4.7 this morning - so the new normal continues. Over lockdown I had put on 7lbs - too much cheese and cream and working on the computer. Scales this morning say that I have lost 5lb - so only 2lb to go.

Visit to Felbrigg yesterday was lovely. The woodland and parkland was stunning. We then had coffee from the cafe and Mr K had a sausage roll. There were picnic tables outside and it felt like we are getting back to normality as I do love a cup of coffee after a National Trust walk.

Home for me (around Bluntisham, Cambs) but there is a part of here with bungalows backing on to woodland that may not be so bad. Without knowing if the little visitor is growing inside me anymore, which is why I moved Julie nearer the boys, that may be the best I can do. Spooked by events last summer I guess. I can't stand seeing another house from my window once again after so much solitude.
That is a real dilemma. Your move to Breckland was an unselfish and altruistic thing to do - especially as you loved your old home so much.

yesterday's art looked very like the view from the back of our last home - except any kind of slope - and may have made me feel I'll never settle here (even more
Thankyou although mixed feelings, pleased it reminded you of places you are fond of, sorry it may have caused the yearning for loved landscapes. Art can be very emotive.

Good man and be proud for the decision to move from a place you loved with the thought of those you love in mind.

Thank you. I'm hoping I will get through 4 more years, watch the grandchildren grow, finish/sell this place then decide - with Julie - where next. I always knew I would have to sell the last place to downsize but this was obviously too soon for me. Not helped by original sale and purchase I was ok with falling through while I was in and out of hospital last summer.Current situation not helpful, roaming around Bury and Newmarket + walking dogs may make me a nicer. kinder little boy. Lots of dog snatching currently so advice is don't let pups off the lead. People have bigger problems - we've got Johnson but look at the USA:)

I pity the people on holiday in the Lakes, its pouring down again and just progressively got worse since the lock down ended. It was blue sky, sunrise to sunset for weeks and weeks. The birds were singing and all nature was in vibrant colour. And we were staying home walking round our badly kept garden for weeks and weeks.

Now the ones who stayed home and worked cant even escape to the sun in Spain.

good afternoon all :)

4.8 today

It's a soggy day here today but at least it's not cold ;), spent the morning topping and tailing gooseberries, listening to an audio book and watching the visitors from the caravan site wandering about in their waterproofs in the rain. It's a shame as you said @lindisfel when we had so many good days of weather during the strict lockdown.

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@ianpspurs - hugs for the 'homesickness' it can bite you when you least expect it :(

@dunelm - I like the touch of green it adds a new dimension :)

@gennepher - your picture works well and I like the bird, sorry for your struggle, it can be difficult to get back into something when your flow has been interrupted :sorry:

@Muddy Cyclist - I love your pencil lanscape, such a grand vista, what type of pencils do you use? Interested to see what your sketches work up like :)

art bit - tried doing a sketch in mum's garden yesterday with some 'watercolour' pencils I found I had, don't know how long they had been sitting in the cupboard, a couple of years at least. they will not live in the cupboard any longer, they will go! the pigment was so hard I scratched the paper surface trying to get some colour onto the paper :hilarious:

today's offering -
watercolour approx A5

There I was being bored for a change and I thought "maybe I should have a crack at this art stuff".

So I downloaded Zen Brush 2 and here's me first go at a couple of sticks :)

That sounds like a good plan - and 4 years will fly by in a flash.
I read about the dog snatching in your area - good advice not to let pups off the lead.
Yes - it would be a nightmare if we had Trump here. At least he is losing popularity in the USA. I think, maybe, Johnson is also losing popularity here.
