What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just a bit more re yesterday

home for dinner, and my new routine Netflix, Prime, etc streaming

During lockdown, i have sat and watched the Witcher, finished serries, ok liked.

that intrigued me, i have found little of interest on TV beside GoT and TWD,
attention span of a goldfish for most shows.

BUT as said, the Witcher piqued an interest, so then went on to
The Last Kingdom...thoroughly enjoyed..finished series

Then took a 2nd look at Vikings..had looked before, but read this was the others side of the Last kingdom.
King Alfred, Wessex and the danish raids and Danelaw.

Have to say, quite liking this one too, now.

so now plan on reading up on the period.

who knew, maybe the T2D hasn't fried my brain like i'd thought,
T2D has just helped me reject the stuff and nonsense pumped out by
the more lazy TV producers..

....maybe.

read on re the show "I may destroy you"

while not the target audience, i do like to keep an eye on new to me.
and the missus for deffo likes the more gritty 'Real' then fictional real.

so good to note i was aware of code switching.
which in all sensibleness, we all do to tailor our personal projection on to others,
in various ways, dependent upon audience.

Information, the gift that keeps on giving.

Breakfast 2 poached eggs, low carb bread and some low salt/sugar Baked beans
replenished the beast with in, for a short while.

health wise feel GOOD.

Breaking out of the holding pattern of late.

Been out and about a lot more of late.

Yesterday cemetery with Niece.
we SD and did the elbow greet.
felt odd, but nice to see she was physically ok

So off we went.
sat in car diagonal front N rear.

her mum & dad first for flower laying.
a gentle moment, a time to reflect and a leisurely walk around the gardens

then to the cemetery next door to my Mum & dads grave , her gran & granddad
a little flower arranging, and a moment of silence each,,,a nice moment.

then a little chat while standing graveside, and the cracks showed,
her eyes brimmed and the sobs came and any will i had to keep strict SD, melted.

A gentle hug, much missed over 3 months, seemed to set us both back to a more normal time,
when the closeness & love of family was a given.

A sad moment indeed, but when shared with those who KNEW the loss,
a moment to treasure.

We had a sedate day, no rush, so when caught in traffic, just observed how normal it all looks in London

The journey took us through Barnes, by the river.
PACKED with drinkers, supping ale from the pub opposite doing a roaring trade in Takeaway (to the riverside, drain & repeat)..a touch concerned, for sure but in all honesty.... would i have joined them, and kept MY SD going..maybe.

Back to hers and the attention of her 4 cats for a cuppa.
an easy chat, many thanks both sides for the day.

Ps. SD went well all day, until we spotted this cow who seemed to think she owned the whole pavement...;):D

Glad you managed a day with your family members - always good when you are there for each other.
 
Well what a day so far, the sun came out, youngest grandchild came over and proudly demonstrated her latest thing - waving and clapping. A few nice cards, some even nicer wine. Happy days all round.
Video chat with the three nutters; Chaos, Mayhem and Little Miss Pamplemousse who had been in the ‘forest’ hunting monsters and jumping in puddles.
Watched Professor Peter Piot on the Andrew Marr show earlier - sort of blows the govt’s ideas out of the park.
Art box - decided to check out some of the items this afternoon - some wine tasting going on at the same time. Fall of the phoenix or just simply Ker-splat!

Sounds like a great day so far and loving the artwork. Puts my day to shame. The best the Food Fairy and boys can do for me is roast lamb (shoulder, local, new season), local seasonal veggies, some Pomerol and a card made by a seemingly very talented 1 year old. (To be fair, Friday was my birthday, the boys bought me a set of golf clubs and Julie bought me some clothes from guys called Hawes and Curtis)

Painting for today, using the Joy of Painting free course as inspiration. It was suggested to use some materials you have not used before. But I have used all my materials, so how do I do this. The lady had done some black and white work as a demonstration. So, I thought I will do black and white.

I used the 8 inch canvas again. I was using the black Japanese Fude pen, and sprayed the canvas with water, but it went wrong...it went into a mess.

I went and made a cuppa.

Then I got black acrylic in the small metal tube, and squoze it out. Then spread the black with the flat base of the tube, and drew lines with that as well. Still a mess, I should have mopped up the sprayed water before I carried on. But I cannot now, so I carried on. I got some white acrylic in a small metal tube, and painted areas with that using the flat base at the end of the tube by spreading and drawing with that flat edge.

No other tools were used.

I stopped after half an hour.

Here it is.

The whiter areas are nearly pure white, but it didn't photograph as white as it should have.

good afternoon all :)

4.6 this morning, well, 4.9 but then remembered I'd moved some things from the worktop into the fridge on the way past :banghead: , rewashed hands and retested at 4.6 :)

It chucked it down all morning so we got mid afternoon meal ready for takiing to mum's with the assumption it would be eaten inside, by the time we got there it was lovely and sunny so we ate out in the garden. Chicken and veggies in a cheese and bacon sauce ;) chocolate LC sponge with Lidl full fat greek style yoghurt for afters :)

This was the first portion out of the new style 1Kg yoghurt pot and I'd swear that, although it has more sugar, it tastes noticeably more acidic. I wonder if the changed pot is indicative of a different supplier?

If any of you also buy the Lidl greek style yoghurt in large pots beware getting it out of the fridge, I almost dropped the whole thing because it was slippery with condensation, this new style pot is thinner (so it's more flexible), it has no lip and the cap is very flimsy. I may try Asda's version next week :sorry:

Home again and almost made it round the village before the raiin returned bringing thunder with it, wonderful towering clouds too (remimnded me of one of @Muddy Cyclist 's splendid skies :)

Hope all fathers out there have been sufficiently celebrated :joyful:

and I hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@dunelm - handsome phoenix 'splat' that ;) I like it very much

@gennepher - turned out impressively atmospheric even if it's not quite what you first envisioned, that can be the beauty of experimentation :)

@jjraak good family times are essential to our survival I'm pleased you are finding ways to make this happen even though on this occasion there was an element of sadness.

Good day here other than the heavy rain showers that meant we went against gov guide lines and had to move into our dinning room when Daughter and family visited so 5 inside our house, I now await the knock on the door by the virus rule breaker detectors. It was lovely to have them in our home again, new ways must be found as we all felt guilty and left wondering if, what and when will one of us get the virus, ridiculous! I am working out a winter plan so that family can still meet and feel OK about doing so, I have many ideas, althoughworking out how we will get back to having a family of 12 back into our average 4 bed house and remain safe is a challenge.

Son also arrived later in the day so good to know Dad still does have some importance in their busy lives.

Today's painting, useing my Fathers Day Present selection of Rigger Brushes is a proper A4 size watercolour based on yesterday's sketches of Missing the Seaside, 40 minutes

I like both those paintings. But on a closer look I like the second one the best with the detail in the hills.

A great Missing the Seaside painting. You put that present of the rigger brushes to good use. I could wander down to the beach and put my toes in the water..

Thank you. Roast shoulder of lamb and some Pomerol - wonderful. Interesting isn’t it that infants seem to lose their talents as they grow and then have to learn some more - my 7 month old granddaughter got very inventive.
