What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

A good afternoon, coffee and Christmas cake after Pigs in Blankets on sons front garden, then present exchange. Yes I know Tier 3 no meeting in gardens, but my sons front garden is large, very large:). Double axle Caravan, VW Toreaug, work van my VW camper Daughters car and room for at least 4 other vehicles then two large lawns so as good as a park in my opinion, anyway felt safe.

Good walk and some Plein Air sketching, you are going to be so fed up of Polard Willows, sorry.

Another painting awaits, this is the view from son's front garden.

This is the Plein Air sketching and then a watercolour sky started, finish Monday..

Plein Air 10 mins, family would not wait longer......

Location, company, photo, sketching all superb, The whole sounds almost as though it was designed with you and your family in mind.:angelic: Ladbrookes have closed the book on today being a real tonic for your (and Mrs M C's) soul. Well deserved so enjoy the glow.

Thank you, Christmas as been very different than ever before but somehow it's all worked and never once have we met indoors. Maybe this is the future, thank goodness for Wilfrid the VW camper. :)

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas break
Swipey back in action this morning 6.7 ➡️

In fact sparse swipey over the break and surprisingly despite a massive carb load on Christmas Day I ended up in the green overnight!

Back at it from this week - work-out and treadmill imminently, business call with the guys who give us money for you good folk clicking on our top stories and then I am going to finish some free training on sports trading (a new project that I can look into given no work and no travelling) and I might even clean my golf clubs today!

Have a good day all.

Good Morning and 5.7 for me today.

We have awoke to a world of silence under a blanket of thick snow and pleanty still falling, a complete surprise.:banghead: Causes huge problems as we live in a valley and the only way out is up. Not having 4x4s anymore looks like I will by Mountain Biking to get to Mrs MCs horse as no cars are going to get out of our close.

Keep warm and safe.

Welcome to Holy Innocents day. 7.30 and tumbleweed down main street - my internet, the site or everyone really celebrating too vigorously? Swipey seems to think my fbg will be 5.3. In cricket one is told when things look rosy for the batting side to add on two wickets. I apply that to Swipey - always add on two. This is the first Christmas of the six LC versions I have stayed strictly on track and tested rigorously. Bit like the Demetors Kiss in Harry Potter at times but the big picture is important. Obviously there is a family susceptibility to T2 and cardio vascular problems down my male line and susceptibility to gout down the female line. LCHF isn't an optimal route through that IMHO and winter cold season for our little innocents seems to jump species and raise the gout potential. In trying to avoid said crystals and reliance on NSAIDs the wine and alcohol in general that flattens the sombrero of off piste fun is best avoided IMHO. Long winded case study in how LCHF is only part of the wellbieng picture. TLDR, no rating, Informative ok but no hugs Enjoy the extra Bank Holiday.

Hi dunelm,
It is interesting that most of our trees will grow from being coppiced, cut right back to grow from being much reduced.
It was apparently because trees evolved alongside the mega fauna which humans wiped out.
Imagine meeting the extinct Straight-tusked Elephant in the area that is now London... the bones of one was found under Trafalgar Square.
They, much larger than their African cousins pulled down trees to eat their vegetation, so trees learnt to cope by evolving the regeneration capacity, according to some biologists.
In the north in the tundra they must have rubbed shoulders with the mammoths.

I often try to see that former world in my minds eye, before we ravaged the mega fauna.

Thanks Derek, fascinating. The more we learn, the less we seem to know

Good morning everyone, have a great day on what should be a normal day after Christmas.

I think we must venture out to the shops today to see if there is any food on the shelves? :)

We have plenty of meat, if we had go on a stone age diet. But somehow I can't imagine the duchess in a Sabre tooth skin bikini...something like Rachel Welch! :) in a million years b.c.!

It seems that fisherman have been sold down the estuary and it looks like they are endlessly going to be a periodical bargaining chip. No security there.

The whole discussions are not over, it is going to be endless cause of problems between us that need to be solved by discussion.
Happy days

D.

good morning all :)

4.6 yesterday and 4.1 today

and I ate such a lot of 'stuff' yesterday :hilarious:

freezing cold here this morning with a beautiful sky, however, the rose tinted clouds are flying by, better than yesterday's continuous rain though :joyful:

It's Sunday, I have to remind myself, I woke up expecting Monday yesterday after doing Christmas lunch at Mum's, if you see what I mean :D

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@JohnEGreen - sensitive and thoughtful picture from Adrian :)

@ianpspurs - I particularly enjoyed yesterday's poem, lovely and thought provoking :)

@dunelm - your Christmas day sounded delightful and I like your festive gnomes
Today's sketch has so much serenity within it, a fine sketch :)

@gennepher - I haven't been to Betws-y-coed for a lot of years :sorry: Good call on the sky and I really like the colours you've infused into the waterfall :joyful: and an interesting picture this morning with lovely colours running in those fluid foreground waves :)

@Muddy Cyclist - Your outdoor festivities sound excellent :D .
Your tree sketch is very fine, I enjoy it, the perspective is strong and those pollarded willows have great presence :joyful:

art bit - from the end of the the ness

Thank you very much @geefull - smashing great expanse that you have created over the ness. I love those distant hills reaching into the sky.

Son’s garden sounds ideal and you do have to make these judgements. Fab photo and looking forward to the developing art.

Today's poem is incredibly on point for our times. @lindisfel and others who come at this from a certain starting point, I have come to a position for posts here. Work on my own mote before fulminating against the manifest beams on display. Better that I pray for the young, poor, old, sick, homeless and all other categories ravaged by every latest Herodian savagery. Pray for the bad people to go away asap and quietly offer whatever support I can to the needy and opponents of this nonsense. One surely can't watch this and just shrug one's shoulders in despair?

Good morning everyone from a not white after all morning in the dark and dangerous north

Our park has been re-born after the wind and rain over the weekend as a bog garden. No trees down as far as I can tell but lots of branches strewn about, none too big to hinder progress. Our leftover leftovers have now been consumed without a hint of turkey curry. Son’s tree taken down yesterday sparked a discussion last night about changing trends with Christmas paraphernalia and symbolic items. I can see why, for all those crazy guys putting up their tree 2 months after taking it down the last time, that going into January might not work and I have no idea if ours will make 12th night - I shall keep shtum on the subject - some decisions are best delegated others.

An attempt at High Force in Teesdale but didn’t really do it - never mind - tomorrow, I have been informed, is another day. Have a pleasant day, time for koffy.
