What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a damp squib of a start in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of almost a full English at any time of the day came in at 4.1 when I got up at 4am

Granddaughter number 1 came round yesterday, an escape from lockdown fever and proximity of parents I feel. She is 15, only been in school two days a week and at that age tension can mount. After all, teenagers were only invented by cruel clothing and makeup manufacturers in the 1950’s to squeeze more dosh from such a darling, emerging work force. Anyhow, social distancing, stayed for an hour, talked about GCSE going on’s for next year and then off she went.

Hope everyone is well, well, as well as well can be. Koffy.

Bonjour mon ami's

Bonne Bastille, as my neighbours are saying.

a busy few days.

A delightful day yesterday, took Pablo to kensington gardens , parked up and hired a Santander cycle for a journey across and around the park.

Bikes you hire for 30 mins at a time, re-dock then rehire another for 30 mins and all for £2 the entire day..bargain.

So i'm queuing to rehire, so stuck at a busy dock, marble arch.
keep my SD, go to bike ..all good.

when two lovely Scandi girls, pause near me, check mobiles maps, then lean over and ask me for directions..:woot:

i am stuck between cycles entering codes to unlock, with railings to back of me.....
Note to self always scan & check your 6 ..ALWAYS

Can't remember being so flustered around pretty girls talking to me, since primary school.

Tried to be cool, without letting the panic show :wideyed: :hilarious:

But that pleasant person inside is going to be a danger to many.
trying to help, but that meant being a lot closer then i would have intended

we were outdoors, but it was still closer then was good for either of us,
sent them in right direction, so far no symptoms..<Prays>

i then trundled off, a pleasant hour of a two, in the sunshine.....a short snack, then back home.

Today a trip to the big supermarket.
Must say personally much happier shopping, knowing that masks will be needed, soon.
No queue and got most of what i wanted, so happy days

Our steph flew out to turkey the other day.
28 makes her own choices.:bag:

As worried as we were, we both agreed, the risks at the moment seem slimmer.

would we have gone IF we had tickets, we asked ourselves, YES..but with some worries,
but at 28...like a shot.

So far all good , she is well, journey uneventful, all masked majority of time in flight.
And the resort is not one of the better know, busier ones, ( turunc )
mask wearing the law, every where except restaurants/bars and once sat on a sunbed. and rigorously enforced.

over 65 not allowed our after 8pm i think.
nor are under 20's.

So, she's as safe as can be given the circumstances.

when dropping here off i have NEVER seen Stanstead so dead..it was like a ghost town.

Wifes best friend has been fretting, high end travel agent,
all were getting a zoom meeting.... up until today all who had meeting been made redundant.
She was so very worried.

She's had meeting, simply extended her furlough until october..

AND her daughter, got a negative for covid on her test, thank god...RESULT

good luck all.
hugs to those needing a little support,
high fives for those passing MoT's..

FBG 6.2
temp 36.4.

Au revoir

I don't like it,
but for the coffee lovers
an article about nespresso machines caught my eye.
not sure it all stands up ;) as facts, but an interesting read

https://www.theguardian.com/food/20...branding-clooney-nestle-recycling-environment
Interesting read. I have a Nespresso machine and do buy their capsules - but also buy Aldi capsules to keep the cost down. The Aldi capsules are just as nice as the Nespresso ones.

This awful coffe is manufactured less than two miles from my son's cottage at Marston on Dove, factory is at Tutbury, the smell of burnt coffee beans when the wind is in the direction of son's cottage is horrendous and I'm a coffee lover but not this and all those non recycled pods, terrible.
Good your Steph is helping the travel industry, oh to be young and carefree.
Hugs for becoming a nervous wreck around pretty girls, been there during lockdown helping two young ladies get the chain back on their bikes, they had no social distance worries, the things we do and risks we take to be gallant!
I must admit I have a dilemma with the pods. The Nespresso pods are recyclable and they have a good collection system.

unfortunately, I have to carefully take out the Aldi ones as they are not recyclable - which makes me feel really guilty for buying them just because they are cheaper.. I have contacted Aldi about this and they said they were going to recycle them - but that was a year ago and they still haven't done anything about it.

You (probably) won't see the full article without subscription but 2 things are interesting: Current UK Govt. guidelines suggest 50-60% of energy should come from carbs when our ancestors probably functioned at 30%; his (Cracknell) BMR at 46 was 1270 cals versus 2380 for the rest of the crew (training for Boat Race 2019) - mean age 22. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...n-exercise-no-silver-bullet-fighting-obesity/
Yes, it just is so puzzling that we are advised to eat more carbs than our ancestors did - when they were so much more active than the majority of us are now.

I was distracted by bright, shiny objects
Intriguing!
Same warning as yesterday, Take care amongst them city folk. :)

Oh, shopping went well although instead of more people masked up there seemed less, strange, maybe a last protest by the unbelievers before mandatory wearing is required.

Off to MILs now, heaven knows what we will do with all the items we shall be removing. I might try the Little Brothers an order of monks who seem to welcome anything for the homeless.

50-60% of energy should come from carbs when our ancestors probably functioned at 30%;
I used to carb up evening and morning before long Muddy Cycle rides thinking I was doing the correct thing, 19 years I did this so that I could lead the armed forces on two or three day rides in the Brecons. I do long rides still without the carb overload and they are no more difficult. Now here I am Type 2 Diabetic, were they really helpfull? From experience I think not.

Finished yesterday's watercolour as I was up at 5 am just put finishing touch before off to MILs.. So watercolour A4 and a tree I pass under along the Mill Race stream on the traffic tree route onto Cannock Chase, this was done after seeing it on a Last of light ride with SIL a few days back, nice time of day to ride like early morning there is a peace over the land.

If I get time today I will do another evening light tree painting of some Silver Birch Trees that caught the last light of day.
