What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I don't do passenger @Alien Aspie and @geefull
As a child and teenager, I crouched and hid in the car well behind the front seat. As soon as I was 17 and got my driving licence I wouldn't let anyone else drive. I am the driver, not a passenger...

When I had my cochlear op, I had to come home by taxi. Never ever again, it was the drive from hell. I was screaming internally. I will never ever forget that ride. It was worse than the worst hell raising amusement ride. Next time I have an operation I will drive my own car there, and drive myself home. Better still, I am not having any more operations...

welll.

if you think the drive in wales is bad..

you've deffo never been in an Indian taxi, as he races at highest speeds on poorly B roads, carpeted in dogs, cows & Indians on scooters just stopping in middle of the road to have a chat, at 1:AM...:woot:, to your apartments,
while having an indepth conversation on his mobile, with his mother (most times), while tuning the radio to the NEXT station up, as the music on this one is 'poor' aka
****E.
and occasionally looking back at us to enquire if we need a driver for the next 3 weeks (IF we live :woot::wideyed: )
and laying out his sales pitch for where we might go and how quickly HE can get us there, regardless of the traffic..

all this while we look on in shock at the scenery rushing past as we traverse the lanes & bends, in a giddy flight to our meeting with our GOD OR the owners of our rooms.

and most times it's been the room owner..TG

But i do take your point
i still travel with my foot on that invisible brake pedal EVERY time i'm Not the driver..:wideyed:.

and lets NOT talk about being on the back of ANY bike...:hilarious:
even if it's Alf or Dunelm..:bag:;)

You @jjraak I am assuming, never had a mother who had never passed her driving test because she got her driving licence in the days when they were just handed out with no test. So, she never learnt nor understood nor comprehended the rules of the road. The road was there for her use only.

That meant, amongst other things, she never stopped nor gave way at red traffic lights. Hence causing traffic to fly in every direction. She never got stopped. She never had an accident. How? Even as a child I understood that red traffic lights meant stop.

So, as you can imagine, as a child, I did a lot of actual screaming in the car when she was driving.

There were many times when my father would argue with her from the passenger seat as she was driving. She would scream at him, blow her top, stop the car in the middle of the road, it didn't matter how busy the road was. And they would go to the roadside verge or beyond to continue their raging battle, physical as well as verbal.

In the meantime, me and my little brother were in the back seat. He was crying. I, big sister would look out for traffic, hold his hand, get him out of the car safely, and take him to the nearest bush or safe place. And I would hold him safe. I wouldn't cry. My earliest memory of this is when he was 2 or 3 and I was about 6. I was profoundly deaf, and still couldn't speak properly then. But I could protect him then.

I was always protecting my little brother when I was at home.

And I would never take a passenger in the back of any bike I rode.

good evening all :)

4.4 this morning

we took Mum to her bank today and followed on with lunch out ;)
so, by the time we got back to Mum's, spoke to the contractor working across the road who's a friend of mr gee's, played fetch in the garden with Katy and drank tea that's most of the day gone :hilarious:

hope your Friday is treating you well :)

@gennepher - nice autumnal feeling to your landscape, I like the stile :) interested to see what you do with the light if you decide to work on it.

@dunelm - quite dark in that wood, but the branches with the light filtering through from behind are effective :)

@Alien Aspie - striking composition and the waterfall is very well rendered :)

@Muddy Cyclist - always interesting to see how you translate the sketch into the finished work. That patch of light through the trees give is a nice focal point and the surface of the track works very well :)

art bit -
wow, brushes are a minefield area :sorry: soooo many brushes :D:hilarious:

this one's pretty self explanatory, it's just a bit of a neighbours' garden wall, all watercolour this time.

Thanks. An excellent study of stones - very effective.

Good Morning and 6.2 for me today.

Bright sunny morning so meeting SIL for a long Mountain Bike Ride, he's only 40 and Bike fit so it's going to be one of those long ones. At least I won't have to start the decorating. :)

Accept where your day leads you with strength and optimism, Keep Safe.

Good morning everyone from a decidedly noisy start to the day in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of cauliflower rice topped with chicken and peas (chosen by one of the grandchildren who I assisted in the making of - kids are weird) came in at 4.8 this am. Why we also just had to have tomatoes on the table as well is a mystery as they were not touched.

Noisy - very windy outside, a noisy night. Nothing though compared to a pair of identical 3 year olds at 0530 sitting on the landing making “halloween noises” to accompany the wind.

Far too much tea consumed so far today - which is not in itself a bad thing - just a bladder thing. I shall add to the torment with a koffy., Here is a pagoda.

There is a nice autumnal feel to this art. One of those early Autumn Mornings where shapes come and go as the light struggles in the thin air. A good Atmospheric achievement. All that spooky Behaviour of your little visitors and wind must have influenced your artistic ability. :)

Beautiful misty morning @dunelm

Why are so many morons visiting the countryside this year?
Abusing wild animals, I found it unbelievable they were throwing young seals into the sea, for fun, on the Holkham reserve!
The littering of wild areas in the Lakes is far worse this year.
Idiots are going on the fells in wild weather and repeatedly calling out the volunteer rescue teams.

What's gone wrong with people, are they asserting their freedoms because of lockdown?
Or are they flouting their particular right 'to go to Barnard Castle!'

Fbg 7.9

A friend sent me photo from an A&C place of a Chinese painting of sparrows chattering, hung on the wall. You could do this she texted.

Yesterday there were starlings on my telephone wire. So ‘Starlings gossiping’...

Same here on Cannock Chase. SIL and Daughter said same on campsites, they are seasoned camping family but what they have seen this year is campers who are antisocial, dangerous camping practices and general stupidity.

IMG_29082020_073343_(1080_x_1080_pixel).jpg Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who wonder where the weather went, not the rain or wind we know that they are holidaying here.

A 6.2 this morning on the meter of misbehaving and naughtiness.

Attached is a picture I tried to upload yesterday from my ride on Thursday, but failed.

I have ridden past this potman a few times, but this time I stopped and took a picture, just as his creator arrived a lovely lady arrived who told me just how popular he is, lots of people stop for photographs, walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists and motorists. One of the joys of two wheels is you see the unusual and invariably it will brighten day.

So a big thank you to the lovely lady who created the pot man and I wish her well with her plans for next year.
For the interested the bike is a 700 cc Yamaha Tracer.

Well folks we have our grandchildren for the day, chaos, mayhem and lots of telling off's for me and me's.
Have a great day fellow posters and painters and 2 wheelers.

Greetings everyone on a morning when I feel fitbit has sadly measured my sleep in hours and minutes not a whole season. The gift of God that is salmon and avocado salad prompted Scanny McScannyface to make me believe my fbg was 4.6. Seems about right so no stabbing this morning. Today I will mostly be wearing far too many clothes, obtaining quotes to make this place both suitable for us and sellable should some of the more suitable properties still be/become available. @dunelm - too much tea? as politicians say, I don't recognise that concept. You must have caught the alternative truth bug doing the rounds. How very zeitgeisty. @lindisfel here is a link to fenland art mainly from Lincolnshire/Peterborough edge. The first painting, Morton Fen, is so much my comfort zone for scenery and sociability https://nicktearle.net/fenland-paintings

6.3 this morning, but once again I was up late and then slept in ;)

@gennepher I had to call into my health centre yesterday and overheard the practice manager telling a patient who wasn't wearing a mask because she felt it infringed her rights that it was ok, she could just say that she had a medical condition :banghead: All I hear now is "Well, not many people died and it was mostly in care homes so it's not a problem".
