What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas break
Swipey back in action this morning 6.7 ➡️

In fact sparse swipey over the break and surprisingly despite a massive carb load on Christmas Day I ended up in the green overnight!

Back at it from this week - work-out and treadmill imminently, business call with the guys who give us money for you good folk clicking on our top stories and then I am going to finish some free training on sports trading (a new project that I can look into given no work and no travelling) and I might even clean my golf clubs today!

Have a good day all.
I wish re break still I've got the new year off :)

A good afternoon, coffee and Christmas cake after Pigs in Blankets on sons front garden, then present exchange. Yes I know Tier 3 no meeting in gardens, but my sons front garden is large, very large:). Double axle Caravan, VW Toreaug, work van my VW camper Daughters car and room for at least 4 other vehicles then two large lawns so as good as a park in my opinion, anyway felt safe.

Good walk and some Plein Air sketching, you are going to be so fed up of Polard Willows, sorry.

Another painting awaits, this is the view from son's front garden.

Beautiful photo and interesting sketches ...

Good morning everyone from a not white after all morning in the dark and dangerous north

Our park has been re-born after the wind and rain over the weekend as a bog garden. No trees down as far as I can tell but lots of branches strewn about, none too big to hinder progress. Our leftover leftovers have now been consumed without a hint of turkey curry. Son’s tree taken down yesterday sparked a discussion last night about changing trends with Christmas paraphernalia and symbolic items. I can see why, for all those crazy guys putting up their tree 2 months after taking it down the last time, that going into January might not work and I have no idea if ours will make 12th night - I shall keep shtum on the subject - some decisions are best delegated others.

An attempt at High Force in Teesdale but didn’t really do it - never mind - tomorrow, I have been informed, is another day. Have a pleasant day, time for koffy.

A great sketch of High Force...

Fbg 6.6
Cold here.
Minus 3C
No snow as yet, but BBC weather app promises a deluge of white stuff...
Already been earlier outside when it was dark (all Xmas strobe lights off for once, they have been leaving them on all through the night...) to watch the twinkling stars drinking my first coffee.
My painting for today in Procreate.
Similar to yesterday.
But silly me should duplicate any particular painting tool I use, before I alter the settings within that painting tool :(

Going to investigate making paper today. So I can get everything ready for the my next year projects. I used to make my own paper. I used to love those Yellow Pages in the phone books several decades ago. More recently I used plant materials from my garden. Nettles grow well here, and they were used. Loads of other plant materials. My last liquidiser conked out when making paper. I now have two new cheap liquidisers. Which I have not used yet. It does take a lot of space to dry it all.

Any way. My digital painting in Procreate.

Early for New Year resolutions but you have effectively had one. This is a diabetes forum and I have bombarded folks with (mainly) pieces from centre left leaning newspapers and overtly Christian pieces. That can't carry on really. If some of you who are on the centre left politically and /or either Christian or happy to read or debate its ideas in a friendly way want to form a PM group or similar outside of DCUK I think that would be a good way for me to help clear this thread.

My New Years resolution, one of them, is to get back to writing again, and poetry...
Here's one I did yesterday. I won't bore you with any more. This is a one off for this thread.

As with your art it would be a waste of your talent not to share your poetry. There is also the point that others will undoubtedly benefit from the insights and/or different perspectives. Your forum needs you; your public demands it young lady.

Today's poem is incredibly on point for our times. @lindisfel and others who come at this from a certain starting point, I have come to a position for posts here. Work on my own mote before fulminating against the manifest beams on display. Better that I pray for the young, poor, old, sick, homeless and all other categories ravaged by every latest Herodian savagery. Pray for the bad people to go away asap and quietly offer whatever support I can to the needy and opponents of this nonsense. One surely can't watch this and just shrug one's shoulders in despair?
The reminders are there for us all to follow; care for the alien in your gates and the fatherless child.
D.

6.2 again this morning. Overslept until nearly 11am though and was a rough nights sleep. Hopefully should hear from my care coordinator whether I'll get any support this week, probably won't have any though due to leave. Hoping things start to improve in the new year.

But isn't t this what the founder of thethread wished for, if you stop posting the things that interest you then surely all things non Diabetic must cease? No more art, no more descriptionsof our days activities, no more life stories. This is what this thread is about with diabetes being the one common thing.

Neighbourly Love, each houselhold turned out to clear the snow off roads and paths in front of their houses, we joined together to do those who are older and infirm and so we can all get out on the steep hill, brilliant humanity working at its best, incredible what a bit of white stuff falling from the heavens can achieve.

I'm with you on the art, poetry and what we did today. I just think the overtly Christian and political content should really go elsewhere. To some extent there was a similar arrangement earlier in the year when we lost longstanding posters due to too much COVID news/comment. In the end I think it is right to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. Anyhow at least 1 other is up for this but more would widen the perspective.

Yes - I do agree and that is why I do love this thread. It would be so sad if we had to censor our posts to make them just about diabetes.

I suppose that if this thread was predominantly about just one subject such as politics, Christianity, covid, art, the weather, dogs or cats etc. etc. it wouldn't be good. But it isn't because posts cover such a huge range of views and opinions and subjects.

I do agree though that if we got stuck on just one subject it wouldn't be good.

In a thread that was designed for full chat there is a place for a variety of discussions, because we all come to this from different backgrounds. Many of these subjects interface and overlap with each other and can be perfectly accommodated and don't occupy an exclusive area.
I find the art and poetry an excellent focus.

I think I have crossed the line in political discussion at times, perhaps political comment in more general or humorous terms is acceptable.:)

No one has gone anywhere near being proselytising and the poetry from Malcolm Guite has been excellent and appropriate for Christmas.

I think our discussions are a great asset to the forum. We are not the only ones that read them.
Best wishes
Derek
