What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I can only speak for me on this. I enjoy fasting (which I just finished after 8 days) and intermittent fasting which I'm now doing. Personally I stick to very low carb (<60g/day) and find my FBG sit between 4-5.5. I do monitor my ketones as I have a dual monitor and try to keep them below 5.0

The only time my blood sugars have raced up was when I was ill and on antibiotics and heavy steroids. Your profile doesn't say what type of diabetes you have, me I'm standard T2.

edit...
I just reread this and I sound like a right little angel. I should add that I need to fast as I am often a very naughty boy :bag:;)

Don’t completely know which type I am. I think type 2 but no one has actually confirmed that. - I think they were more concerned with keeping the engine running so they just plugged me in. Insulin in one arm and glucose in the other - when I went walk about I looked like an extremely high tech dog walker! I have a face to face appointment with the diabetic consultant on the 17th. Hoping for more info then.
I’d like to maybe be a bit naughty occasionally. Maybe be able to order something besides a Caesar salad (no dressing, no croutons) when I’m out with the guys before a gig! I can rate the Caesar salad in pubs and restaurants across west Wales and believe me, it’s not impressive!! Any carbs and I’m so thirsty I can’t play and I’m giggling and banging into stuff. What I wouldn’t give for a plate of chips every now and then!
My DN said I need to be a little gentler with myself. So maybe there’s a chip in my future??

Here's hoping they can come back with a definitive answer on the 17th.

If my sugars go too high I get thirsty too, it's taken me a couple of years to really understand what I'm doing to myself but there are far greater minds on this thread than me. Mind you, I agree about the salad. I lived in west Wales and whilst I could find a good steak the salads were an afterthought ;)

good evening all

4.2 yesterday and 4.2 today

playing catch up today :sorry:

hope your day is treating you well :)[/QUOTE
A fine painting whilst you are catching up. Again those hills are very good indeed. I like the observation you have to master these and the light between water end and land beginning.

So, with DJ Dump heading here for a press conference, twitter comes up trumps (yes, I just did that).

More on the venue for that upcoming outburst: I’ve arrived at Four Seasons Landscaping. It’s next to an adult book store called Fantasy Island. Richard Hall

He also got ripped a new something or other by Katie Hobbs, Arizona's Secretary of State:

My office has been putting out information for months about how election processes work in the state & all we do to ensure security & fairness. If you haven’t been paying attention, that’s on you, but don’t show up when you don’t like the result & scream fraud w/no evidence
I am quite liking this - does that make me a bad person?:angelic:
All this talk of chips and D.J.Chump, made me think of how balanced he is!

He has two massive chips, one on each shoulder.

A day of activity, Muddy Cycle ride in the fog and then afternoon walk with Mrs MC in the sun and some mist.
(When did heavy mist become fog? Fog in my book is caused by pollution and mist by the weather conditions. Met Office say Fog and Mist depends on visibility , new to me.)

Anyway I finished one of the watercolours from yesterday, the splodge and spray one. Based on Autumn at Shugbourgh Woods.
A4 about 1 hour 30 minutes.

And as a reminder this is how it looked yesterday...

Magnificent autumn trees.
I like it @Muddy Cyclist

Good Morning and 6.2 for me today.

A day of reflection, a day of action, moving final furniture from MILs bungalow to my daughters new house as it's the only day van and friend can do it. All agreed to be still at 11.

Keep safe.

3.9 ➡️
Almost caught up with recorded stuff on Sky Q but got waylaid by CNN for an historic calling of the election!

Just about to make an coffee and my last bit of a lie in before getting back to some tennis and perhaps some commentary practice.

12.6 for me dont know why so high have taken a correction dose so hopefully come down soon, checked temp thats 35.4 so thats fine ,have a good day everyone

So, Remembrance Sunday 2020 dawns that much more poignant for many this year with a more vivid and personal recent experience of loss through service to a greater good. Many members have alluded to either personal involvement in the armed forces, including actual conflict, or family involvement in them. I am surrounded by young men and women prepared to lay everything on the line for their country - whomever the C in C. In that context my fbg and how it was achieved seems just a tad self indulgent. BUT when last checked I was well controlled - (however, the last 8 months have driven a coach and horses through trust in what our scientists and docs know) so all those such as @karen8967 needing to know fbg are in an entirely different situation and hugs to you all. Take care you fine folks.

Well that worked out very well, splodge and spray woodland looking very autumnal and with some depth. Like this on a lot.

Another day of this precious gift of life dawns which so many have lost fighting for causes other than theirs alone.

I always enjoyed the words of Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sachs, a man of real humanity and faith with a deep desire to help others across all faiths and none. At 72 he was not a young man to die of cancer, but it still seems much too young to me, one who has up to now survived various health situations I would not have done in previous generations.
Thank God we have a health service and those that serve us, some poorly paid.
D.

Question.
There are lots of people on the forum who fast or only eat one or two meals a day and have good BG readings.
How do they manage that?
I get the whole fasting thing. Before lockdown I didn’t eat during the day (no time) and I felt fine. I obviously wasn’t fine. When I had my heart attack I was borderline DKA with an hba1c of 118! Bit of a shock. It’s taken five weeks of lots of insulin and limited carbs to get my BG down into single figures.
Yeay me!
However. The Libre (got it on Tuesday) shows that my BG starts climbing every night at about midnight and keeps climbing until I eat in the morning. If I eat a non carb breakfast it keeps climbing and if I sk ip breakfast it keeps climbing.
How do people maintain such low figures on IF? My BG has a mind of its own!
Interesting question. For me, I don’t eat until 12 noon and my meals are very low carb. It suits me well and I do sometimes forget to have anything at lunchtime if I’m not hungry. Having said that, maybe try not eating unless hunger kicks in and then test to see if it is merely thirst by having a glass of water. If my reading is a little high then a bit of cheese usually does the trick.

6.0 this morning. Not surprised at all as was really hungry at 10pm last night so had rather a lot of Montezuma's 100% and 2 pieces of Mr K's dark chocolate (that's all I am admitting to but it may have been more).

We are off to Oxburgh Hall this morning. Hope it isn't too muddy. Am looking forward to walking through the woodland. I love the colours this time of year.

Good morning everyone, all quiet on the western front here in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of a fried corned beef Reuben sandwich with pickles came in at 4.8 this am

Footgate is still on a downward trend and with only three days worth of antibiotics left, I hope that it does not drag on like vote counting in some states over that big pond. Still, the Trumpf won’t be able to go into the White House for much longer as it will be forBiden.
Remembrance day today so my picture for today is on that topic.
“Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.”

Hope everyone has a pleasant day. Time for some koffy.

This is beautiful and poignant @dunelm

Fbg 6.2

I know it is Remembrance Day, but I never thought of doing Poppies for today.
I have been wanting to do a another waterfall.

So, I have spent the last hour and a half doing this one in Procreate.
I used the soft airbrush tool, the caged tool which looks like bricks for the bridge and rocks, the stone wall tool for the rocks, ocean waves for the waterfalls (where I had to keep tilting the iPad to get the downward tumbling of water), the leaves tool for the leaves and moss, and finally the mad splash tool for red berries.

I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed doing this one. I did really enjoy doing this one. At no point did I have any frustration doing this. I just dived in and flowed...I think it is about 20 mb (no wonder my iPad keeps crashing, I need more space in memory), so I have to reduce it to under 1 mb so I can post it here.

I suppose I had better do a poppy now for Remembrance Day...

Edit: I forgot to say, this is Ogwen Falls, North Wales.
