What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Saw these, not great picture from my phone, on my ride yesterday, not seen them on this pool before. Bigger than mallard ducks, smaller than goose, duck like in the way they swam. Body white neck and head appeared black, any ideas @lindisfel or anyone else?

Good morning all after another very cold night with some light snow promised this am.
I hope you all stay safe in this very strange world.

We have a madman as the most powerful man in the world and his madness has eventually born its violent fruit but needs to be neutralised immediately without delay.
We have a wounded vicious animal in the White house for the next two weeks that needs darting like a wild animal.

They look like male Goosanders, Muddy.
They are fish eating diving ducks with serrated bills, 'teeth'. More streamlined than Mallard perhaps a shade bigger as you say.

Apologies in advance for this long post and for not posting a fbs. I have ten minutes of my birthday left so thought I would spend them sharing my experiences of the last two days. Yesterday was the anniversary of my dear dad's passing and was full of emotional flashbacks. I then had a long phone call from the manager of mum's nursing home informing me that 20 of the residents including my mum and 29 staff had tested positive recently and that 6 had died! Apparently since we were last able to visit in March several new residents had arrived who were mobile. Some of them had a tendency to wander into other people's rooms and this had probably contributed to the sudden spread of the virus. The layout of the building was also thought to have contributed to enabling this to happen so the plan was to move the 10 residents who cannot walk, including mum, from their downstairs rooms to upstairs to protect them. I had several concerns about the move for mum but was asked to let them know my decision in a couple of days. Then this morning whilst opening my birthday cards I had a phone call saying the move was taking place there and then and asking for my agreement to move mum. I had to put safety first but requested that mum could be moved to a room with a similar outside view as this was important to her. They agreed so I gave my consent. When I rang this evening I was told mum was fine and had settled into her new room. Phew!!! The good news is that mum has weathered Covid so far without serious symptoms. Sorry for the long post but I really needed to vent. For those who read my post to the end --thank you. No need for hugs as writing this down has already helped a lot. Thank you again. Good night all. Have a good day tomorrow.
Belated birthday wishes dogslife and hugs anyway x

Good morning everyone on dark and dangerous times in the dark and dangerous north and other places
The wonder wheel of a fine breast of lamb came in at 4.8 this am

@Muddy Cyclist - chilly bike ride and a fine, vibrant sandstone outcrop, backdropping those dark trees and shrubs - smashing. Walking and log fires sounds good.
@dogslife - Belated birthday greetings and hugs for your recent emotional rollercoaster. Hope your mum is OK.
@gennepher - love this art, fine silhouette exposed by the dawn cry of the approaching Ra.

New series of Staged is going well and well done to both for maintaining that lock down look. US Capital police caught on the back foot - strange days and a new enemy of the state. First foray into a supermarket yesterday in this new year, list firmly grasped in hand - happily not many people about so the avoidance dance not activated and checkout Charlene with no queue. Shout at the telly at 7pm last night - I still think that Mz Bruce should stick to antiques. The Repair Shop - does every item need to have a back story like participants in Britain's Got Talent - can you book your spouse in? Now I’m thinking about Jeremy Bentham - “Tyranny and anarchy are never far apart”.

Art - in recognition of our fine news reporters led by that loony Laura bird - a big lump of bull wallowing in the mire. Have the best day that you can. Koffy calls (other sounds available by appointment).

Interesting - we had a flock of tufted ducks arrive this week - (I had to look them up). Can you still use a punt gun in public?

So glad that ended as well as it could have done. Emotionally a very mixed birthday but happy in places I have no doubt.

Plus what I suppose to be a Cattle Egret that even now breed in the UK.

Morning all. No Swipey data today it seems to be unwell. Anyone willing to do so please pray for our American members and the thousands of Servicemen, women and their families far from home, family and friends. I also need to publicly thank @Krystyna23040 who has patiently and highly professionally provided me with invaluable help for dealing with my spinal issues.

Thank you for the painting compliment @dunelm

I am glad I don't have a telly any more....

Your painting...a beautiful magnificent powerful painting of a bull wallowing.

Thank you @gennepher - I enjoyed painting it. I only have one more scrap of that hemp paper left so will have to see what I can shoehorn into it. Not having a telly does have advantates.

I was chatting in a WhatsApp group with a friend in the US who just feels that the part of the country that is of sound mind and rationality will be in a state of heightened fear as to what will happen in the next two weeks.

Yep, Laura the Cattle Egret - well spotted sir.

It's no special skills , Dunelm, just being a time served birder!
Was on the county records committee for 15 years but that was a few years ago now and I am not as sharp as I was. The duchess is more sharp sighted than myself.

I once told a birder friend who kept Westies, you've got a Westie and I have a Pointer! :)

Just was contacted by phone from a member of the local Methodist church we attend and she has arranged for someone to collect our groceries each week.
So that is a relief.
According to my eldest this variant that's running amok in Cumbria goes through or round the normal ppe masks so I don't know how normal cheapo versions will stop it.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

A 5.8 on that wayward meter this morning.

Our ex colonists across the pond seem to be attracting the evil media and in me and me's opinion seem to be reaping the rewards of a pro gun culture. It's a real shame that we cannot get a true unbiased picture of what is really happening.

Well fellow posters, painters and gamers and I hope you all are well, enjoying another day. It's nice and fresh outside, therefore my plans are being rewritten for indoor activities with the excitement of dodging anything flying through the air towards me from the direction of Mrs J, hmmmm perhaps me and me's might decamp to the shed / workshop.

Just recently some nice art work has been posted. Well done all.
