what others might do.

And of course work out the puzzle of just what boris's advice actually means..:hilarious:

Much preferred it when we had a parliament not a president ;)
This explains everything clearly...

Make sure you have the sound on...

The Food Fairy is making these in an attempt to raise my fibre intake in a low carb way. I find Inulin is noisy but useless for onward transit purposes. No salad today so flaxseeds and chia seeds missing as well. - awks. https://www.lonjevity-foods.com/chocolate-chip-cookies?utm_campaign=Subscriber Campaign&utm_source=hs_automation&utm_medium=email&utm_content=66665415&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-_qFn2i6ZlyaSuFALSaYOjjHoJdBahpUJbB7iAb_GI9s4frGkUGBTASH68h4ijXqK8wGLoGbPLFzGa0QWkIO2HWDC2o_w&_hsmi=66665415 More experimentation with Libre and an opportunity to finally use up 2.5 kgs of Callebaut Cocoa mass (older than 3 of my granddaughters)

You may find this of interest I have long said hepa filter type material is very good for home made masks,

And he promises the next phase will require more complex instructions to be issued. From my years of training the not so bright members of society, I hope he does not use more than 3 complex instructions or a huge part of society will be floundering even more.

Good luck Krystyna I have done some remote work but able to use my mobile...not looking forward to when I have to up my technology input to zoom or some such similar platform...I am technologically incompetent so lord know where'll I'll end up.
I am technologically incompetent also but Zoom is surprisingly easy to use on my PC - until this morning. Have done four half day sessions so far. They went brilliantly.

This morning - no sound at all. Impossible to do a course with no sound. Tried and tried to get it working for 3 hours. Found out this afternoon that Zoom had massive problems in the UK today - so it wasn't me or my computer at fault.

@gennepher sunrise, sunset.... becoming your signature masterpieces, love them. Good light no colour very week captured in this one..

I have had such a busy day, no really I have, bike ride, front garden weed, Campervan polish, daughter all afternoon for front garden social distance visit, preparing skinny pizza for tea. So no watercolour but a quick oil pastel study for my next watercolour, Woodland Pools. I decided the Canson Rough Cotton Paper I'm using needs a more abstract approach so this is a study for just that.... on black paper again and done outside whilst getting my vitamin D. A4 about 15 mins.

I find doing studies helps with the watercolour creation even though the finished work may be nothing like the study.

I have one of the tube scarves, and have used that as a mask. On a it's better than nothing basis. However that was in Lockdown proper, when there were only twenty five people allowed in the store. Last time I was there sixteen or twenty people queuing at the checkouts. At least that many more shopping. Few people wearing masks. Majority not. Could see no sign of social distancing apart from one metre markings at checkouts. Someone pushed in front of me and then took fifteen minutes to finish his purchases. Waiting all that time, in a queue, was extremely stressful.

Thank you for the compliment @Muddy Cyclist

Maybe that's why shopping has been put off until, hopefully, next Sunday. Although with the near empty fridge that will be a challenge . Not as large a challenge as trying to get to a better supermarket in a different town will be though.

That sounds completely stressful @SlimLizzy
It was extremely bad manners anyway to queue jump in front of you, but when you leave the required distance people are doing that now. Happened to me on Friday.
But what do you do?
Saying something can cause an incident.
I am also finding there is only one till operator on duty now, instead of several, this causing. long queues.
It doesn't make sense.
