Just starting to rain now.

Several times to get up..
and then seeing i was up, it was all...how about some food in my bowl...huh ..huh..

so cat feed and watered,

she's taken her mum to turkey.

our steph back, tanned and well after her holiday in turkey.

run both to Stansted, so plenty of outings for me.

Airport still not busy at all.

wife's besties daughter has a new dog.
half chihuahua & 1/4 pug and Jack Russel
6 months old.

took trip to Richmond park,
pics from a few trips.



Just SO nice to be able to go out and about again so (almost ) freely.

many while out at park keeping that SD..which was nice.



I hear the worry @ianpspurs of the celebrations
best will and all that people will get close.

i'd say just keep your own space where you can and be mindful for others
as @Muddy Cyclist says, that closeness may have a different value, sadly.

Oh dear @SlimLizzy , at least Mr slim is on hand to share the load.

and @dunelm , beginning to think the Ninkly Nonks are highly skilled operatives OR your letting your Ninja like skills drift away..

I listened to mum & dad telling tales of ireland and the early days here
but we had a few others that knew more, so i never gave it too much thought
and now i'm one of the few left to tell the tale, so to speak.

so many gaps, i wish i had paid more attention to the stories and tales of the 'early days'
would help so much fill out the plethorea of pics we do have from my side.

Cant help worrying that the next gen or maybe 2, wont have access to such hidden treasure,
so much of it being on line.

Once those links are gone, or mislaid log ons, how much will they miss out on.
( more then a few photo sites upped their prices/shut down the last few years,)

And nothing feels as permanent as real photos do, and while we can get the pics developed and sent on,
few i suspect bother.

Also consider how the formats change, ( i still have camera rolls unprocessed from god knows where )

So much MAY be lost to those in future who might want to discover more about their family history.

Strange but pleasant day. Sorted many photo albums from MILs. Had to go down to farm with Mrs MC so why I waited for her doing horsey things I sketched the view from the field gate, looking across Trent Vale towards Shugbourgh Hall, the farm is part of the Shugbourgh Estate, Pencil A4. Then when home started two watercolour paintings based on the sketches I did a few days ago A5 if they work out I have two gold frames they will go into.


The farmer had taken all his hay and the fields are quite dry at the moment. I hope to finish the painting on Monday.

good morning all

4.5 yesterday and 4.6 today

missd my posting deadline last evening , I was making the gooseberry puree to allow for gooseberry fool today at lunch (I like it made with just stewed, mashed gooseberries but mum finds the skins difficult ), so I went the whole hog and made egg custard too (extra protein goodness ), then I sat down to do a couple cloud study comparisons for yesterday's art and dozed off

Still it does mean that all I have to do for the gooseberry fool is remove the chilled puree and custard from the fridge and stir into the whipped extra thick double cream I may call it 'parfait'

We went to mum's yesterday so mr gee could refit the air filter box he's mended to the lawn mower, we were going to finish off the grass cutting but a couple of torrential rain showers put paid to that.

I do agree with you though that a little extra thought might have lowered the stress level considerably

@SlimLizzy - glad you're getting your long awaited reunion

@gennepher - I'm really enjoying your 'panda' series the second panda has a particularly satisfied air

@dunelm - your landscape is really effective, especially the distant hills and the contrasting ancient tree

@Muddy Cyclist - it's a sobering thought to realise that you may be one of those who needs to document the family or the history may be lost isn't it? My family went through a similar thing when my mum died, she was the last grandparent for my brother and his wife. My SIL began a genealogy project and my part was to digitise and add any history I could to the 'photo box' my parents had of their old family photo's. I made retouched, colour 'restored' (corrected white balance) and digitally repaired versions too, bunged both sets onto DVD's and sent copies to my brother and to my sister.

Lovely sketches all, I used to occasionally do plein air pencil sketches when I was younger and must get back to it. The 'gates' will perhaps make the beginning of a new painting series when you have time and mental leisure to do them, I look forward to them. I like the different treatments you have given the trees in your two pencil sketches and the farm buildings have a nice solidity and shadow detail

I must get out the scanner today sometime and scan the next batch, that's why I call it 'catch up', because I usually scan about a weeks worth at a time, so you're usually seeing last week's daily bits.

Anyway, a dark and cloudy day with quite a 'flat' sea.
Don't know if I'm completely happy with the rather overwhelming sky on this one, I think the balance might benefit from 'cropping' a bit of the top off.

I agree, a bit off the sky as you say might help the first painting.

Nothing wrong with the second painting. The foreground works. It is a beautiful scene.

My little hearing dog Meg was like that, half Chihuahua and half Jack Russell @jjraak
She and Popeye were pretty much the same size, and Popeye was Top Dog!

About 5 years ago, I realised I knew nothing about my family, apart from that were not to be talked about ‘secrets’. But I always remember my grandmother, on my father’s side telling me to remember telling me to remember names of 5 princesses. She made me memorise them. But she wouldn’t explain why. I got nowhere on Ancestry 5 years ago, so I asked the help of a genealogist. He got dead end after dead end. Then I explained the names my grandmother made me memorise. That was the key to getting further. Unfortunately the genealogist died (he was a diabetic and a visit to the dentist had a tragic ending). But I was on the path to uncovering a lot by now, and helped immensely that my family weren’t strangers to newspaper reports on them. All that is researchable online. There is a twist to my family history that my father and mother weren’t my parents, but my birth mother was my Aunt (my grandmother’s daughter), so researching backwards from my Irish Grandmother was a very colourful family history I knew nothing about. I even found various family secrets, which had an effect on the entire family.

So, you see @jjraak even if you know very little, it might take a little bit of effort and time, but it is possible to find a whole wealth of stuff. I have sent it all to my 3 grown up kids, and it made good background for homework my grandchildren were asked to do.

I like the top painting very much. Reminds me of my Grandmother’s farm when I helped at harvest time.

Trying to do my daily painting on iPad, but it keeps shutting down. Frustrating.I have not lost my painting yet, I keep saving it. So I have just done a soft reboot...see if that works.

Not keeping up at present - an influx of tots and infants - wonder what the cut off point is for each of these terms?

Eldest grandchildren due to go to Spain for their annual August with other grandparents - just wondering if they will still go - they will have to self isolate for two weeks when they get back I have been told - oh well - I did not see them for 4 months so another 6 weeks on the cards.

Played with another app yesterday - or was it the day before - too many noises and demands for food, water, toys, and on and on and on and on - who teaches three year olds, especially twins, to articulate this stuff? Anyhow - a touch of green - see what you think. Koffy.

My ZenBrush2 app painting
iPad kept shutting down. So it interrupted my flow of painting.
I did a soft reboot. And iPad behaved.
But I couldn't get back into the painting again, my hand had lost its sense of flow and accuracy.
I had already done the branches, but I didn't have the dexterity by now now to do the bird.
And it's taken me nearly 45 minutes to do the bird. Which it wouldn't have done if I could've continued the flow without having to sort out the iPad.
So I am frustrated with this painting now.
Anyway, here it is.

Good morning each. . 4.9 (twice - both hands just to be sure) on StabbyMcStabbyface. All very Meh but nothing worse. Builder returns today - is it too soon to finish and sell? - I'm bored of Breckland now. Birthday went as well as it could have (now I know why Italy suffered so badly) Great art today @dunelm and @gennepher. @Muddy Cyclist yesterday's art looked very like the view from the back of our last home - except any kind of slope - and may have made me feel I'll never settle here (even more). @dunelm methinks those Ninky Nonks are far more of a tonic than you let on. Minnie Mouse made an appearance yesterday - some oldies impressed, Bella (Isabel (sic) is so much better) not so much Stay safe and much more sensible than the clown show I participated in yesterday.

Home for me (around Bluntisham, Cambs) but there is a part of here with bungalows backing on to woodland that may not be so bad. Without knowing if the little visitor is growing inside me anymore, which is why I moved Julie nearer the boys, that may be the best I can do. Spooked by events last summer I guess. I can't stand seeing another house from my window once again after so much solitude.
